Rev. John and Dr. Gesa Valk are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Jennie Elsie Valk to Michael W. Merna, Jr. of Columbus, Ohio. Michael received a degree in Business Administration from Ohio State University in 1991 and is currently a partner at Schiffman Grow & Co., a Columbus public accounting firm. Jennie Valk graduated from Horseheads High School in 1991, and received a degree in Elementary Education from SUNY College at Fredonia in 1995. She earned her Master's degree in "severe disabilities" from the University of Washington. Currently Jennie is completing a doctoral program in special education and applied behavior analysis at the Ohio State University. The couple plans to marry in May of 2004 in Columbus.
