Marshall W. Miller Jr. of Long Eddy, a lifelong area resident and a self-employed equipment operator for construction, died Thursday, January 4, 2001 in Cave Junction, Oreg. He was 35 years of age.
The son of the late Marshall Sr. and Catherine Gorham Miller, he was born February 6, 1965, in Hancock.
He is survived by a brother, Jack Miller of Long Eddy; his paternal grandfather, Sidney Miller of Long Eddy; his maternal grandparents, Ronald Sr. and Elizabeth Rhodes of Long Eddy; four uncles, Merlin Miller of O'Brien, Oreg., William Gorham, Michael Rhodes and Ronald Rhodes Jr., both of Long Eddy; three aunts, Mary Rico and Darlene Rake and Dolores Rhodes, both of Long Eddy; and 10 cousins.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel in Hancock.

Interment will made in the Rock Valley Cemetery.
Anna D. Brown
Ret. Falls Poultry, 82
Anna D. Brown of Liberty, a retired employee of Falls Poultry in Livingston Manor and a 20-year area resident, died Tuesday, January 16, 2001, at the Walnut Mountain Care Center in Liberty. She was 82 years of age.
The daughter of the late Peter and Louise Robinson Brown, she was born May 12, 1918, in Meridian, Miss.
Ms. Brown was a member of the Church of God and Christ in Liberty.
She is survived by a sister, Mattie Crawford of Liberty; and several cousins.
Friends may call at the Ramsay's Funeral Home, 275 S. Main St., Liberty, on Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ruth Sellers officiating.
Burial will be made in the Liberty Cemetery.
Ronnie J. Matan, 50
Ronnie J. Matan of Monticello, a longtime area resident, died Monday, January 15, 2001, at his home. He was 50 years of age.
The son of the late Ralph and Zelda Matan, he was born January 31, 1950, in Newport News, Va.
He is survived by three daughters, Kyra Matan and Jessica Matan, both of Monticello, and Christina Matan of Newport News, Va.; and a grandson, David Kimble Jr.
Cremation was made at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
Funeral arrangements were made by the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home in Monticello.
Helen Formwald
Ret. Postmaster, 88
Helen M. Formwald of Wurtsboro, a retired postmaster at the Wurtsboro Post Office and a longtime area resident, died Tuesday, January 16, 2001, at the Horton Medical Center in Middletown. She was 88 years of age.
The daughter of the late Thomas and Emma Bales Lucas, she was born May 5, 1912, in Long Island City. She was the widow of Alfred Formwald.
Mrs. Formwald was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Bloomingburg, the American Legion Post #1266 Auxiliary in Mamakating, the Mamakating Senior Citizens and the Westbrookville Senior Citizens.
In a family statement, it was said, "Helen was a loving, caring and devoted mother and grandmother."
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Lutsky of Marlboro and Jacqueline King and her husband, Kirk, of LaPalma, Calif.; a sister, Rita Lewis of Middletown; three grandchildren, Karen Lutsky, Joseph Lutsky and Kelli King; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Thomas, Francis and Joseph Lucas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Bloomingburg with Father James Sidoti, O. Carm., officiating.
Burial will be made in Sylvan Cemetery in Wurtsboro.

Dorothy Wollenhaupt
Homemaker, 91
Dorothy Wollenhaupt of Brewster, MA, a former resident of Roscoe, died on Monday, October 18, 2004 at the Pleasant Bay Nursing Home in Brewster MA. She was 91.
The daughter of the late George and Florence Lihou Carner, she was born December 3, 1912 in Poughkeepsie.
She had been a volunteer in the activities department at the Roscoe community Nursing Home and an organist for the nursing home Sunday worship services. She became a resident there from 1988 until 2002.
She is survived by three children, Richard, David and Carolyn and their spouses; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial will be Saturday, October 23, 2004 at 1 p.m. at the Brookside Cemetery, Somesville, ME. The Rev. William Bigelow will officiate.

Michael Dean Smith
Correction Officer, 47
Michael Dean Smith of Grahamsville, a Correctional Officer at Eastern New York Correctional Facility, Napanoch and a lifetime area resident died on Monday, October 18, 2004 in the Thompson House, Rhinebeck. He was 47.
The son of Franklin and Lois Tobias Smith he was born on August 1, 1957 in Liberty.
Survivors include his parents of Grahamsville, his wife Judy A. Morris Smith at home, son Michael G. Smith, daughter Amanda K. Smith, son Ryan T. Smith and granddaughter Jenna Kimberly Donovan all of Grahamsville, brother Keith and his wife Diane Smith of Swan Lake, brother Peter Smith and his companion Nettie Haas of Grahamsville, sister Bonnie Maus and her husband Alton of Sherburne, several neph- ews, nieces, aunts and uncles also survive.
There will be no visitation. A graveside service was held on Thursday at the Grahamsville Rural Cemetery. Rev. John G. Wall officiated. Arrangements were made by Loucks Funeral Home, Inc., Rt. 209, Ellenville, NY 12428.

Nick Ellis
Ret. Merchant Marine, 85
Nick Ellis, a retired Merchant Marine and 35 year resident of the area, died October 12, 2004. He was 85.
Born May 10, 1919 in Scranton, PA, he was predeceased by his parents Julia Chilipka Ellis and Nicholas Ellis.
He was in the Merchant Marines for 45 years before retiring.
He is survived by a sister, Ann Ellis of Jeffersonville and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by three brothers, Joseph Ellis, Stephen Ellis and Andrew Ellis and three sisters, Agnes Grivna, May Ellis and Helen Corriere.
There will be no service.
Vaugn LeRoy
Union Carpenter, 52
Vaugn LeRoy, a union carpenter with Hudson Valley Carpenter's Union Local 19, died October 17, 2004 at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 52.
Born October 26, 1951 in Liberty, he was the son of Fred and Dorothy M. Eagin LeRoy.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include two sons, Timothy LeRoy of Tempe, AZ and Jeffrey LeRoy and his wife Anne of Gilbert, AZ; his sister, Renee Costello and her husband Michael of Youngsville, and Hoboken; a neph- ew, Michael Costello III and a niece, Jill Costello.
Services will be Friday, October 22, 2004, at 11 a.m. at the Stewart- Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville with Father Ignatius Vu officiating.
Cremation will be at Twin Tiers Crematory in Endicott.

Gilbert E. Arvidson
Ret. Truck Driver, 72
Gilbert E. Arvidson, a 3 year resident of the area, died on Sunday, October 17, 2004 at Horton Medical Center in Middletown. He was 72.
He was born in Gutenberg, NJ on August 31, 1932 to the late Eric and Bella Carroll Arvidson. He was a retired truck driver with Local 4641 in Jersey City, NJ.
He served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include three nieces, Joan Smith and husband Harold of Old Bridge, NJ, Patricia Arvidson and Jeffrey Bogden of Red Bank, NJ, and Dianne Dopp and husband Wayne of Franklin Lakes, NJ.
There will be no visitation. Cremation was at the convenience of the family at Cedar Hill Crematory in Newburgh.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 23, at Ramsay's Funeral Homes, Inc. on 275 South Main Street in Liberty at 1 p.m.
