Gail A. Doolittle of Wurtsboro, a retired secretary for Ellenville Central School and a lifelong area resident, died August 4, 2000, at the Horton Medical Center in Middletown. She was 62 years of age.
The daughter of the late Peter and Ethel Penn Wiedrich, she was born December 14, 1937, in Elba. She was the widow of Franklin Doolittle.
Mrs. Doolittle was a member of the Mamakating United Methodist Church, the Summitville Fire Company Auxiliary and the Mamakating and Westbrookville Senior Citizens.
She is survived by three sons, Peter Doolittle of Ellenville, John Doolittle of Monticello and Franklin Doolittle of Wurtsboro; eight grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were held Monday at the Loucks Funeral Home in Ellenville with Pastor Randolph Yerkes officiating.
Burial was made in Poplar Grove Cemetery in Phlllipsport.

Henry H. Kessler
Ret. Supervisor, 77
Henry H. Kessler of Smallwood, a retired supervisor of trunk facilities for New York Telephone Company in New York City and a 35-year area resident, died Thursday, August 3, 2000, at his home in Smallwood. He was 77 years of age.
The son of the late William and Lucinda Jackens Kessler, he was born August 4, 1922, in Queens.
A veteran of World War II, he was a member of Sgt. Andrew Brucher Post No. 5499, Veterans of Foreign Wars, in White Lake.
Mr. Kessler is survived by his wife, Eleanore M. Griesbeck Kessler, at home; a daughter, Jean Allen of Hartford, Ala.; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Alison and Cathy Stahl, all living with their guardians, Joan and Richard Wrede of Hebron, Conn., Michael Allen of Hartford, Ala., and Christa Chupp of Smallwood; and a great-granddaughter, Dakota Allen of Hartford, Ala. He was predeceased by a daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Robert Stahl; and a grandson, Gary Chupp.
Services were held Monday at the Ramsay’s Funeral Home in Kauneonga Lake.
Burial was made in the Evergreen Cemetery in Bethel.
Louise E. Exton
Ret. Attendant, 98
Louise E. Exton of Liberty, a retired attendant at Orange & Rockland Psychiatric Center in Pearl River and a longtime area resident, died Friday, August 4, 2000, at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty. She was 98 years of age.
The daughter of the late Michael and Irma Uricek Williams, she was born June 17, 1902, in Budapest, Hungary. She was the widow of Wilbert J. Exton.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn and John Barton of Rock Hill; a grandson, Robert Barton of Monticello; a granddaughter, Jane Jones of Wurtsboro; and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial were made in the Rock Hill Cemetery in Rock Hill with the Rev. Robert Pinto officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Family Council of the Sullivan County Adult Care Center, Liberty, N.Y. 12754.

Hyman Perlman
Ret. Court Officer, 87
Hyman Perlman of Boca Raton, Fla., a retired court officer for Sullivan County courts in Monticello and a longtime Monticello resident, died Saturday, August 5, 2000, in Hospice by the Sea in Boca Raton. He was 87 years of age.
The son of the late Henry and Sarah Baunstein Perlman, he was born April 17, 1913, in New York City.
Mr. Perlman was a World War II veteran of the U. S. Army. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias; Jesse Brahms Post No. 209, Jewish War Veterans; the Monticello Lions Club; and was the former longtime owner and operator of the Westend Diner in Monticello.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Faye Shapiro Perlman, at home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Howard and Helene Perlman of Monticello and Lonny Perlman of Rochester; a daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Steven Krull of Fairport; two brothers, Israel Perlman of Orangeburg and Harry Perlman of West Springfield, Mass.; five grandchildren, Geoffrey, Kenneth and Sarah Krull, Heather Pollack and Rebecca Perlman; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Maxwell and Louis Perlman, and a sister, Rebecca Sachs.
Services were held Monday at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home in Monticello.
Burial was made in the Workmen Circle #610 Cemetery in Monticello.

