Mary Adamek of Barryville, a supervisor for the Department of Motor Vehicles in Monticello (DMV) and a lifelong area resident, died Friday, October 6, 2000, at St. Vincent's Hospital in New York City. She was 63 years of age.
The daughter of the late Eugene and Helen Clouse O'Neill, she was born December 23, 1936, in Eldred.
Mrs. Adamek was a member of St. Anthony's R.C. Church and the Yulan Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, both in Yulan, and chairman of the Democratic Committee, Town of Highland.
In a family statement, it was said, "Mary was an avid bowler and enjoyed Las Vegas and Atlantic City casinos."
She is survived by her husband, Walter Adamek, at home; and a son, Terry Adamek of Winchester, Va.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home in Port Jervis with the Rev. David Cramer officiating.
Burial will be made in St. Anthony's Cemetery in Eldred.

Richard Hughs of Grapevine, Tex., the owner/operator of Redifun Corp. in Texas, a flight simulators company, died Wednesday, October 4, 2000, in Grapevine. He was 49 years of age.
The son of Arnold and Eleanor Hannay Hughs, he was born August 21, 1951, in Monticello.
He is survived by his parents of Dunnellon, Fla.; his wife, Kim Carnahan Hughs, a son, Ryan Hughs, and a daughter, Hannah, all at home; two sisters, Renee Somers of Monticello and Gwynne Blum of Wall, N.J.; a brother, Robert Hughs of New York; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Tuesday in Texas.
A memorial service is being planned in Dunnellon, Fla.
Local arrangements were made by the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home in Monticello.

Machine Oper., 53
Errol "Leroy" Morris of Monticello, a machine operator at VAW in Ellenville, died Saturday, October 7, 2000, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris. He was 53 years of age.
He was born August 2, 1947, in St. Vincent's, West Indies.
He is survived by his mother, Joyce Morris of Monticello; a son, Kevin Morris of Monticello; and an aunt, Olga "Toy" Libert of Monticello.
Friends may call at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 195 Broadway, Monticello, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's R.C. Church in Monticello with the Rev. Robert Ginel officiating.
Interment will be made in St. Peter's Cemetery in Monticello.
Karen Redden
Homemaker, 31
Karen Redden of Monticello, a homemaker and lifelong area resident, died Thursday, October 5, 2000, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris. She was 31 years of age.
The daughter of James Waters and the late Thelma Williams Waters, she was born February 10, 1969, in Monticello.
She is survived by her father of Monticello; a son, Bobby Waters, and a daughter, Thelma McCreary, both at home; a sister, Sharon Miller of Monticello; and several aunts, uncles and cousins, including Ruth Williams of New York City.
Friends may call at the First Baptist Church, Liberty Street, Monticello, from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wedneday at the church with the Rev. Daniel Zabaleta officiating.
Burial will be made in the Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello.
Funeral arrangements were made by the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home in Monticello.
Richard VanGinhoven
Ret. Truck Driver, 53
Richard VanGinhoven, a 14-year resident of Mammoth Springs, Ark., a retired truck driver and a former resident of Fremont Center and Obernburg, died Wednesday, October 4, 2000, at the Baxter County Regional Hospital in Mountain Home, Ark., after a long bout with juvenile diabetes. He was 53 years of age.
He was born in Callicoon.
He graduated from Delaware Valley Central School in 1953 and was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.
Mr. VanGinhoven is survived by his wife, Joan VanGinhoven, at home; three daughters, Lynette Mills of Thayer, Mo., Jeanette Beach of Kansas City, Mo., and Billie Jo VanGinhoven of Mammoth Springs, Ark.; a; son, Richard VanGinhoven II of Mammoth Springs, Ark.; his parents, Frank and Elva Gillette VanGinhoven of Gibsonton, Fla.; three sisters, Racheal Gustina of Corning, Eileen Bernitt of French Woods, and Kristen Hall of Gibsonton, Fla.; two brothers, Paul VanGinhoven of Charlotteville and Frank "Sam" VanGinhoven of Gibsonton, Fla.; six grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Memorial services were held October 6 at the Clary Chapel in Mammoth Springs, Ark.

