Retired Custodian, 85
Lillian Sniffen of Bloomingburg, formerly of Middletown and a lifelong resident of the area, died peacefully at home with her devoted, loving and caring family by her side as she walked her last journey home into God’s hands.
The daughter of George and Ida Mae Conklin Baker, she was born September 15, 1921 in Goshen. She was the widow of Russell P. Sniffen, who died April 30, 1985.
She was a retired custodian for Middletown School District.
She is survived by a daughter, Gloria Zukrigl and her husband, Herbert of Bloomingburg; a sister, Ruth Baker of Circleville; four sons, Russell Sniffen, Raymond Sniffen, Wayne Sniffen, and Larry Sniffen and their families; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation.
Cremation was made at H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg, Pa.
Burial of the cremains will be made in the spring at Rural Valley Cemetery, Cuddebackville

Owen Harrison,

Owen Peter Harrison of Narrowsburg passed away in his sleep on Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at home. He was 17 months old.
The son of Patrick and Peggy Kelly Harrison, he was born August 30, 2005 in Goshen.
He was the most loving child, his smile would light up the room, he would give the best hugs and kisses, our hearts are broken...
He is survived by his parents, Patrick and Peggy Kelly Harrison; his brother, Patrick J. Harrison Jr.; his sister, Molly Harrison; paternal grandparents, Eugene and Joan Harrison of Archbald, Pa.; five paternal uncles, Timothy Harrison of Naples, Fla., Kevin Harrison of Archbald, Pa., Brian Harrison of Clarks Summit, Pa., Michael Harrison of Forty Fort, Pa. and John Harrison of Archbald, Pa.; his two maternal aunts, Kathy West and Nellie Burns of Blue Bell, Pa; his paternal great uncle, Robert O’Hara of Michigan; his maternal great uncle, Alfred Kelly of Arizona; maternal great aunts, Patricia Reedy of Texas and Gertrude Smith of Matamoras, Pa.; and many cousins.
He is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Peter and Helen Stead Kelly Jr.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 2, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 90 Main St., Narrowsburg, NY 12764.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 3 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, Narrowsburg. The Rev. William Scully, O.F.M., will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow, Pa.

Homemaker, 80
Elizabeth Coyle Moriarty of The Cloister, died Saturday, January 27, 2007 in Myrtle Beach. She was 80.
Born November 13, 1926 in New York City, she was a daughter of the late Patrick J. and Elizabeth (McKiernan) Coyle. She was predeceased by her husband, Patrick Moriarty in 2000, a sister, Helen Mook and her husband, Donald J. Mook, Sr., both of Geneva.
She had lived in Myrtle Beach since 1995, coming from New York. She was a longtime summer resident of North Branch. She was a communicant of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and most recently St. Andrew Catholic Church in Myrtle Beach.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Fragaszy and husband, Bill of Lilburn, Ga.; a sister, Violet Barrett and husband, Henry T. of Whittier, Calif.; two sisters-in-law, Therese Condon of Buford, Ga. and Cathleen (Kay) O’Brien of Carmel; many loving and devoted nieces and great-nieces, nephews and great-nephews, cousins, godchildren and many cherished friends. She was an honorary grandmother to the Curran family and the Lundy family.
Visitation will be at McMillan- Small Funeral Home, Myrtle Beach on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, February 3 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in North Myrtle Beach.
Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium.

Ret. Teacher, 81
Marion E. Robinson of Grahamsville died in Las Vegas, Nevada on Friday, January 26, 2007 at her daughter's home. She was 81.
The daugher of Dallas and Leona Wilson Swart, she was born March 30, 1925 in Saratoga Springs.
She was the widow of Arnold H. Robinson. She was a graduate of Saratoga Springs High School and Plattsburgh State Teachers College. She was a retired School Nurse Teacher who taught for over thirty years at Tri-Valley Central School in Grahamsville. She was a member of the Grahamsville Fire Department La-dies Auxiliary, the Grahamsville Reformed Church Ladies Aide, the Tri-Valley Lions Club, Revonah Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, and New York State Retired Teachers, a member of the Grahamsville Reformed Church and an associate member Desert Spring United Methodist Church in Las Vegas.
She is survived by two daughers, Lynn Robinson and Cheryl Robinson, both of Las Vegas; one sister, Kathryn Gilroy of Albany; and one brother, Fred Swart of Ruskin, Fla.
She was predeceased by one sister.
A memorial service will be held at the Grahamsville Reformed Church on March 31, 2007 and burial will be in the Grahamsville Rural Cemetery.
Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Grahamsville Reformed Church.
James J. Clifford
Air Conditioner Mechanic, 56
James J. Clifford, a longtime resident of the area, died Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis. He was 56.
The son of the late James and Jean Haymen Clifford, he was born June 24, 1950 in Brooklyn.
James was an Air Conditioner Mechanic for Penguin Air Conditioning in Brooklyn. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during Vietnam, and he was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Brooklyn. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed playing cards.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret “Peggy” Hickey Clifford, at home; one sister, Alice Ogno of Brooklyn; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister, Jean Marie Bradford.
Friends may call at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Inc., 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis on Friday, February 2, from 2-4 and 7-8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 3 at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s R.C. Church in Port Jervis, with the Rev. Dennis M. Dinan officiating.
Burial will be in Glen Spey Cemetery, Glen Spey.

