U.S., Obituary Collection, 1930-Current

Brian Crawford, 45

Brian Keith Crawford of Tampa, Fla., formerly of Monticello, passed away March 11, 2007. He was 45.
Brian was a graduate of Monticello High School. He was proud to be an HIV survivor for 21 years.
He is survived by his life partner of 26 years, Horst Glamsch; his father, Larry; brother, Steven and wife, Karen; sister, Debra Steingart; nephews, Ehren and Christopher Steingart; and many cousins and close friends.
He was predeceased by his mother, Alberta Crawford; and his grandmother, Ethel Ritzel.
A Memorial Service was held Sunday, March 19 at Metropolitan Community Church of Tampa. Brian wanted the service theme to be "yellow" and not "black."
In lieu of flowers or live plants, etc., memorial contributions may be made to the Francis House, 4703 N. Florida Ave., Tampa, FL 33606.
Services were entrusted to Brewer & Sons Funeral Home, Miguel Fuentes Chapel.

Jack Jancko
Retired Bldg. Contractor, 80

Jack Jancko of Plantation, Fla., a former longtime resident of Hurleyville and retired building contractor in Sullivan County and the Catskills for many years, died on Monday, March 20, 2007 in Jackson Memorial Hospital Miami, Fla. He was 80.
Jack was born on April 22, 1926 in the Bronx, the son of Nathan and Betty Jancko. He was the widow of Dorothy Chako King Jancko who passed in 1999.
He is survived by his son, Joel Jancko and his wife, Pam of Plantation, Fla.; his two step sons, Thomas King and his wife, Nancy of Masten Lake and William King of New York City; his brother, Ruben Jancko; his grandchildren, Cori Jancko Schwartzberg and her husband, Jordan and Barri Jancko Katz and her husband, Jason; his step grandchildren, Jennifer, Shawn, Ashley and Corey King and his great grandchildren, Lexi and Zoe Schwartzberg and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Thursday at the Mountaindale Synagogue Cemetery, Glen Wild.
Funeral arrangements were made by Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home Inc., Monticello.

Pauline “Polly” Clune
Nurse, 91

Pauline "Polly" Clune of Port Jervis, died Sunday, March 25, 2007 at St. Joseph's Place, Port Jervis. She was 91.
She was born October 2, 1915 in Hancock. She was married to the late Francis M. Clune who died June 15, 1958.
Polly was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church, Port Jervis, Catholic Daughters Of Americas, Court Madonna No. 114, Port Jervis, and a past member of the PTA at the Port Jervis East Main St. School. She then joined the Port Jervis Volunteer Ambulance Corps where she served for more than 15 years. She was a past president of the Salvation Army Ladies Auxiliary where she helped with many fundraisers, and was a past secretary for the Port Jervis Democratic Committee. She worked with the Red Cross Blood Mobiles, helping the flood victims of Port Jervis, and was a volunteer with Operation Depot and the AARP.
Polly worked for eight years in the Monticello Hospital as a nurse, seven years in Dr. Sunnyside Hospital, and many years in the St. Francis Hospital. Home nursing was one of Polly's greatest jobs in life, simply helping and caring for sick people. She often had in-home patients for 2-3 years who could not afford to pay. Polly cared for them because nursing was a true love of hers.
A family statement reads, “Polly was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great- great-grandmother to her 105 grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends that she touched in her 91 years.”
Surviving are five sons, Thomas Clune and his wife, Sherry of Bumpass, Va., Francis Clune of Port Jervis, Clare Clune of Port Jervis, Daniel Clune and his wife, Sharon of Port Jervis and Donald Clune and his wife, Maryann of Sparrowbush; four daughters, Sally Enright of Port Jervis, Betty Clune of Sherburne, Maryann Clune of Sidney, and Rosemarie Clune of Port Jervis, 35 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Laura Clune.
Funeral services were held March 29. Prayer was at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, Port Jervis followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's R.C. Church, Port Jevis. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Port Jervis.

Sean McKeever Jr.
Engineer, 28

Sean Michael McKeever Jr. of Wurtsboro, an engineer for the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 30 in White Plains, apparently died unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 20, 2007 in Tarrytown. He was 28.
The son of Sean Michael Mc-Keever Sr. and the late Sarah Faden McKeever, he was born July 10, 1978 in Queens.
He is survived by his father of Bloomingburg; a daughter, Hailey Genovese; two sisters, Teresa McKeever and Mary Walsh and her husband, Edward; a nephew, Kyle McKeever; his high school sweetheart, Melanie Dean, all of Wurtsboro; and his extended family and many friends.
Although his remains have not yet been recovered, his family held a memorial visitation on Wednesday, March 28 at the VanInwegen-Kenny Inc. Funeral Home, Wurtsboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New York State Police Diving Team, 1220 Washington Avenue, Albany, NY 12226 or to any local dive team.

