Clarence (Mike) and Emily Mayer of Elmira, New York marked their 59th wedding anniversary with a trip to Southern Pennsylvania on October 27, 2004. Mr. Clarence Mayer and the former Emily Cook were married October 27, 1945 by the Rev. Travis at the home of Emily's parents in Roseville, Pennsylvania. The couple has one child; Randy Mayer of Cayuga, New York. There are two grandchildren: Jeffrey and Jordan. Mr. Mayer is retired from American LaFrance after 40 years of service and Mrs. Mayer is retired from the Elmira School District.

Obituary of Emily Mayer:
MAYER, Emily W., formerly of Allen St., was born April 29, 1922 in Roseville, PA the daughter of the late Minor and Belle (Sornberger) Cook passed away peacefully on Monday, February 15, 2010 at the Elcor Health Services at the age of 87. Her loving husband of 61 years, Clarence K. "Mike" Mayer preceded her in death on March 28, 2007. Her brothers, Melvin Cook and Ford Cook also predeceased her. She is survived by her beloved son, Randy Mayer of Cayuga, NY; adored grandchildren, Jeffrey and Jordan Mayer both of Michigan; brother, Owen Cook of Mechanicsburg, PA; brother-in-law, James (Ethel) Mayer of Elmira, NY; along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Emily was a faithful member of the former Centenary United Methodist Church. She retired from the Elmira City School District as a Cafeteria worker after many dedicated years of service. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira/Southport, NY on Thursday, February 18, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held there on Friday, February 19th at 11:00 AM. The Reverend Michael Weeden will officiate. Interment will take place in the Woodlawn Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her loving husband, "Mike". In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the Southern Tier Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