Ret. Clerk, 82
Virginia A. Dumrose, a retired clerk of Livingston Manor and a lifetime resident, died Monday, January 29, 2007 in the Roscoe Community Nursing Home. She was 82.
Virginia was the daughter of Thomas and Josephine Tyler Yesberger. She was born February 13, 1924 in Livingston Manor.
She was a member of the VFW Post #6081, the past President for the Ladies Auxiliary VFW #6081 and a member of Ladies Auxiliary #9217 in Liberty. She was also a member of Livingston Manor Presbyterian Church.
She was the widow of John E. Dumrose.
Survivors include, three sons, David Allen and his wife, Patricia of Piedmont, S.D., Thomas Allen and his wife, Irene of Livingston Manor and Bruce Allen and his wife, Jacqulyn of Newburgh; one sister, Gloria Westcott of Harris; and four grandchildren.
A Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2007 at the Livingston Manor Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one’s own choice.

Donald J. Karkos
Businessman, 82
Donald J. Karkos, “Don” to all who knew and loved him, died on Monday, January 29, 2007 at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. He was 82.
A retired employee for the Avon Company in Suffern, Don also worked at the Rockland County Community College, as well as the Monticello Raceway.
A devoted family man, Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He was born in Lisbon Falls, Maine on December 12, 1924, the son of the late John and Anna Ivancho Karkos.
Don was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and the Merchant Marines, serving in World War II on the S.S. Park Benjamin in Europe. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #2973 of Suffern, the U.S. Trotting Assn., and the Monticello Harness Horsemen’s Assn.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 18 years, April Adams Karkos, at home; five sons, Dan Karkos and his wife, Karen of Fredricksburg, Va., Matt Karkos and his wife, Lorie of Cochecton, John Karkos and his wife, Dana of Middletown, Nick Karkos of Parksville, and Michael Gilmour of Vernon; three daughters, Deborah Karkos of Centreville, Va., Jean “Taffy” Hazlewood and her husband, Don of Madison, Ala., and Janet Messenger and her husband, “Nee” of Monticello; thirteen grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
As per Don’s wishes, funeral services are to be held privately, and at the convenience of the family.

Harold K. Westfall
Ret. Plumber 81
Harold K. Westfall, Sr., late of Glen Spey, a retired plumber for The Plumbers and Steam Fitters Union Local #373 in Mountainville, and life-long resident of the area, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at his home. He was 81.
The son of the late John and Marjorie Moulton Westfall, he was born in Port Jervis on April 8, 1925.
He married Alice Sjoquist on March 8, 1946.
Harold was a veteran with the U.S. Navy serving during World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the Tri-State Naval Ship, #7241, Port Jervis; member of the Pole Bridge Hunting Camp; the American Legion, Milford, Pa., and a 50-year life member of Maghogomock Hook and Ladder, Port Jervis.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Sjoquist Westfall at home; two daughters, Kathleen “Dolly” Schmitt and her husband, Robert of Yulan, and Susan Smith and her husband, Warner of Elizabethtown, Pa.; two sons, Harold “Bumpy” Westfall and his wife, Christine of Glen Spey, and Patrick Westfall and his wife, Susan of Eldred; his brother, Donald Westfall of Port Jervis; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; several cousins, several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister, Emily Martin and his brother, William Westfall.
Memorial Services will be held Friday, February 2, at 11 a.m. in the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis with the Rev. Betsy Diver officiating.
Interment will be private.
