VAN RIPER - 55TH

Fred and Millie "Fritz" Van Riper of Spencer, NY marked their 55th wedding anniversary on November 7th with a small family celebration held at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA where Mr. Van Riper was a patient. Frederick S. Van Riper and the former Millie F. "Fritz" Benjamin were united in marriage on November 7th, 1948 by the Rev. Ruthven Chalmers at the Spencer Federated Church. Mr. Van Riper retired from Spencer Ford Sales in 1986 after 38 years of service; Mrs. Van Riper retired from Sears in 1991 after 28 years of service. The couple have four children: Vickie (Mike) Kartychak of Horseheads, NY; Keith (Pat) Van Riper of Van Etten, NY; Chris (Laura) Van Riper of Mentor, OH; and Renee (Chris) Arnold of Erin, NY. Balloons, flowers and cards were presented to the Van Ripers, and a sparkling cider toast was enjoyed by all. Family friend Jason Baker of Spencer gave the Van Ripers a lovely bouquet of 55 roses to mark their special day.
