Operating Engineer, 55
Roy J. Wright Jr. of Forestburgh, an operating engineer at the Monticello Raceway, died Thursday, March 29, 2007 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 55.
The son of the late Roy J. Wright Sr. and Delores Drowns Wright, he was born October 29, 1951 in Monticello.
He was a member of the Monticello Elks Lodge #1544, the Moose Lodge in Quakertown, Pa. and the Operating Engineers, Local Union #825 in Springfield, NJ.
Survivors include his wife: Patricia Ann Smith Wright, at home; a son: Roy J. Wright III of Houston, Tex.; a daughter: Linda Robinson of Brasington, Fla.; two brothers: Wayne Wright and his wife Debbie of Monticello and Kenneth Wright of Indiana; six stepchildren: Richard Hallock, Roseann Bensley, Timothy Hallock, Perry Hallock, Doreen Marinelli and Laurie Hallock; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 1 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway, Monticello.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 2 at 11:00am at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Upper Delaware Valley Cancer Center, 113 Pocono Drive, Milford, PA 18337 or to the family would be appreciated.

Frank C. Scuderi
Frank C. Scuderi of Forestburgh passed away on Monday, March 19, 2007.
He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy; the loving father of Anne Gordon, Vincent, Donna Indovino, Diane Stefanuk, Frank Jr. and William Scuderi. He was the dear brother of Carl Scuderi and Marian Hertler, and cherished grandfather of nine.
Friends may call Friday, March 23 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Homes Levittown Chapel, 2786 Hempstead Tpke. (2 blocks East of the Wantagh Pkwy.)
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, March 24 at 9:45 a.m. at St. Bernard R.C. Church.

Frederick Ebbecke

Frederick Bernard Ebbecke of Pasadena, Texas and formerly of Warwick, died March 20, 2007 in Texas. He was 72.
The son of Bernard William and Alma Kubick Ebbecke, he was born October 12, 1934 in New York City.
An Army veteran of the Korean War, he was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received and the Combat Infantryman's Badge.
While in Warwick, he was a Charter Member, Pasts President and Vice President of the Warwick Valley Civic and Social Club, Town of Warwick Police officer, Orange County, Deputy Sheriff and a Deputy Sheriff in Bernalillo County, N.M. He was a Property Management Consultant for 25 years in Philadelphia, Pa.
He is survived by nine children, Frederick and his wife, Michelle of Pasadena, Texas, Janet Burigo and her husband, Joseph of Westbrookville, Richard and his wife, Debra of Middletown, William and his wife, Christine of Westbrookville, Alice Patterson and her husband, Scott of Westbrookville, Cynthia Green of Bryan, Texas, Luis of Bryan, Texas, John and his wife, Suzanna of Morgan City, La., Michael and his wife, Beth of Oneonta; 25 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; and numerous friends all over the country. He was predeceased by a daughter, Donna Lee Ebbecke.
Visitation will be on Sunday, March 25, from 2-4 p.m. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 26, at St. Stephens R.C. Church, Warwick. Interment will follow in St. Stephens Cemetery.

Iwanna Nychka
Homemaker, 93
Iwanna Nychka of Astoria and a former resident of Glen Spey, died Thursday, March 15, 2007 at the New York Center For Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Astoria. She was 93.
She was born September 11, 1913 in Ukraine, the daughter of the late Ilyas and Stasyshyn Skoczylas Hornecka.
She was the widow of the late Alexander Nychka who died Sept. 8, 1993. She was a member of St. Volodymyr’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Glen Spey.
Nychka is survived by a son, Dr. Bohdan Nychka of Astoria; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren; also nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Christina Bohoslawec.
Friends may call from 1-3 p.m. on Friday, March 23 at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, 100 East Main St., Port Jervis. The Panachyda service will be at 2 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 24 with a Liturgy Mass at St. Volodymyr's Ukrainian Catholic Church with the Rev. Yaroslav Kostyk officiating.
Burial will be made in Glen Spey Cemetery, Glen Spey.
Delia Zukas
Long-time area resident, 89
Delia Zukas of Barryville, a housewife and a longtime resident of the area, passed away on Monday, September 3, 2007 at home. She was 89.
The daughter of the late John and Delia Harold Friest, she was born June 21, 1918 in the Bronx. She was married 30 years to the late Algie Zukas, Sr., who passed away in 1986.
She was member of St. Anthony R.C. Church of Padua, Yulan.
A family statement reads: "Delia was a devoted family member and a friend to all. She will greatly be missed by all that knew her."
She is survived by her brother, Walter Friest of Cherry Valley, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Algie Zukas, Jr., and her 11 brothers and sisters.
Friends were invited to call on Wednesday, September 5, at the Gray-Rasmussen Funeral Home in Barryville.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, September 6, at St. Anthony R.C. Church of Padua, Yulan, with the Rev. Anthony Moore OFM officiating. Cremation followed at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel, Pa. Burial of the cremains will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Eldred, at the convenience of the family.
Donations may be made to an animal shelter of one's choice.