Kevin J. Lake of Beacon and native of Roscoe, died Wednesday, October 11, 2000, at the Albany Medical Center. He was 42.
Friends may call at the Harris Funeral Home in Roscoe on Friday, 7-9 p.m.
Services at 10 a.m. Saturday in the United Church of Roscoe.

Ret. Nurses Aide, 69
Helen M. Lawrence of Lew Beach, a retired nurses aide at the Roscoe Community Nursing Home in Roscoe and a lifelong area resident, died Sunday, October 8, 2000, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris. She was 69 years of age.
The daughter of the late Arthur Sr. and Lilly Barry Bowers, she was born March 30, 1931, in Roscoe.
Mrs. Lawrence was secretary of the Rockland Development Corporation.
In a family statement, it was said, "She was a beloved wife and a loving mother and grandmother."
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Robert H. Lawrence Sr., at home; a daughter, Lillian Buck of Roscoe; a son, Robert H. Lawrence Jr. of Goshen; two sisters, Etta Bartschi of Roscoe and Vivian Merrill of Horton Brook; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Arthur Bowers Jr., Otto Bowers and Francis Bowers.
Services were held Thursday at the Harris Funeral Home in Roscoe with the Rev. Bridgette LeConey officiating.
Burial was made in the Riverview Cemetery in Roscoe.

Darren M. Foss of Rock Hill, the owner of D&L Quality Construction and a lifelong area resident, died unexpectedly Sunday, October 8, 2000, in Tabernacle Township, N.J. He was 35 years of age.
The son of Linda Smith and Darrel Foss, he was born March 22, 1965, in Monticello.
A graduate of Monticello High School Class of 1983, Mr. Foss was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. He was a member of the American Motocross Association and Ridgerunners Hunting Camp.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Bialo Foss, a son, Dustin Foss and a daughter, Deara Lin Foss, all at home; his mother of Liberty; his father of Hernando, Fla.; two brothers, Brian Foss of Monticello and Brendan Pavese of Woodbourne; his maternal grandmother, Claire Smith of Monticello; and his paternal grandparents, Gerry and Gil Foss of Zephyrhills, Fla.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church of Monticello, 255 Broadway, Monticello.
Burial will be made in the Laurel Hill Cemetery in White Sulphur Springs.

Joan Laura Williamson of Slate Hill, a retired switchboard operator for the Orange County Infirmary, Orange County BOCES and Rupp Southern Tier Trucking in Middletown, entered into rest, Tuesday, October 10, 2000, at the Horton Medical Center in Middletown after a long illness. She was 64 years of age.
The daughter of Tracy Coddington and Estelle Conklin Featherman, she was born February 25, 1936, in Goshen.
Mrs. Williamson was a member of the American Legion Post 151 Ladies Auxiliary and Webb Horton Presbyterian Church in Middletown.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Ann Williamson of Wurtsboro; two daughters and a son-in-law, Cheryl and Rick Matuszewski of Bloomingburg and Nancy Baker of Middletown; a step-son and his wife, Gary and Laurie Williamson of Middletown; and nine grandchildren, Melissa, Shawn and his fianceé Lulu Keirstin, Tarlyn, Todd, Kaela, Tracie, Zachary and Joshua.

Ret. Collision Expert, 79
Richard B. Downs of Liberty, a retired self-employed collision expert in Queens and a 12-year area resident, died Tuesday, October 10, 2000, at the Walnut Mountain Care Center in Liberty. He was 79 years of age.
The son of the late Samuel and Agnes O'Brian Downs, he was born November 17, 1920, in Trenton, N.J.
A World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, he served from 1939 to 1945. Mr. Downs was a member of Liberty Elks Lodge #1545 and an assistant scoutmaster for Troops 95 and 96 in Liberty.
In a family statement, it was said, "He was a loving father, husband and grandfather and will be missed by all."
He is survived by his wife, Mary Mitchell Downs, at home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard B. Jr. and Marilyn Downs of Equinunk, Pa., and Thomas M. and Rose Downs of Grahamsville; a daughter, Patricia Downs, at home; a sister, Marion Hearn of New York City; and two grandsons, Mitchell Downs and Gregory Allen U.S.A.F. He was predeceased by 13 brothers and sisters.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Ramsay's Funeral Home with the Rev. Francis Waite officiating.
Burial will be made in the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty.
