MURRAY - 50TH

Walter Jack and Marian Murray of Horseheads, NY marked their 50th wedding anniversary on March 5th, 2005. Mr. Murray and the former Marian Smith Calaman were married March 5, 1955. The couple has three children. They are Sheryl (Michael) Scott of Huber Heights, OH; Timothy (Debra) Murray of Bridgewater, NJ; and David (Cheryl) Murray of North Fort Myers, FL. There are eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Obituary of Walter Murray:

MURRAY Walter Jack, Age 77, of Horseheads, NY passed away on Sunday March 22, 2009 at The Canandaigua VA Hospital. Jack was born July 22, 1931 in Elmira, NY the son of the late Walter Alfred Murray and Katherine Louise Robinson Murray. He was a Korean War Veteran serving his country with The U.S. Army. Jack was a life-time member of The Bentley-Trumble American Legion Post # 442 in Horseheads, NY, The Disabled AmericanVeterans of Elmira, and a life member of The Second Division Association 82nd Anti-Aircraft Artillery B Battery Korean War Branch. Jack married his wife, Marian L. Smith Murray, on March 5, 1955 and they recently celebrated their 54th Wedding Anniversary. Jack was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of The Shriners. He was a former member of The Elmira Eagles Club. Mr. Murray was a Manager of Production Control at Kennedy Valve in Elmira, NY for several years. He was also the manager of McDonald's Restaurants in Horseheads and Elmira. Mr. Murray was pre-deceased by his parents, his sister Marilyn Freeman, and his brother Leo Murray. Jack is survived by his loving and devoted wife Marian L. Smith Murray; his loving children: Sheryl & Michael Scott of Huber Heights, Ohio and their children Bryan Scott and Megan Scott; Timothy L. & Debbie Murray of Bridgewater, NJ and their children Patrick Murray and Christen Murray; David W. & Cheryl Murray of Fort Myers, Florida and their children Heather, Shannon, Shawn, Brandon, Ryan, T.J., and Justin Murray; sisters Barbara Hemley of Horseheads, NY, Kay Ellis of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Sandra Hausman of Melbourne, Florida; sister-in-law: Eleanor Covey of Elmira, NY; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of caring friends. Private Funeral Services will be held at Woodlawn National Cemetery in Elmira, NY where Full Military Honors will be accorded Mr. Murray. Arrangements entrusted to the Lynch Funeral Home 318 West Broad Street Horseheads, NY.
