Thomas Popoli of Liberty, an assembler at the sheltered workshop at Sullivan County ARC and a long time area resident, died Saturday, July 29, 2000, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris. He was 49 years of age.
The son of the late Albert S. and Lillian A. Patterson Popoli, he was born December 30, 1950, in the Bronx.
Mr. Popoli was a former participant in the Special Olympics and won dozens of medals over the many years.
He is survived by his step-parents, Michael and Sally Popoli Esolen, at home; three step-brothers, Kenneth Esolen of Hancock, Lance Schneider of Glen Spey and Karl Esolen of Liberty; two step-sisters, Kerry Ann Holt of Zephyrhills, Fla., and Karen Esolen-Baldwin of Starlight, Pa.; and ten nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Harris Funeral Home, West Street at Buckley, Liberty, with Mr. David Kiely officiating.
Burial will be made in the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty.

Peter C. Kutschera II

Peter C. Kutschera II of Colonie died Thursday, July 27, 2000, at the Albany Memorial Hospital in Albany. He was 26 years of age.
The son of Peter C. Kutschera and the late Denise Danko Kutschera, he was born in Goshen.
Mr. Kutschera was raised in Johnson and moved to Colonie in 1986. He graduated from South Colonie High School and Hudson Valley Community College in Troy. He currently was attending SUNY at Albany studying journalism.
He was a communicant of St. Francis deSales Church in Loudonville and enjoyed baseball, tennis and was an avid reader. He was a former member of the New York Army National Guard
Mr. Kutschera is survived by his father of Colonie; two brothers, Philip Michael Kutschera of West Albany and Kenneth Roy Kutschera of Cebu, Philippines; his maternal grandmother, Marie Danko of Jersey City, N.J.; his paternal grandmother, Helen Kutschera of Jeffersonville; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Monday at St. Francis deSales Church in Loudonville with the Rev. Anthony Barratt officiating.
Interment was private.

Kaete Heerdegen
Ret. Restaurateur, 87
Kaete Heerdegen of Narrowsburg, a retired owner of Schafer Restaurant in Manhattan and a 28-year area resident, died Sunday, July 30, 2000, at the Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, Pa. She was 87 years of age.
The widow of Willi Heerdegen, she was born November 30, 1912, in Brunsbuttelkoog, Germany.
Services will be held at the Rasmussen Sons Funeral Home in Narrowsburg on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Phyllis Haynes officiating.
Interment will be made in St. Francis Cemetery in Narrowsburg.

Joseph Coopersmith
Ret. Electrician, 75
Joseph Coopersmith of West Palm Beach, Fla., a retired union electrician and a longtime area resident, died Thursday, July 27, 2000, in West Palm Beach. He was 75 years of age.
The son of Herman and Anna Davis Coopersmith, he was born October 31, 1924, in New York City.
Mr. Coopersmith was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of the South Fallsburg Hebrew Association, and a past chief of the Fallsburg Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Anita Youngfrau Coopersmith, at home; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Arthur and Michelle Coopersmith of South Fallsburg, Hal Coopersmith of Liberty and Bart and Diane Coopersmith of New City; a daughter, Mira Anderson of South Fallsburg; and five grandchildren, Scott, Brooke, Brian, Corey and Alana; and a great-grandchild, Arianna.
Services were held Sunday at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home in Monticello with Rabbi Isaac Gottlieb officiating.
Interment was made in the South Fallsburg Hebrew Association Cemetery in Glen Wild.

