Luella A. “Corky” Tenbus of Narrowsburg, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2007 at Ellen Memorial Home. She was 78. She was married for 56 years to John Tenbus.
Mrs. Tenbus was born in Honesdale, Pa. on September 21, 1928, the daughter of the late Arthur “Parker” and Annie Klein Dexter.
She was a graduate of Narrowsburg High School and had worked at Peck's Market for 25 years. She was a past member of the Tusten Vol. Ambulance Corps and was a member of the "Fireside Good Times Gang."
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed traveling and spoiling her grandchildren. She was involved in helping people in the community.
She is survived by two daughters, Tina and her husband, Randall Pierce, of Reno, Nev. and Judy and her husband, Gary Eisenhauer, of Lakeville, Pa.; one son, Terry Tenbus and his wife, Margy, of Lava; five grandchildren, Jessica and John Tenbus, Natalie and Emily Pierce and Kelly Nordenhold; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three sisters, Dorothy Murtha, Laura Alvarez and Emma Menotti.
Friends may call on Tuesday, February 27 from 6-9 p.m. at Rasmussen Funeral Home, 90 Main St., Narrowsburg.
Religious Services will be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home in Narrowsburg on Wednesday, February 28 with the Rev. Phyllis Haynes officiating.
Interment will be made in Glen Cove Cemetery.

Gladys Chudik
Ret. teacher, 89
Gladys Chudik of Mileses, entered into rest on March 1, 2007. She was born on March 9, 1917. She was 89 years old. She was predeceased by her late husband, John D. Chudik.
Gladys was a preschool teacher prior to her retirement. She had many accomplishments in her life and held much pride in receiving her Childhood Development Certificate from SCCC at the age of 80 in 1997. Gladys touched many lives with her sense of humor, her warm, loving personality, and her incredible inner strengths. She will be deeply missed by her family and her friends.
She is survived by her children, Bonnie and Brian Szawiola, of Mileses; Robin McElroy, of Callicoon; John and Ellen Chudik of Mileses; and Laurie and John Masten of Jeffersonville; nine grandchildren, Sheri Papp of Cleveland, Ohio; Justin McElroy of Callicoon, Kevin McElroy of Callicoon; Danielle, Colleen and John Chudik of Mileses; and Annalise and John Masten of Jeffersonville. She is also survived by three great grandchildren, Alexandra Papp of Cleveland, Ohio; Joseph Perrault of Cleveland, Ohio; and James McElroy of Hortonville.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, March 4, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Stewart - Murphy Funeral Home in Callicoon. Funeral service will be held on Monday, March 5, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be made at the Fremont Center Cemetery, Fremont Center.
Milton Hingen
Counselor, 58
Milton Aaron Hingen, a lifelong resident of Woodridge and has been employed as a counselor for the Sullivan ARC where he has worked for more than 20 years and has received several awards over the years, died unexpectedly on Sunday, February 25 in Florida. He was 58.
Milt was born in Patterson, NJ on November 28, 1948, the son of Helen Kinstler Hingen and the late Sidney Hingen.
He will fondly be remembered for his loving, kind and good humored ways by all, especially his extended family including his many cousins and their families.
He is survived by his mother, Helen Kinstler Hingen at home in Woodridge and several of his first cousins who grew up in the Catskills with Milt including; Carol Hingen Kline, Arnold Hingen and Barbara Deutsch Frishman of Florida, Howard Deutsch of New Jersey, Bernie Deutsch of Connecticut and Sam Rosenzweig of Massachusetts, and a host of other cousins and extended family.
Funeral services were held at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home, Inc., Monticello, on Thursday, March 1. Burial followed at the Workman's Circle #281 Cemetery, Marsh Road in Glen Wild.
Contributions in memory of Milt can be made to the Sullivan ARC or the Adult Day Program of the Catskill Regional Medical Center.

Edith Grant
Homemaker, 88
Edith S. Grant, of White Sulphur Springs, a homemaker and lifetime area resident, died on Monday, February 26, 2007 at the Roscoe Community Nursing Home. She was 88.
The daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Purdy, she was born on September 27, 1918 in Poughkeepsie.
She was a member of the White Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her son, William "Lee" Grant and his wife Brenda of White Sulphur Springs; four grandchildren: Tracey Argent, Troy Grant, Jason Grant and Trevor Grant and three great-grandchildren: Ashley, Brittney and Katlin Argent. She was predeceased by her husband Omer Grant and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at Ramsay’s Funeral Home in Liberty, on Friday, March 2, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Bridgette LeConey officiating. Burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery in White Sulphur Springs.

