Obituary of Richard Perrin:
PERRIN, Richard "Dick", Age 86 years, of 59 Indian Pipe, Painted Post, NY, died Friday, August 24, 2007, at the Corning Hospital. He was born October 19, 1920 in Corning, NY, the son of the late Henry Delbert and Leona Millard Perrin. A lifetime resident of the area, graduating from Corning Free Academy and attending the University of Texas and Syracuse University. Dick and Nancy Jackson were married December 16, 1944 in Buffalo, NY. Over the years as salesman for Hungerford Buick in Corning, NY, he was known for his integrity and wonderful sense of humor. Dick will truly be missed by his family and numerous friends. He was a pilot and loved flying and enjoyed a good game of golf. His little garden was his interest and joy. He attended the First Presbyterian Church of Corning and was a 32nd Degree Mason. Surviving are his wife, Nancy, of 63 years; sons, Richard D. Perrin II of Akron, OH, and Jeffrey D. Perrin of Corning, NY; daughters, Jennifer Perrin Siple of Surfside, SC, and Suzanne Perrin (August A.) Pfister of Cincinnati, OH; four grandchildren, Erica Pfister Altschul, Andrew B. Pfister, Jason Siple and Jennifer Lynn Siple; wwo great-grandchildren, Lillian Altschul and Reuben Altschul. He was predeceased by his sisters, Elsie Perrin Horton and Doris Perrin Renner. Private family services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Corning, with entombment at the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Gardens Columbarium. Arrangements are with the Haughey Funeral Home, 216 E. First St., Corning, NY. The family would appreciate Memorial Donations be given in Dick's name to the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Garden, 1 East First St., Corning, NY 14830.
Obituary of Nancy Perrin:
Nancy J. Perrin, age 92, formerly of Corning and Painted Post, NY died in Christ on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at the Steuben County Health Care Facility, Bath, NY. Nancy was born on November 25, 1921 in Buffalo, NY to Paul and Rosalind (Bagnall) Jackson. She married Richard Perrin, of Corning, on December 16, 1944 in Buffalo and was predeceased by him on August 24, 2007. Nancy received a bachelor's degree from Elmira College and was awarded a Masters of Library Science from Drexel University. Her professional librarian career began in Rochester NY. After several years as the Reference Librarian at the Corning Memorial Library on Pine Street, she held the directorship until it was closed and moved to the Nasser Civic Center. She retired from there as the Reference Librarian and volunteered for some time afterward. A sixty-year member of the Corning Clionian Circle, Nancy was also a member of the American Association of University Women and the Elmira College Alumni Association and was a literacy volunteer. She became an avid reader as a child and at the encouragement of her maternal grandmother decided to become a librarian when she was twelve years old. Nancy enjoyed herb and flower gardening, and was a deeply devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She had a strong personal faith in Jesus and was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Corning. Nancy is survived by her daughters: Jennifer Perrin Siple of Philadelphia, PA and Suzanne (August) Pfister of West Chester Ohio; her sons: Richard Perrin, II of Akron, OH, and Jeffrey Perrin of South Hamilton, MA; grandchildren Erica (Brett) Altschul, Andrew Pfister, Jason Siple, and Jennifer L. (Joseph) Gambardello; nephew Joseph Jackson; sister-in-law, Frances Jackson, and four great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Paul Jackson, II. A public memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 26th, at the First Presbyterian Church of Corning with Reverend James Moore officiating. The meditation will be provided by Jeffrey Perrin. Nancy's final resting place will be in the church's memorial garden columbarium. Memorial gifts may be made in Nancy's name to the Elmira College Scholarship fund, the Corning First Presbyterian Church, or the Southeast Steuben County Library Memorial Book fund.
