Ret. Land Surveyor
Robert Jost of Grahamsville, a retired land surveyor, died Tuesday, April 18, 2000, at his home. He was 84 years of age.
The son of Fred and Anna Gantner Jost, he was born July 15, 1915, in Suffern. He was the widower of Loretta Saal Jost.
A World War II veteran, serving from 1941 to 1945 with the rank of Technical Sergeant, Mr. Jost was a member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Woodbourne.
He is survived by two sons, Robert F. Jost of Greenlawn, and Peter C. Jost of Grahamsville; and two daughters, Virginia LaRusso and Cathy Chaves, both of the state of Florida. He was predeceased by a grandson, Mark Chaves.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Monday at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Woodbourne with Father Lynch officiating.
Interment was made in the Grahamsville Rural Cemetery
Funeral arrangements were made by the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home in Woodbourne.
Mark A. Grayek
Car Salesman, 45
Mark A. Grayek of Narrowsburg, a car salesman and manager for numerous automotive dealers in New York and Connecticut, and a former Fairfield, Conn., resident, died Monday, April 10, 2000, at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, following a long illness. He was 45 years of age.
The son of Rose Grayek and the late Florian Edward Grayek, he was born February 28, 1955, in Scranton, Pa.
Mr. Grayek was an avid golfer and water sportsman.
He is survived by his mother of Monroe; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Arlene and Walter Hassell of Seymour, Conn., and Shirley Gallagher of Westport, Conn.; two nephews, David Stendahl of Newtown, Conn., and Jason McCleod of Texas; four nieces, Debra Hassell of Thomaston, Conn., Sheryl Socha of Beacon Falls, Conn., Michelle Salvati of Derby, Conn., and Laurie McCleod of Westport, Conn.; and his companion of many years, Barbara Bevis of Eldred.
A Memorial Mass will be offered Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Jude Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, Conn., followed by interment at Mountain Grove Cemetery in Bridgeport, Conn.

Philomena L. Iengo, 71
Former Grossinger's Emply.
Philomena L. Iengo of Sackett Lake, a former employee of Grossinger's Resort and a longtime area resident, died Saturday, April 22, 2000, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris. She was 71 years of age.
The daughter of the late Giovanni and Carmela Annunziata Pizzi, she was born May 12, 1928, in the Bronx.
Mrs. Iengo was a communicant of St. Peter's R.C. Church in Liberty. Before moving to the area she had been an employee of the Victory Blouse Factory in the Bronx.
She is survived by her husband, Giovanni "John" Iengo, at home; a son, Louie Iengo of Monticello and his fianceŽ, Teresa Ferrarese of Queens; four brothers, Stanley Pizzi, James Pizzi, William A. Pizzi and Guido Pizzi, all of Swan Lake; and a sister, Paula Turchiano of Long Island.
Friends may call at the Harris Funeral Home, West Street at Buckley, Liberty, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's R.C. Church, 264 North Main St., Liberty, with Monsignor Edward Straub officiating.
Burial will be made in St. Peter's Cemetery in Liberty.
Thomas J. VanAtta, 82
Thomas J. VanAtta of Pine Level, N.C., died Saturday, April 22, 2000. He was 82 years of age.
He is survived by four sons, Thomas J. VanAtta Jr. of Phoenix, Ariz., Ronnie VanAtta of Kenly, N.C., Donald VanAtta of Bloomingburg and Gene VanAtta of Stony Point; a daughter, Debra Mastroeni of Monsey; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Crumpler's Crossroads Church of God of Prophecy in Selma, N.C.
Burial will be made in Crocker Cemetery near Pine Level, N.C.
Howard Hoehmann Sr.
Businessman, 69
Howard Robert Hoehmann Sr., a resident of West Nyack, died Friday, April 21, 2000, at the Nyack Hospital. He was 69 years of age.
He was the widower of Barbara Ann Partridge Hoehmann who died in 1994.
Before founding his own company, he was employed by Lederle Labs where he was awarded the "Tom Thinker Award" and registered several U.S. pharmaceutical patents.
He served as a corporal during the Korean War where he received the Purple Heart. Mr. Hoehmann was a member of John Cardinal McKlosky Knights of Columbus Council and an active parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church in West Nyack. He was a former member of the Nanuet Ambulance Corps.
Mr. Hoehmann is survived by his mother, Frances Sheerin of Nanuet; nine children, Dianne Conklin of Monticello, Bobbi Curti, Howard R. Hoehmann Jr. and George Hoehmann, all of Nanuet, Mary Galgano of Atlanta, Ga., Joseph Hoehmann Sr. of Matamoras, Pa., John Hoehmann Sr. of Wallkill, Dave Hoehmann of West Nyack and Faith Hauss of New City; 30 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two grandchildren, Alyssa Christine Hoehmann and Diana Jewel Conklin, and a sister, Grace Watkins who died in 1981.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis of Assisi Church in West Nyack.
Interment will be made in St. Anthony's Cemetery in Nanuet.

Jonathan Lewis
Student, 18
Jonathan Lewis of Equinunk, Pa., a student at the Wallenpaupack District School and a longtime participant of the Dyberry Day Camp, died Sunday, April 23, 2000, at the Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, Pa. He was 18 years of age.
The son of Virginia Johnson Lewis and the late Robert Paul Lewis Sr., he was born November 25, 1981, in Long Island.
He is survived by his mother, at home; four brothers, Dennis Lewis of Hancock, Stephen Lewis of Equinunk, Pa., Brian Lewis of Hankins and Matthew Lewis of Honesdale, Pa.; three sisters, Deborah Blum, Michelle Lewis and Megan Lewis, all of Equinunk, Pa. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Paul Lewis Jr. and two sisters, Kathleen Lewis and Jennifer Lewis.
There will be no visitation.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Hankins with the Rev. Robert Paquet officiating.
Burial will be made in the Braman Cemetery in Braman.

Raymond L. Baker
Ret. Stone Cutter, 78
Raymond L. Baker of Vestal, a lifelong Roscoe resident, a retired self-employed stone cutter and a sand hog during the tunnel construction, died Sunday, April 23, 2000, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton. He was 78 years of age.
The son of the late Clarence and Anna Tempel Baker, he was born March 12, 1922, in the Town of Colchester.
A World War II veteran, he served in the US Army Glider Infantry and was a member of the Harold Wood Post No. 5911, Veterans of Foreign Wars, in Roscoe. He was also a founding member of the Horsebrook Hunting Club and a communicant of Gate of Heaven Church, both in Roscoe.
He is survived by his step-mother, Christine Baker of Vestal; and several cousins.
Friends may call at the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Avenue, Roscoe, on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Gate of Heaven Church, Highland Ave., Roscoe, with the Rev. Alfred Croke officiating.

Andrew Fox, 85
Andrew Fox of White Sulphur Springs, a 12-year area resident, died Saturday, April 22, 2000, at his home. He was 85 years of age.
The son of the late Andrew and Annie Biggs Fox, he was born December 10, 1914, in New York City.
Mr. Fox was a member of Rose Valley Senior Citizens in Monticello and a member of St. Francis R.C. Church in Youngsville.
He is survived by his adopted family, Pat and Vinny Augustine of White Sulphur Springs.