Lena Baumann
Fmr. Business Owner, 92
Lena “Lee” Baumann of Liberty, N.Y., passed away February 25, 2007 in Catskill Regional Medical Center Harris. She was 92.
She was born in Summerton, SC on October 5, 1914. Her parents were Reubin and Sarah Gordin. She was predeceased by her late husband L. Leonard Baumann.
Lee was the owner of the Sullivan County Travel Bureau from 1967 until her retirement in 1996. She was a life member of Hadassah, Sisterhood of Congregation Ahavath Israel, and the Liberty Chamber of Commerce where she was honored with a lifetime achievement award. She has always been known for her loving nature, caring heart and her spirit.
Survivors include her children: Aaron and Stanley Baumann of Los Angeles, Calif., Reva Mishkin of New York City; her grandchildren: Lauren Henry, Daniel Baumann, Jason Baumann, Leilah Simcha Baumann and Celina Baumann and her great-grandchildren: Kiera Henry, Kai Henry and Kelsie Baumann.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 2, at 11:30 a.m. in Congregation Ahavath Israel Synagogue Chestnut St., Liberty, N.Y. Rabbi Marvin Goldman will officiate. Burial will be in Ahavath Israel Cemetery, Hy-San-na Road, Liberty.
The family will receive visitors at the family home in Liberty, from Friday evening through Sunday.

Plumber, 51
Debra A. “Debbie” Fallon, of White Lake, a longtime area resident, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 25, 2007 at the Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, N.Y. She was 51.
Daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret Dicks Fallon, she was born on April 30, 1955 in Brooklyn. She was a plumber for Silverman Mechanical in Mongaup Valley, N.Y.
Debbie is survived by her companion, Linda Vassmer at home; a daughter, Karen Fallon of Woburn, Mass.; four sisters, Pat Mulligan and husband Mike of Smallwood, Wendy Fallon of Hyde Park, N.Y., Holly Fiedy and husband Nadr of California and Bonnie Reilly and husband Patrick of Brooklyn; two grandchildren, Diedre and Azaria Fallon and by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and a very large extended family and many friends. She was predeceased by her mom, Jeanne Dixon.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 28 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Ramsay's Funeral Home, 3534 Rt. 55, Kauneonga Lake.
Funeral services were held on Thursday March 1, at the funeral home at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Kenneth Rodgers officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
William Wheeler
Consultant, 52
William Kenneth "Rudy" Wheeler, of South Fallsburg, N.Y., departed this life Saturday, February 24, 2007, at the Catskill Regional Medical Center. He was 52.
He was born to the late Beatrice and William Kenneth Wheeler March 17, 1954 in Suffolk Va. Rudy was raised in the Bronx.
He received his education in the Bronx Public School System. Rudy worked for MB Consultants LTD in Fallsburg.
Rudy leaves to cherish his memories three sons: William, Anthony and Kenneth; one daughter-in-law, Monique Lewis; one granddaughter, Natia-Vence; one sister, Linda Diana Steward; two brothers, William (Randy) Wheeler and Bruce Sylvester Wheeler; two aunts, Shirley Snype and Wadie Barrett, both of the Bronx; cousins, Jeff, Chris, Scarlett, Barbette, Kim, David and William and host of nieces and nephews and his very special friend, Willie Anne Davis and family, and May Lois and family.
Funeral services were held at the funeral home with the Rev. Lee Andrews officiating. Interment followed in the Woodbourne Reformed Church Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Colonial Memorial Funeral Home.
Frank Miner
Fmr. area resident, 101
Frank L. Miner “Pop” of Spring Valley, passed away at his home on February 22, 2007 at the age of 101.
He was the son of the late Eva Knickerbocker and Wilbur Miner. His wife of 49 years, Harriet Blauvelt Miner, predeceased him in June of 1984.
He is survived by his daughters, Lois Miner of Pomona, and Janet Miner Concklin of Congers. He is also survived by four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, as well as four nieces and four nephews.
He was born in Beaverkill on February 3, 1906, and was the last surviving son in his family of five siblings. He graduated from Livingston Manor High School in approximately 1923 at age 17, whereupon he was offered a teaching position in Shandelee in a one-room schoolhouse. He was responsible for teaching all the elementary grades. He continued his schooling and eventually graduated from New York University in 1937 with a graduate degree in Education.
He moved to Spring Valley about this time and was offered a position to teach at Spring Valley High School in their Business Department, where he remained as Chairman of the Department until he retired in 1969.
He taught many students over the course of years who still remember him to this day and still hold him in high regard as someone who took the time and effort to be helpful.
The family will receive friends between 1 and 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 3, at the Cornerstone Community Church of Grooville. A reception will follow the 2 p.m. service, which will be conducted by his niece, the Rev. Ora Cook, at the church. Interment will be at the Beaverkill Cemetery, Beaverkill, where he joins his wife and most other family members.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to United Hospice of Rockland, 11 Stokum La., New City, NY 10956.