Charles F. Kaiser Jr.
Ret. Attorney, 92
May 16, 2000 -- Charles F. Kaiser Jr. of Naples, Fla., died Wednesday, November 24, 1999. He was 92 years of age.
The son of the late Charles F. and M. Victoria Mueller Kaiser, he was born in Youngsville in 1907.
Mr. Kaiser graduated from Union University Albany Law School LLB and worked for over 50 years as an attorney. He retired as a member of the law firm of Kaiser, Murray and Collier Esqs. in Ellenville.
He was a member of the New York State, American and Ulster County Bar Associations. During his career, Mr. Kaiser was on the Committees of Grievances and Professional Discipline, chairman of the Third Judicial Department Committee of Professional Standards, a member of the Committee on Clients Security Fund, an honorary trustee of the former Ellenville Savings Bank, a judge for the Village of Ellenville Court, supervisor for the Township of Wawarsing and the assistant secretary for the New York State Constitutional Convention in 1938.
During World War II, he was a corporal in the Department of Intelligence and Security. He was honored by the Ulster County Bar Association for voluntary services to charitable, civic and religious organizations. In 1955 and 1969 he was mentioned in the Who's Who in the East.
Mr. Kaiser was an over 65-year member and past master of the Wawarsing Masonic Lodge No. 582 in Ellenville and a member and past commander of the Cook-Taylor Post No. 111, American Legion, in Ellenville. He was also a member of the Spanish Wells Country Club and Moorings Presbyterian Church in Naples, Fla.
He is survived by his wife, Emma H. Kaiser, at home; two children, Bethellen Kaiser Jones of Brookline, Mass., and Charles F. Kaiser III of Silver Springs, Md.; and four grandchildren, Charles F. Kaiser IV, Brooke V. Kaiser, Travis O. Jones and Emilie S.K. Jones.
A memorial service was held at the Bentley Village Care Facility on November 27 with the Rev. Bruce G. Ingles officiating.

Edwin "Wally" Coburn
Groundskeeper, 75
Edwin W. "Wally" Coburn of Callicoon died Saturday, May 13, 2000, in Callicoon. He was 75 years of age.
The son of the late Edwin W. and Elizabeth Campbell Coburn, he was born August 6, 1924, in Brooklyn.
Mr. Coburn was employed by the Addressograph-Multigraph Co. as a supervisor in the Rebuild Division of the Offset Printing Department for 30 years. He spent 20 years with the School of the Holy Child Jesus, Oak Knoll Schools, in Summit, N.J. where he was in charge of buildings and grounds.
A Navy Petty Officer in World War II, he saw action aboard a PT boat in New Guinea, the Phillipine Islands and the South Pacific. He was a life member of the Allan Milk Memorial Post No. 7276, Veterans of Foreign Wars, in Long Eddy. Active in sports and a very avid fisherman, he was an honorary member of the Pleasant Valley Hunting Club in Callicoon. The Coburn family still maintains a second home along the banks of the Delaware River in Pennsylvania, dating back to the early 1900s.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Coburn, of Nutley, N.J.; a daughter, Dawn Coburn Joy of Erie, Pa.; three grandchildren; three brothers, twins Robert Coburn of Albany and Richard Coburn of Florida (both formerly of Callicoon) and Harry Coburn of Hillside, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation was made at the Twin Tiers Crematory in Endicott.
A Memorial Mass will be offered at Holy Cross Church in Callicoon on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Ignatius Smith officiating.

