Arthur Rodgers Sr., 53
Holiness Church Deacon

Arthur Lewis Rodgers Sr. of Monticello, a member and and ordained deacon of the Little Grove Holiness Church in Woodridge, died Sunday, October 8, 2000. He was 53 years of age.
The son of the late Boley and Nancy Rodgers, he was born August 11, 1947, in Beaufort County, N.C.
Mr. Rodgers attended Williamston High School and was employed by the Monticello School District for many years.
In a family statement, it was said, "He was a faithful, willing worker for Christ. During his time of sickness, he was always encouraging and spreading the good news about Jesus. He kept true to the scripture 'Be thou faithful until death.' Arthur, as most people knew him, let his work speak for him. Whether he was offering a helping hand to fix your car or just had a friendly wave and smile, all who knew him loved him."
He is survived by his wife, Hazel Godley Rodgers, at home; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, James Arthur and Phyllis Rodgers, Asa and Betty Rodgers, and his twin brother, Robert Rodgers; two sisters, and brothers-in-law, Della and Samuel Spell and Anna and Jesse Little all of Washington, N.C.; five sons, Arthur Rodgers Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, and Derrick Rodgers, all of Monticello, and Andre, Tommy and Kirk Meredith all of Brooklyn; three daughters, Shawnette Meredith, Gina Martinez and her husband, Ismael, and LaVette Meredith of Brooklyn; five granddaughters and a grandson; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends "to cherish what he gave us all —Love."
Services were held Thursday at King's Chapel in Monticello with Bishop T.E. Ward officiating.
Interment was made in Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello.
Funeral arrangements were made by Ramsay's Funeral Home in Monticello.

Antonio Esposito
Ret. Mechanic, 69

Antonio "Tony" Esposito of Callicoon, a retired mechanic and a 21-year area resident, died Wednesday, October 11, 2000, at the Grover M. Hermann Division of Community General Hospital in Callicoon. He was 69 years of age.
The son of the late Sebastiano and Margaret Liberti Esposito, he was born June 17, 1931, in Italy.
He was a member of Holy Cross Church and the Delaware Council #4478, Knights of Columbus, both in Callicoon.
Mr. Esposito is survived by his wife, Alfonsina "Frances" Bernadino Esposito at home; two daughters, Margaret Porter and Cindy Esposito, both of Callicoon; two sons, Antonio Esposito Jr. of Bear, Del., and Samuel Esposito of Littleton, Colo.; a sister, Maria Marrotta of New Jersey; and eight grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Callicoon on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Saturday at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Church in Callicoon with the Rev. Ignatius Smith, OFM, officiating.
Burial will be made in Calvary Cemetery in Youngsville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Frances Esposito, 153 Gabel Rd., Callicoon, N.Y. 12723.

Michael S. Mentnech
Ret. Dept. of Health, 52

Michael Sharon Mentnech of Morgantown, W. Va., died Thursday, December 21, 2000, at her home. She was 52 years of age.
The daughter of the late Auburn Sr. and Juanita Stover Taylor Snyder, she was born April 6, 1948, in McDowell County.
Mrs. Mentnech was a graduate of West Virginia Univeristy with a Master's degree in Microbiology. She retired from the Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Disease Control and National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health in 1986.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Mentnech, a son, Sean Mentnech and a daughter, Katherine Mentnech, all of Morgantown, W. Va.; a sister, Patricia Furner of Lafayette, Ind.,; two brothers, Gene Snyder and Auburn Synder Jr. of Princeton, W. Va.; her mother-in-law, Betty Mentnech of Woodbourne; and a brother-in-law, Michael Mentnech of Hawaii.
Services were held December 23 with the Rev. William Metheny officiating.
Burial was made in the Forks of the Cheat Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 25, Morgantown, W. Va. 26505.

Betty M. Fulton
Homemaker, 80

Betty M. Fulton of Narrowsburg, a homemaker and a longtime area resident, died Friday, January 12, 2001, at the Community Medical Center in Scranton, Pa., following a long illness. She was 80 years of age.
The daughter of Joseph and Evelyn DeCavage, she was born December 30, 1920, in Cleveland, Ohio.
In a famiy statement, it was said that Mrs. Fulton "was a devoted wife, having enjoyed 60 years of marriage with her husband, Clinton. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a lover of nature and enjoyed playing the accordion and harmonica."
She is survived by her husband, Clinton, at home; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Margaret and Joseph Morton of Liberty, Ann Marie Strouse of Matamoras, Pa., and Muriel and Barney Bartolini of San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Evelyn; a brother, Joseph; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Deighton.
Private services were held Sunday at the Rasmussen Sons Funeral Home in Narrowsburg with the Rev. Thomas Jones officiatig.
Cremation was made at the Twin Tiers Crematory in Endicott.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, ORS Region, 407 East Main St., 2nd floor, Middletown, N.Y. 10940.

