Ret. Volunteer, 78
Helen Novogrodsky Navor of Hopewell Junction, a volunteer at the Lunch Box in Poughkeepsie for many years, died Saturday, January 6, 2001, at Vassar Hospital in Poughkeepsie. She was 78 years of age.
The daughter of the late Michael and Catherine Novogrodsky, she was born April 27, 1922, in Neversink. She was the widow of Emil A. Navor who died October 22, 1998.
Mrs. Navor was a graduate of Woodridge High School and received an AAS Degree in Child Care from Dutchess Community College. She was retired from the Poughkeepsie Children's Home. While at the Lunch Box, she made soup and sandwiches for the homeless. She regularly attended a senior citizen exercise class at the Hopewell Junction Community Center.
A member of St. Columba R.C. Church, she had resided in Hopewell Junction most of her life.
She is survived by a son, Michael Navor of Hopewell Junction; a daughter and son-in-law, Rev. Nike Navor and her husband, Joseph D. Chillemi of Brooklyn; a dear family friend, Lee Tam of New York City; two sisters, Anne Baldi of the state of Florida and Frances Novogrodsky of Jeffersonville; a brother, Joseph Novogrodsky of Woodridge; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by five sisters and three brothers.
Friends may call at the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 Main St., Woodbourne, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Woodbourne.
Burial will be made in the Hillside Cemetery in Woodbourne.

Lorraine Kretzmer
Ret. Waitress, 54
Lorraine Kretzmer of Livingston Manor, a retired waitress and a 12-year area resident, died Sunday, January 7, 2001 at her home. She was 54 years of age.
The daughter of William Metje and the late Joyce Gadsen Metje, she was born January 10, 1946, at New Castle on the Tyne, England.
Mrs. Kretzmer organized Knitting For Children, a worldwide organization on the Internet with over six hundred members who work entirely for charity.
She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Kretzmer, at home; two sons, William Kretzmer at home and Darren Kretzmer of Carlstadt, N.J.; two daughters, Barbara Kretzmer of Liberty and Cassandra Kretzmer of Union, N.J.; her father of Kingston; two brothers, Geoffrey Metje of Wurtsboro and Craig Metje of Montana; a sister, Deborah Metje of Massachusetts; a granddaughter, Kaitlin Kretzmer; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation.
Private cremation was made at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.

