Vincent P. Toomey, a longtime Forestburgh resident, died Monday, October 16, 2000, after a long illness, in Saratoga County. He was 61 years of age.
The son of the late Vincent W. and Beulah Yonker Toomey, he was born March 2, 1939, in Forestburgh.
Mr. Toomey attended local schools and served in the United States Army where he was a select member of the U.S. Army European Cross-Country Team.
He is survived by his children, Timothy Toomey, Ann T. Carlone and Mary Ellen Toomey and their mother, Sabina Mazzeo Toomey; four grandsons, Timothy, Michael and Patrick Toomey and Joseph Carlone; a brother, Daniel L. Toomey; two sisters, Joan T. Grund and Sarah C. Katzman; an aunt, Margaret T. Smith; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph M. Toomey.
A Memorial Mass will be offered on Sunday, November 12, at 8:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Forestburgh.
Entombment was made at Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
Robert L. Laskowitz
Cafe Owner/Mgr., 65
Robert L. Laskowitz, a 16-year resident of Long Cove, Hilton Head Island, S.C. and the owner/manager of San Miguels Mexican Cafe, died Sunday, October 22, 2000, at his home. He was 65 years of age.
He was born in New York City and graduated from Fallsburg Central High School in 1952 where he received all-state honors in basketball, football and soccer. He was a junior college and small college basketball All-American at Kilgore Junior College and Mid-America University. He went on to attend the University of Michigan as a two-sport athlete.
He served with the Eighth Infantry Division Corps of Engineers in Europe from 1957 to 1959 and played in the 1959 Military Basketball Championships where he received an award from the Counseil International Du Sport Militaire.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Angela Lyons Laskowitz; two sons, Mitchell Laskowitz of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Scott Laskowitz of Hilton Head Island, S.C.; three grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; a brother, Rory Laskowitz of Midlothian, Va.; and a sister, Marla Kandel of Middletown.
Services were held Tuesday at the Island Funeral Home in Hilton Head Island, S. C., with Rabbi Theodore Levi officiating.

Rockwell K. Hill
Ret. Corr. Officer, 86
Rockwell "Rock" Kenneth Hill of White Sulphur Springs, a spirited gentleman whose interest in hunting, fishing and golf far belied his advanced years, and a well-esteemed and lifelong area resident, died Thursday, October 26, 2000, at his home. He was 86 years of age.
The son of the late Eben Rockwell Jr. and Amy Sutherland Hill, he was born June 13, 1914, in White Sulphur Springs. He was the widower of Ruth Bilger Hill who died October 24, 1996.
Mr. Hill was a retired 36-year New York State Corrections Officer at the Woodbourne Correctional Facility until he retired in October 1976.
An active member of his home community, he was a member of the White Sulphur Springs Senior Citizens; a life member of the White Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church; a founding member of the White Sulphur Springs Fire Department; a member of Liberty Elks Lodge #1545 and a member of the Black Bear Hunting Club. In his earlier years, he was also part owner of the Lincoln Motel in Liberty and the Hancock Liquor Store in Hancock.
He is survived by two sons, Glenn "Rocky" Hill and his wife, Renee, of Merion, Pa., and Donald Hill of Miami, Fla.; a daughter, Joan Hill of Gainesville, Fla.; a sister, Betty Lindsley of White Sulphur Springs; three grandchildren, Alison Umpleby and her husband, George, Eben Rockwell Hill and Shara Rose Hill; and two great-grandchildren, Kari Ann and Jacob Umpleby.
Services were held Sunday at the White Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church with the Rev. DuBois Smith officiating.
Burial was made in the Laurel Hill Cemetery in White Sulphur Springs.

Burton R. Lindsley of White Sulphur Springs, a retired New York State Conservation Officer and a lifelong area resident, died Friday, October 27, 2000, at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown. He was 82 years of age.
The son of the late Ralph and Elizabeth Hogencamp Lindsley, he was born February 28, 1918, in White Sulphur Springs.
In a family statement, it was said, "He was a devoted, dedicated and loving husband who was a big man with a big heart. He loved his community and the community loved him."
A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of the Russell Sprague American Legion Post #109 in Liberty; a member of the White Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church and a member and longtime secretary of the White Sulphur Springs Fire Department. Mr. Lindsley was also a member of the Liberty Elks Lodge #1545 in Liberty, a member of the New York State Conservation Officers Association in Albany, a founding member and member of the Board of Directors of the Laurel Hill Cemetery Association in White Sulphur Springs, and a member of the NRA.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Hill Lindsley, at home; a daughter, Roberta and John Allotta of Riverside, Calif.; a son and daughter-in-law, Deming and Nancy Lindsley of Stamford, N.Y.; a sister, Arlene Bradley of White Sulphur Springs; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Grayton Lindsley.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the White Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church, Route 52, White Sulphur Springs, with the Rev. DuBois Smith and the Rev. Bridgette LeConey officiating.
Burial will be made in the Laurel Hill Cemetery in White Sulphur Springs.

