William B. Porter Jr.
Ret. from Met Life, 83

William Blacker Porter Jr. of Southbury, Conn., a longtime summer resident of Cochecton and a former resident of Parkchester in the Bronx, Maybrook and Beach Lake, Pa., died Friday, October 20, 2000, at the Danbury Hospital in Danbury, Conn. He was 83 years of age.
The son of the late William B. Sr. and Elizabeth Mulcahy Porter, he was born in 1917 in Elizabeth, N.J., and was raised in Manhattan.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Porter was an employee of Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in New York City for 44 years, retiring in 1979 as a manager in computer security for the electronic data processing department. He was among the first to enter the computer field at Met Life in 1956, working with the early univac machines.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Reith Porter (whose family, the Reiths and the Scotts, were early settlers in Cochecton Center and Callicoon Center); five children, William B. Porter III of Hopewell Junction, Marie F. Seeger of Woodbury, Conn., Carl A. Porter Sr. of Clarks Summit, Pa., George R. Porter of Gloversville, and Jeanne P. Borowski of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and eight grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Monday at St. Francis Xavier R.C. Church in Narrowsburg with the Rev. Thomas Jones officiating.
Interment was made in St. Francis Cemetery in Narrowsburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Xavier R.C. Church, Narrowsburg, N.Y. 12764.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Rasmussen Sons Funeral Home in Narrowsburg.

Peter Pepping
Ret. Driver, 80

Peter Pepping of Campbell Hall, a retired driver for the Mid-Hudson Psychiatric Center and a lifelong dairy farmer and area resident, died Sunday, October 22, 2000, at the Arden Hill Hospital. He was 80 years of age.
The son of the late Theodorus and Guurtje Veldt Pepping, he was born April 19, 1920, in Holland. He was the widower of Anna Alkemade Pepping.
Mr. Pepping was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Montgomery, the Maybrook Sportsman's Club, the Draft Horse Association and the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by a daughter, Truus M. Malley of Montgomery; two sons, Ted Pepping of Mountainville and William Pepping of Monticello; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at the Millspaugh Funeral Home, 22 Bank St., Walden, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Services will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. James VanHouten officiating.
Cremation will be made at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Campbell Hall Fire Department, Maybrook Rd., Campbell Hall, N.Y. 10916.

Margaret M. Fox
Homemaker, 86

Margaret M. Fox of Walden, a homemaker and longtime area resident, died Friday, October 20, 2000, in Goshen. She was 86 years of age.
The daughter of Joseph and Mary Conrad, she was born August 16, 1914, in Wimber, Pa.
Mrs. Fox was a member of Most Precious Blood Rosary Altar Society in Walden.
She is survived by her husband, Frederick E. Fox of Walden; two daughters and sons-in-law, Judith and Joseph Pistilli of Spring Hill, Fla., and Susan and John Bardin of Pine Bush; a brother, Joseph Conrad of Mountaindale; a sister, Anne Masloski of Newburgh; four grandchildren, Naydene Carmody, Mark Bardin, Tracey Behrens and Robert Pistilli; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Thoday and Helen Keturkis.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Monday at the Church of the Most Precious Blood in Walden.
Burial was made in the Wallkill Valley Cemetery in Walden.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Most Precious Blood, Walden, N.Y. 12586; or the charity of one's choice.

Morris Katzoff
Ret. Cochecton JP, 80

Morris Katzoff of Lake Huntington, a longtime area resident, died Friday, October 20, 2000, at the Ellen Memorial Health Care Center in Honesdale, Pa. He was 80 years of age.
The son of the late Samuel and Mary Katzoff, he was born November 6, 1919, in Detroit, Mich.
He owned/operated Katzoff's General Store in Lake Huntington from 1958 to 1973 and was renowned for making the best freshly cured corned beef in Sullivan County.
Mr. Katzoff served as a Town Justice for the Town of Cochecton for 12 years. He was an organizer and first president of the Cochecton Volunteer Ambulance Corps; a 55-year member of the Lake Huntington Fire Department; a 35-year Chairman of the Board of Fire Commissioners of the Cochecton Fire District; a past chancellor of the Knights of Pythias Castle Hall of Mt. Vernon Lodge #5; and a volunteer for the Office of the Aging.
In a family statement, it was said, "He was an avid fan of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and local sports teams."
He is survived by his wife, Elaine Werner Katzoff, at home; a son, Howard Katzoff of Clarksville, Md.; two daughters, Joanne Kraack of Lake Huntington and Barbara Katzoff of Los Angeles, Calif.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Solomon and Gertrude Katzoff of Lake Huntington and Herbert and Doris Katzoff of Syracuse; seven grandchildren, Jason, Jenna, Derin, Trisha, Lacey and Evan Kraack and Alexandra Katzoff; and two great-grandchildren, Derek and Stefanie Kraack. He was predeceased by a daughter, Lynne Kraack, and a brother, Bernard Katzoff.
Services were held Monday at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home in Monticello with Rabbi Irwin Tanenbaum officiating.
Burial was made in the Jeffersonville Synagogue Cemetery in Jeffersonville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lynne Kraack Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Narrowsburg School, Narrowsburg, N.Y. 12764 or to the Cochecton Volunteer Ambulance Corps, P.O. Box 4, Lake Huntington, N.Y. 12752.