Sandra A. Bolton
Retired Bookkeeper, 61

Sandra A. Bolton of Lawrenceville, NJ and formerly of Eldred died Friday, March 23, 2007 at her home. She was 61.
The daughter of the late Charles "Al" Sharkey and Buelah Comstock Sharkey, she was born January 25, 1946 in Callicoon.
Sandra was a retired Bookeeper for Sullivan Co. Dept of Public Health, Liberty. She was a member of The Eldred United Methodist Church; she was active with the Eldred American Legion; and a part of the Town of Highland Democratic Committee.
She is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Bolton and his wife, Staci of Lawrenceville, NJ, and Steven Bolton and his wife, Karen of Clermont, Fla.; her step-brother, Alfred Wells of the State of Florida; and three grandchildren, Julian, Cole, and Stefanie.
She was predeceased by her stepmother, Florence Sharkey.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday at Eldred United Methodist Church. The Rev. Linda Bohs officiated.
Burial was made in Montoza Cemetery, Barryville.
Contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society.
Funeral arrangements were made by Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home Inc. in Port Jervis.

Loie Davidson Smith
Homemaker, 85

Loie Davidson Smith of Church Hill, Maryland died December 5, 2006 at her home. She was 85.
Born January 15, 1921 in Livingston Manor, she was the daughter of the late Neil and Etta Scudder Davidson. She was married to Joseph P. Smith for 64 years, and he preceded her in death in August 2005.
She graduated from Livingston Manor High School and in 1941 married Joseph Smith. They moved around the U.S. while Mr. Smith was in the U.S. Army and settled in Queenstown, Maryland. Upon her husband’s retirement in 1979, they moved to Florida where they enjoyed square dancing and were active with the Moose Lodge. Mrs. Smith held numerous positions, including president of the Women of the Moose Lodge, and was a lifelong member of Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Brooks; three grandchildren, Judy Larrimore and her husband, Dale, and Terri Sanderson all of Maryland, and Robert Sanderson of Fla.; three great- granddaughters, Shelby and Shannon Larrimore and Paige Sanderson of Maryland; and several cousins, nieces and nephews, many of whom reside in Livingston Manor and the surrounding area.
A memorial service will be held April 2 at 1 p.m. at Herbert C. Bryant Funeral Home, Livingston Manor.

Edna Scott Armstrong
Retired R.N., 90

Edna Scott Armstrong passed away peacefully on March 27, 2007 at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty. She was 90.
She was born August 1, 1916 in Bergenfield, NJ. She graduated from Damascus High School and Holy Name Hospital School of Nursing in Teaneck, NJ. For many years she was a registered nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern. Edna was a former resident of Ramsey, NJ. She retired with her husband, Richard, to Toms River, NJ where he passed away in 1984. She loved nursing, bridge and trips to Atlantic City.
She is survived by her daughter, Priscilla “Pat” Cory Cowen of Jeffersonville and St. Petersburg, Fla.; two sons, Richard Armstrong of Anchorage, Alaska and Bill Armstrong of Deltona, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan County, 800 Stony Brook Road, Newburgh, NY 12550 or Family Council of Sullivan County Care Center, 256 Sunset Lake Road, Liberty, NY 12754.
Burial and services will be graveside at Calvary R.C. Cemetery in Youngsville near her parents, Sadie and Bill Scott, at the convenience of the family.
Cremation will be arranged by Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville.

Seth O. Campbell
Ret. Union Carpenter, 67

Seth O. "Red" Campbell of Walton, a retired union carpenter and a lifelong area resident, died Monday, March 26, 2007 at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 67.
The son of the late Donald Z. and Pauline H. Kinney Campbell, he was born July 23, 1939 in Norwich.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He had worked for Local #19 and Local #12 Carpenter Unions.
Survivors include his longtime companion, Betty Jefferson of Grahamsville, and her family; three daughters, Connie Yarman and her husband, Steve, and Violet Campbell and her companion, Jeff Thompson, all of Parish; and Pattie Closs and her husband, Arthur, of Horton; one son, James Campbell of Walton; several brothers and sisters; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the widower of Anna M. Cezanne Campbell who died in 1992.
Friends may call on Saturday, March 31 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave., Roscoe.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 31 at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Guice officiating.
Burial will be made in the spring at Oxford Cemetery, Oxford.

Edward W. Cousin
Retired Sales Manager, 90

Edward W. Cousin of Circleville, a 53-year area resident, died Tuesday, March 27, 2007 in O.R.M.C., Horton Campus in Middletown. He was 90.
A son of Edward Cousin and Mary Bernhardt Cousin, he was born October 15, 1916 in New York.
A veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps; he was a member of V.F.W. Post #4947 in Wurtsboro. He was a retired sales manager for A.C.F. Industries in New York, and after his retirement worked at Ayres and Galloway Hardware Store in Middletown. He was a member of the Bullville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Roberta B. Cooper Cousin, at home; one brother, Robert Cousin of Highview (Bloomingburg), and sister-in-law, Evelyn Croft of Middletown.
There will be no public visitation.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 30 in the Cornelius, Dodd & Connell, Inc. Funeral Home, 26 Grove St., Middletown, with the Rev. Amanda Iahn officiating.
Interment will be in Bullville Cemetery, Bullville.