Arvilla M. Knapp, an eight-year resident of Budd Lake, N.J., formerly of Monticello, died Thursday, October 26, 2000, at the home of her daughter in Budd Lake. She was 88 years of age.
The daughter of the late Walter and Mary Davis Warren, she was born April 1, 1912, in Roxbury, N.Y. She was the widow of Fred Knapp Sr. who died in 1979.
A former employee of Howard Johnson's and the Spring Valley Laundry, both in Spring Valley, she had also been employed at the Manor Poultry Company in Livingston Manor.
She is survived by two sons, Thurston Knapp of Monticello and Vincent Knapp of Forestburgh; three daughters, Virginia Montag of Liberty, Donna Knapp of Budd Lake, N.J., and Carolyn Hinkledire of Liberty; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four sons, Walter, Fred Jr., Richard and Ronald Knapp, and a daughter, Evelyn Knapp.
Services were held Monday at the Harris Funeral Home in Liberty with the Rev. Carl Stiglich officiating.
Burial was made in the Horton Cemetery in Horton.

Anna Geba of Glen Spey, a longtime area resident, died Thursday, October 26, 2000, at home. She was 96 years of age.
The daughter of the late Ivan and Pilahia Husak Hladun, she was born July 10, 1904, in Cherche, Ukraine. She was the widow of Gregory Geba who died April 23, 1991, after 71 years of marriage.
Mrs. Geba was a member of St. Volodymyr's Ukrainian Church in Glen Spey and the Ukrainian Women's League in Ukraine.
In a family statement, it was said, "She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother."
She is survived by a son, John Geba of Glen Spey; a daughter-in-law, Maria Geba of Staten Island; six grandchildren, Alexandra DiToro, Gregory P. Geba, Donna Geba Hrabarchuk, Katherine Landgraf, Linda LiGreci and Bohdan N. Geba; and seven great-grandchildren, Richard DiToro, Lauren Geba, Adriana LiGreci, Maria C. Geba, Sonia Geba, Eugene I. Hrabarchuk and John A. Geba. She was predeceased by a son, Bohdan Geba, two daughters, Daria Geba and Lydia Geba, and a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth C. Geba.
Services were held Saturday at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home in Port Jervis followed by a Liturgy Mass at St. Volodymyr's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Glen Spey with the Rev. Marko Hirniak officiating.
Burial was made in the Glen Spey Cemetery in Glen Spey.

Perry M. Fisher Jr. of Monroe, a retired shipping and receiving clerk for Nepera Inc. and an employee of A&B Sunoco Service Station, both in Harriman, and a lifetime area resident, died Tuesday, October 24, 2000, at the Arden Hill Hospital in Goshen. He was 71 years of age.
The son of the late Perry M. Sr. and Mary E. Greene Fisher, he was born January 10, 1929, in Port Jervis.
He is survived by two daughters, Darlene Nangle and her husband, Jim, of Port Jervis, and Robin Fisher of Modena; four sons, Perry Fisher III and his wife, Kris, of Millville, N.J., Donald Fisher of San Angelo, Tex., Robert Fisher of Woodbourne and Jesse Fisher of Crystal River, Fla.; two brothers, Harry Fisher of Woodbine, N.J., and Ike Fisher of Annapolis, Md.; a sister, Charlotte Fisher of Long Island; his lifelong companion, Marion Johns of Monroe and her children, Robert Johns, Morgan Johns and Glyniss Johns, all of Monroe, Grizz Johns of Burlingham and Dennis Johns of Pine Bush; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Gene McBride, Joe McBride, Fred McBride and Bill McBride, and a sister, Ida Fisher.

She is survived by her parents and a sister, Regina Burrous, all of Mountaindale; a brother, Herman Paul Burrous of New York City; and a daughter, Rosalinda Marie Bruno of the Bronx.

George L. Baker of Abilene, Tex., a retired minister and contractor, died Saturday, October 28, 2000, at the Abilene Convalescent Center after a long illness. He was 71 years of age.
The son of the late Addison N. and Olive Baker Hubbard, he was born April 23, 1929, in Middletown.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was a member of the S. 11th and Willis Church of Christ.
Mr. Baker is survived by his wife, Grace E. Baker of Abilene, Tex.; two sons, John A. Baker of Abilene, Tex., and Kenneth R. Baker of Bloomingburg; four daughters, Nancy E. Pair of Hawley, Tex., Lucille A. McDonald of Cathedral City, Calif., Sandra L. Miller of Taneytown, Md., and Patricia M. Manuel of Key Largo, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris M. Cieslewitz; and many nieces and nephews.