Anna Boychuk
Native of Ukraine, 81
Anna Boychuk of Hurleyville, formerly of New York City, passed away on August 30, 2007 peacefully at home. She was 81.
She was born in the Ukraine on August 29, 1926.
A parishioner of St. George’s Ukrainian Church in New York City, she most recently attended Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Kerhonkson. She was a widow of Myron “Mike” Boychuck.
Survivors include two daughters, Maria Cassiack and husband, Adam, and Oksana Boychuk, both of Hurleyville; three grandchildren: Theresa Cassiack of Schenectady, Katherine Cassiack of Smallwood, and Christopher Cassiack of Liberty.
Visitation was held on September 2, at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne. Panakhyda began Sunday, September 2.
The Holy Sacrifice of the Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Monday, September 3, at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, Kerhonkson. Interment followed at the Hurleyville Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Colonial Memorial Funeral Home.
Bruno Cassol
Former Marine, 92
Bruno Cassol, a resident of Narrowsburg since 1953, died Monday, August 27, 2007 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, Pa. He was 92.
The son of the late Louis and Maria Cassol, he was born in McKeesport, Pa., on February 13, 1915. He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Judy, in 2005.
He was a proud Marine veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theatre the entire length of the war in places like Guadalcanal, Bougainville, and other major battle sites.
He received many medals and commendations and attained the rank of Master Sergeant.
A retired mechanic with Sullivan Highway Products in Fosterdale, he also owned his own repair shop for many years. He was a member of The Marine Corps League.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing his entire life and made numerous trips to Newfoundland, moose hunting. On his last trip, Bruno was 81 years old.
A family statement reads, “His two greatest loves in life were his family and the Marine Corps. He was very proud of his service as a Marine and to his country. He was a kind and generous man to all. We love him very much and will miss him greatly. He will always live in our hearts.”
He is survived by his son, Robert Cassol of Floyd, Va.; his two daughters, Carol Thomas and her husband, Pete, of Fort Valley, Va. and Janice O'Neill and her husband, Michael, of Lititz, Pa.; two brothers, Clyde of Carteret, N.J. and Gwedo of Clearwater, Fla.; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at the convenience of the family. Cremation will be at the Lake Region Crematory Lake Ariel, Pa.
Rose M. Johnston
Retired Research Assistant, 82
Rose M. Johnston, of Wurtsboro, a 25-year resident and a retired research assistant for Equitable Life Assurance Society of the United States, N.Y.C., died September 1, 2007 in Orange Regional Medical Center, Horton Campus. She was 82.
The daughter of Carmine and Rosina Malanga Gonnella, she was born August 3, 1925 in Manhattan.
She was the widow of Mancel Johnston.
Survivors include her son, Kenneth Johnston and wife Laura of the Bronx; two sisters, Geraldine Kleinschmidt and husband Bernard of Yorktown Heights, Florence G. Paterson of Nutley, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends were able to call at Loucks Funeral Home Inc., 79 N. Main St., Ellenville on Tuesday, September 4.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Graveside services were held on Wednesday, Sept. 5 at the Fantinekill Cemetery, Ellenville.