Sheldon Cutler
Assemly Line Wkr., 61
Sheldon Cutler, a resident at the New Hope Community in Loch Sheldrake, a former Monticello resident and an assembly line worker at the Monticello ARC plant, died Sunday, December 31, 2000, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris. He was 61 years of age.
The son of Doris Cohen Cutler and the late Paul Cutler, he was born November 26, 1939, in Brooklyn.
In a family statement, it was said, "Sheldon will be remembered for his great and playful sense of humor and his genuinely warm and friendly personality."
He is survived by his mother of Monticello; a sister, Rhoda Tlumak and her family; and his New Hope Community family.
Graveside services and burial were held last Tuesday at the Wellwood Cemetery in Pinelawn with Rabbi Lester Polonsky officiating.
Funeral arrangments were made by the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home in Monticello.
Louise S. Mackerodt
Ret. Clerk, 101
Louise S. Mackerodt, a resident at the Pleasant View Retirement Community in Manheim, Pa., died there on Thursday, January 4, 2000. She was 101 years of age.
The daughter of the late Henry and Anna Weiss Speilmann, she was born July 25, 1899, in Youngsville. She was the widow of Albert Mackerodt who died June 29, 1969.
A member of the Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) Moravian Church, Mrs. Mackerodt loved to cook and sent big boxes of cookies to her children and grandchildren at Christmas time. She also did ceramics in her later years. She was a sales clerk at the Abraham & Strauss Department Store in Brooklyn, retiring in 1971 after over 25 years of service and moving to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla..
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Doris M. and Alfred F. Johnson of Lititz, Pa., and Janet M. and Richard A. Koehler of Sun Lakes, Ariz; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Fred Spielmann of Long Beach, Calif. Predeceased by several siblings, her sister Emma Curtis just passed away two weeks ago.
Friends may call at the Richard H. Heisey Funeral Home, 216 S. Broad St., Lititz, Pa., from 2 to 3 p.m. on Friday, January 12. Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday.
Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Green Hills Cemetery in Youngsville with the Rev. Robert McLeod officiating.
Lillian Bogan
Homemaker, 87
Lillian "Pat" Bogan of Woodbourne, a homemaker and a lifelong area resident, died Wednesday, January 3, 2001, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris. She was 87 years of age.
The daughter of the late William and Lena Ballard Hendrickson, she was born August 25, 1913, in Mongaup Valley. She was the widow of Henry Bogan.
In a family statement, it was said, "She was a wonderful and devoted mother and friend."
She is survived by a daughter, Mona Bogan of Woodbourne; many nieces and nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Gertrude Brunner, and a brother, William Hendrickson.
Friends may call at the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, Main Street, Woodbourne, on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Woodbourne with Fr. Lynch officiating.
Interment will be made in the Hillside Cemetery in Woodbourne.
Gladys E. Fisher
Homemaker, 93
Gladys Ehrle Fisher, a former resident of Honesdale, Pa., and Cochecton, died Tuesday, January 9, 2001, at the Wayne Woodlands Manor in Waymart, Pa., where she had been a resident the past three years. She was 93 years of age.
The daughter of the late Albert and Barbara Germer Ehrle, she was born June 7, 1907, in Astoria, New York City. She was the widow of Charles Fisher who died February 23, 1972.
Mrs. Fisher was a loving and caring mother who received much joy from her grandchildren. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Honesdale, Pa.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Patricia Fisher of Deerfield, N.H.; a daughter, Virginia "Ginny" Villaume of Honesdale, Pa.; a sister, Ethel Weidner of Honesdale, Pa. 11 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Mildred Lubbe.
Friends may call at the Hessling Funeral Home, 428 Main St., Honesdale, Pa., on Friday from 7 to 8 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Kenneth L. Buckwalter, pastor of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating.
Burial will be made in the East Cochecton Cemetery.

Clifford Francis Daley
Retired Insurance Broker, 84
Clifford “Cliff” Francis Daley of Jeffersonville, died February 12, 2007 at home after a long illness. He was 84.
The son of George and Frances Dellamore Daley, he was born July 27, 1922 in Brooklyn.
He married his high school sweetheart and they just celebrated 60 years of marriage in November 2006.
Cliff was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. He served two and a half years in England as a technical sergeant. A retired insurance broker, he was a member of St. George's Church and choir in Jeffersonville; a member of the Delaware Valley Opera, the Delaware Valley Chorus, and the Thomas B. Carroll Council of Knights of Columbus in Valley Stream.
In a family statement, it was said, “Cliff was an avid reader and enjoyed the Sunday N.Y. Times crossword puzzle. He also loved to sing and garden. He was a kind, gentle man with a wonderful sense of humor. He was courageous and dignified in the face of a very long illness.”
Survivors include his wife, Marguerite “Marge” Laube Daley, at home; his children, Kathleen Daley of Jeffersonville and Peekskill, Robert Daley of Venice, Fla., Teresa Hoffman of Corinth, Stephen Daley of Narrowsburg, Betty Lawson of Honesdale, Pa., and James Daley of Ganesvoort; one sister, June Simmons of Southold, LI; eighteen grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 16 at St. George's Church in Jeffersonville with Father Ignatius Vu officiating.
Burial will be made in Calvary Cemetery, Youngsville.

Frederick W. Knise of Highland Beach, Fla., formerly of Callicoon, Harvard and Shinhopple, passed away on February 13, 2007.
He is survived by his wife, Ann; children, Dennis, Daniel, Pamela and David, and eight grandchildren.