Dolores C. Daubek, 93
Ret. Owner Bow/Arrow

Dolores C. Daubek of Roscoe, the retired co-owner of the Bow and Arrow Bar and Grill in Roscoe and a longtime area resident, died Saturday, October 21, 2000, at the Countryside Care Center in Delhi. She was 93 years of age.
The daughter of the late James and Mary Keegan Dempsey, she was born September 18, 1907, in Lancaster, N.Y. She was the widow of George J. Daubek who died September 20, 1993.
Mrs. Daubek is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and burial will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Bon Air Cemetery in Roscoe with the Rev. Alfred Croke officiating.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Harris Funeral Home in Roscoe.

Theresa De Angelo, 87

Theresa "Tesse" De Angelo, a 12-year resident of Monticello, died Friday, October 20, 2000, at the Walnut Mountain Care Center in Liberty. She was 87 years of age.
The daughter of the late Joseph and Louise Abidante De Angelo, she was born March 16, 1913, in New York City.
She attended the Sullivan County ARC Day Care Program.
There are no known survivors but her many friends at Sullivan ARC will miss her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Monticello with the Rev. Robert Ginel officiating.
Burial will be made in St. Peter's Cemetery in Monticello.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Ramsay's Funeral Home in Monticello.

Martin Diamond
Ret. Bartender, 87

Martin "Marty" Diamond of Monticello, a retired bartender for the Concord Hotel, a retired court officer in the Sullivan County Courts and a 44-year area resident, died Wednesday, October 4, 2000, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris. He was 87 years of age.
The son of the late Israel and Fannie Barnett Diamond, he was born December 14, 1912, in New York City.
A veteran, Mr. Diamond was a member of the Jesse Brams Post No. 209, Jewish War Veterans; the Landfield Avenue Synagogue and the Monticello Elks Lodge #1544, all in Monticello.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Sampson Diamond, at home; two daughters, Irene Greenfield of Monticello and Joan Diamond of San Francisco, Calif.; two grandchildren, Joseph Greenfield and his wife, Bonnie and Suzanne Lieberman and her husband, Barry. He was predeceased by three brothers.
Graveside services and burial were held Friday at the Landfield Avenue Synagogue Cemetery in Monticello with Rabbi Ben Zion Chanowitz officiating.
Shiva will be observed at 73 Liberty Street, Monticello.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Family Council of the Sullivan County Adult Care Center, Infirmary Road, Liberty, N.Y. 12754.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home in Monticello.

Dominick Mingolla
Ret. Attendant, 85

Dominick F. Mingolla of Middletown, a retired attendant at the state hospital in Middletown and a lifelong area resident, died Thursday, October 5, 2000 at St. Teresa's Nursing Home in Middletown. He was 85 years of age.
The son of the late Dominick and Maria Ciaccia Mingolla, he was born February 24, 1915, in Middletown.
Mr. Mingolla was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Middletown.
He is survived by a brother, Angelo Mingolla of Middletown; two sisters, Rose Perrello of Middletown and Justine Deitz of Roscoe; and 11 nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Church in Middletown.
Interment will be made in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Middletown.

Frank Bowman
Salad Chef, 61

Frank Bowman of South Fallsburg, a salad chef at the Gilbert Hotel and a more than 40-year area resident, died Monday, October 2, 2000, at his home. He was 61 years of age.
He was born January 31, 1939, in Philadelphia, Pa.
Mr. Bowman was a member of the South Fallsburg Baptist Church.
He is survived by many friends from the community and fellow employees.
Services were held Sunday at the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home in Woodbourne with the Rev. Anthony Black officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, South Fallsburg, N.Y. 12779.