Herbert Ballard Sr.
Ret. Truck Driver, 75
Herbert Floyd Ballard Sr. of Memphis, Tenn., a former resident of Mongaup Valley and a retired truck driver, died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at the Allenbrook Nursing Home in Memphis, Tenn. He was 75 years of age.
The son of the late Herbert William and Catherine Lare Ballard, he was born April 2, 1925, in Livingston Manor. He was the widower of Marie Elizabeth Hughes Ballard who died in 1992.
Mr. Ballard was one of the first truck drivers for Channel Master Corp., being in their employ from 1952 to 1966. He then left to drive for Silvey Trucking in Council Bluffs, Iowa, having retired in 1992 after 24 years of service.
He is survived by three sons, Russell Ballard of Kingston, Herbert Ballard Jr. of Kansas City, Kans., and Richard Ballard of Omaha, Neb.; a daughter, Lynda Maddox of Memphis, Tenn.; a brother, Albert Ballard of Bushnell, Neb.; three sisters, Joyce Morrison of Newport News, Va., Dorothy Radar of Ocala, Fla., and Ellen Thigpen of Burgaw, N.C.; and six grandchildren, Jennifer Ballard of Brooklyn, Tara Ballard of Lincoln, Neb., Amanda, Kenneth and Tyler Ballard of Kansas City, Kans., and Samuel and Caitlyn Maddox of Memphis, Tenn.
Services will be held at the Mongaup Valley Union Cemetery, Starlight Rd., Mongaup Valley on Tuesday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Kenneth Rodgers officiating.

Basil McCormack
Ret. Machinist, 65
May 19, 2000 -- Basil "Mac" McCormack of Jeffersonville and Parker Dam, Calif., a maintenance worker at Black Meadow Landing in Parker Dam and a retired automotive machinist at South End Machine Shop in Liberty, died Saturday, May 13, 2000, in Parker Dam. He was 65 years of age.
The son of the late Basil and Cecelia McCormack, he was born October 17, 1934, in Summit, N.J.
Mr. McCormack was a member and past chief of the Jeffersonville Fire Department; a former member of the Rock Hill Fire Department; a member of the Sullivan County Fire Chiefs Association and the New York State Fire Chiefs Association. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy "Dot" Bonhard Mc Cormack, at home; two daughters, Susan McCormack of East Atlantic Beach and Beth Bernitt of North Branch; two sons, Brian McCormack and John McCormack, both of Jeffersonville; four step-daughters, Robin Ihlefeldt of White Lake, Tammy Burns of Munci, Ind., Jodi Hendrickson of Sterling, Va., and Penny Sellars of Indianapolis, Ind.; four granddaughters; a grandson; and seven step-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Diane Flynn.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 12:30 p.m. at the Jeffersonville Fire House with the Rev. Robert Nee officiating.
Cremation was made in California.

Blanche ‘Dolly’ Davis
Co-Owner Artist Studio, 82
Blanche Genevieve "Dolly" Fennell Hendrickson Davis of Long Eddy, a longtime area resident and the co-owner of Wildwood Studio with her late husband, Francis Davis, died Tuesday, January 11, 2000, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris. She was 82 years of age.
The daughter of the late Arthur B. and Marguerite Sheldon Fennell, she was born September 18, 1917, in Syracuse. She was the widow of Samuel A. Hendrickson who died in 1973 and Francis W. Davis who died in 1999.
A graduate of Ridgewood (N.J.) High School, she attended Skidmore College. Mrs. Davis was the co-owner of 5-H Acres School of Riding, a state accredited and licensed school for horseback riding instructors in Cortland. The Wildwood Studio, which she and Mr. Davis operated for many years, was renowned for its fishing, wildlife and nature artistry and was located in Long Eddy. Mrs. Davis was also a statewide competitive golfer and was active in such organizations as Girl Scouts, 4-H, candy stripers and environmental education.
She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Lee and Scott Sampson of Ovid, Pat and Eric Hampleman of Albuquerque, N. Mex., and Suzie and Mitch Hubbard of Winchester, Va.; a sister, Betty Huckins of Topsfield, Mass.; and four grandchildren, Scott Sampson of Chesapeake, Va., Kate Stroh of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Kirk Hampleman of Albuquerque, N. Mex., and Luke Hubbard of Winchester, Va.
Graveside services and burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at the Glenwood Cemetery in Homer.