Arlene Highhouse
School Supervisor, 58

Arlene Highhouse of Shiloh, Ill., a noon-hour supervisor for the O'Fallon School District 90 at LaVerna Evans School, died Friday, January 12, 2001, in Shiloh. She was 58 years of age.
The daughter of the late Arthur Olson and Rosemary Lind Kunze, she was born June 14, 1942, in the Bronx.
Mrs. Highhouse was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Shiloh.
She is survived by her husband, Milton D. Highhouse, at home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberley and Brian Witkowski of North Grosvernordale, Conn., Lori and Jeff Schatz of Carlyle, Ill., and Kristen and Scott Shirley of Oglesby, Ill; a son, Mark Highhouse of Chicago, Ill.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Donna Kunze of Maybrook, Matthew and Wendy Kunze of Roscoe and Edwin and Barbara Kunze of Albany; five grandchildren, Rebecca Witkowski, Matthew Witkowski, Lauren Schatz, Ben Joseph Schatz and Allison Shirley; her mother-in-law, Vera Highhouse, and a brother-in-law and his wife, Ronald and Judy Highhouse, all of Hortonville; and two sisters-in-law, Linda of Florida and Patricia of Cortland.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Monday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Shiloh with Father Carl Sherrer officiating.
Burial of the cremains was made in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Shiloh, Ill.
Memorial contributions may be made to LaVerna Evans School or the American Heart Association.

John A. Vealey
Ret. Store Mgr., 56

John Alan Vealey, a five-year resident of Avon Park, Fla., and a former manager of a grocery store, died Friday, January 5, 2001, at his home. He was 56 years of age.
The son of Marjorie Monks Vealey and the late Charles H. Vealey, he was born August 17, 1944, in Warwick.
Mr. Vealey was a member of Moose Lodge #2494 in Avon Park, Fla.
He is survived by his mother and step-father Marjorie and Claude Ryan of Avon Park, Fla.; a son, Brendon Vealey of Schenectady; three daughters, Dina Beers of Montgomery, Jennifer Collins of Ogdensberg, N.J., and Colleen Vealey of Schenectady; two brothers, Charles Vealey Jr. of Warwick and George Vealey of Troy; two step-brothers, Lloyd Ryan of Bloomingburg and Mark Ryan of Circleville; a step-sister, Karen Horton of Otisville; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services and interment will be held later at the Warwick Cemetery in Warwick.

Luella Howard, 97
Ret. Pharmacy Clerk

Luella H. Browne Howard of Binghamton died Wednesday, January 10, 2001, at the Good Shepherd Fairview Nursing Facility in Binghamton. She was 97 years of age. She was predeceased by two husbands, Lt. Col. Raymond W. Browne and Leroy Howard.
Mrs. Howard worked for many years at the Hillcrest Pharmacy and at Mel's Pharmacy. She was a former member of the Immanuel Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Barbara Moran and Connie and Harold Lee, all of Kirkwood, and Lucy and Philip Chamberlain of Deer Harbor, Wash.; a son, and daughter-in-law, Raymond W. and Linda Browne of White Lake; 20 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a step-daughter, Joyce, and her husband, Ed Tinklepaugh of Syracuse; a brother, Adelbert Gee of Kirkwood; and a niece, Reba Williams of Springfield, Oreg.
Services were held Monday at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home in Port Dickinson with the Rev. Judy Wanck officiating.
Interment was made in the Chenango Valley Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Good Shepherd Fairview Living Care Fund, 80 Fairview Ave., Binghamton, N.Y. 13904.

Margit V. Seccia
Homemaker, 86

Margit V. Seccia of Equinunk, Pa., died on Tuesday, October 31, 2000, following an illness. She was 86 years of age.
The daughter of the late Villie and Svea Nielsen Larsen, she was born October 24, 1914, in Copenhagen, Denmark.
A devoted housewife for 60 years, she helped her husband maintain his Boy Scout tenure during their marriage. She immigrated from Denmark to Brooklyn in August of 1929 and met her husband in 1930. They moved to Pine Mill in 1968. She loved crocheting and knitting and visited at the Senior Citizens Center every Friday.
Mrs. Seccia was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Parish and attended St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Rileyville. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to American Legion Post #765 in Lookout, Pa.
She is survived by her husband, Anthony John Seccia, at home; two sons, Frank Seccia and John Seccia, both of Brooklyn; a daughter, Bethann Seccia of Brooklyn; seven grandchildren, Lisa, Patricia, Andrea, Peter, John, Marc and Bethann; nine great-grandchildren, Amanda, Nicholas, Anthony, Mallory, Richard, Thomas, Arnold, Derek and Farrah. She was predeceased by two brothers, Henry and William Larsen, and a sister, Gerta Wiley.
Friends may call at the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, 1228 North Main Street, Honesdale, on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church in Rileyville.
Interment will be made in the Pine Mill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Jennie Zalewski
Homemaker

Jennie Zalewski of Valley Stream, a former Bloomingburg resident, died Saturday, October 28, 2000.
She is survived by a son, Richard Zalewski; two daughters, Regina DeMarino and Roberta Trombley; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was the widow of Victor Zalewski.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Wednesday at St. Paul's R.C. Church in Bullville.
Interment was made in the Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery in Bloomingburg.