Goldie Davis, 89
Ret. Poultry Processor
Goldie Davis of Long Eddy, a retired processor at Manor Poultry in Livingston Manor, died Tuesday, August 1, 2000, at the Grover M. Hermann Division of Community General Hospital in Callicoon. She was 89 years of age.
The daughter of the late William and Sarah Davis, she was born February 17, 1911, in Livingston Manor. She was the widow of Henry Zeininger and Ralph Van Pelt.
She is survived by four sons, Donald Zeininger of Swan Lake, Richard Zeininger of Bradenton, Fla., Ralph Van Pelt of Neversink and Bruce Van Pelt of Woodbourne; three daughters, Rosella Zeininger of Long Eddy, Rose Wilson of Sidney and Carol Payles of Hasbrouck; two sisters, Madeline Hinkley of White Sulphur Springs and Isabel Forker of Port Jervis; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
There were no calling hours.
Cremation was made at the Twin Tiers Crematory in Endicott.
Arrangements were made by the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Callicoon.
Libby Sawransky
Homemaker, 73
Libby Sawransky of Bloomingburg, a homemaker and a longtime area resident, died Tuesday, August 1, 2000, at the Horton Medical Center in Middletown. She was 73 years of age.
The daughter of the late Andrew and Esther Loeb, she was born June 17, 1927, in the Bronx.
Mrs. Sawransky was a member of the Mamakating Senior Citizens.
She is survived by her husband, Max Sawransky, at home; three sons, Richard Sawransky of Berkeley, Calif., Gary Sawransky of Carbondale, Pa., and David Sawransky of Rock Hill; two sisters, Shirley Korn of New York City and Leah Fisher of Massachusetts; three grandchildren, Melissa, Joshua and Dena; and a great-grandchild, Bryanna.
Graveside services and burial were held Thursday in the Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery in Bloomingburg.

Helen E. Walters of Port Jervis, a retired school teacher in Sullivan County schools and Port Jervis and a lifelong area resident, died Tuesday, August 1, 2000, at Mercy Manor in Port Jervis. She was 92 years of age.
The daughter of the late Edward and Amanda Engert McGuire, she was born May 4, 1908, in Hankins.
Mrs. Walters was a member of Deerpark Reformed Church and the League for Service of the church; River Valley Chapter No. 33, Order of the Eastern Star; a past District Deputy Grand Matron of the Orange-Rockland District, OES; past Matron of N. Taft Chapter #446, Order of the Eastern Star; a member of Laurel Court #58, Order of the Amaranth, all in Port Jervis, and secretary-treasurer of the New York State Retired Teacher's Association.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Douglas Walters of Rio and Jerry and Barbara Walters of Port Jervis; four sisters, Bertha Milk and Florence Bauer, both of Callicoon, Agnes Spielmann of Youngsville and Dorothy Gottschalk of Hankins; three grandchildren, Teri, Jamie and Mandi Walters; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 Friday in the Deerpark Reformed Church in Port Jervis with the Rev. James Beukelman officiating.
Burial will be made in Holy Cross Cemetery in Callicoon.

Stanley F. Kocijanski, 79
Stanley F. Kocijanski of Harpursville died Monday, July 31, 2000, at the Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City. He was 79 years of age.
He is survived by four children and their spouses/companions, Arthur and Diane Kocijanski of Afton, Barry Kocijanski of Lake Hill, Laurie Kocijanski and Michael Pruitt of Harpursville and Scott Kocijanski and his wife, Cathy, of Saugerties; two sisters, Helen Elia of Middletown and Wanda Cypert of Oliverea; a brother, Thaddeus Kocijanski of Woodbourne; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his former wife, Virginia Kocijanski; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Thursday at the Osterhoudt-Leopold Funeral Home in Harpursville.
Burial was made in Paige Cemetery in Downsville.
William V. Aughavin

William V. Aughavin of Monticello, a retired employee of Con Edison and a former resident of Woodside, Queens, died Monday, July 31, 2000, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris.
A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving from 1944 to 1946, he was a member of BPOE Lodge 1544 in Monticello and a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus member of George W. Hudson Council 3701 in Woodside.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Bunce Aughavin; three children, William Aughavin, Ann Marie Murphy and Margaret Mary Nichols; five grandchildren, John and Kevin Aughavin, Meagan Kathleen Murphy and Patricia Ann and Brendan Nichols; a sister, Josephine Hass; and a brother, Francis Aughavin. He was predeceased by a son, Timohy John, two sisters, Mae and Margie, and a brother, John.
Friends may call at the Edward D. Lynch Funeral Home, 43-07 Queens Blvd., Sunnyside, on Friday from 2-5 and 7-9:30 on Friday.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Teresa R.C. Church in Woodside.
