Delphos
EDITH PEARL POLLOCK, 89, died at 6:30 p.m. April 23, 2007, at VanCrest Nursing Home, Van Wert.
She was born Feb. 24, 1918, in Ridge Township, Van Wert County, to Virda and Retta Leiter Wollet, who preceded her in death. On Feb. 28, 1937, she married
Wilbur Pollock, who survives in Delphos. They recently celebrated 70 years of marriage with family and friends.
Mrs. Pollock was a homemaker and farmed with her husband. She was a life member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Middle Point, and its women's group. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She has now gone to be with her Savior.
Survivors also include a son-in-law, Henry Germann, of Delphos; four grandchildren, Gayle (Brent) Harman and Eric (Karen) Germann, both of Van Wert, Neill (Angela) Germann, of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Julie Germann, of Chicago; and 14 great-grandchildren, Joel and Jenna Harman, both of Van Wert, Cortney (Jeff) Knittle, of Spencerville, Jordann, Kaitlin, Nick and Micah Germann, all of Van Wert, and Kyle, Wade, Alyssa, Austin, Tyler, Cierra and Adrianna Germann, all of Fort Wayne, Ind.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cartha June Germann, who died in October 1994; three brothers, Owen, Alfred and Waldo Wollet; and an infant sister, Icy Mae Wollet.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Middle Point. Pastor Thomas Cover will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge cemetery, Middle Point.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert, and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.

Ada
EDWARD HUGGETT POWELL, 94, died at 9:02 p.m. April 23, 2007, at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.
He was born Jan. 3, 1913, in Hardin County to Orange C. and Frances Mary Huggett Powell, who preceded him in death. On April 21, 1935, he married
Helen Ruth Ewing, who survives in Bluffton. They had just celebrated 72 years of marriage.
Mr. Powell was a lifelong farmer and cattle feeder. He was co-founder of O.C. Powell & Sons Seed Co., which in now known as Powell Seeds. He was a member of Ada First United Methodist Church. He had served on the Hardin Northern Board of Education and on the board of Madison Mutual Insurance Co. He was a member of the Hardin County Farm Bureau, the Pleasant Hill Grange and the Hardin County Cattleman. In November 2006 he was inducted into the Hardin County Agricultural Hall of Fame. He was a 1930 graduate of Dola High School.
Survivors also include a daughter, Phyllis (Bill) Griffith, of Ada; a brother, Donald (Elinor) Powell, of Ada; two sisters, Beatrice Runkle, of Ada, and Marjorie (John) Omler, of Waterville; two grandsons, Doug Griffith, of St. Louis, and Ted (Tara) Griffith, of Ada; and a great-granddaughter, Contessa Powell Griffith, of Ada.
He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Leroy Runkle.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada. The Rev. Wayne Albertson will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery, Ada.

PAUL J. PRITZL, 70, of Woodruff, Wis., formerly of Lima, died April 20, 2007, at Seasons of Life Hospice in Woodruff.

LENORA KATHERINE WILLIAMS, 92, died peacefully in her sleep at 12:20 a.m. April 21, 2007, at Lima Convalescent Home.
She was born Jan. 2, 1915, in Montra to Frank and Lulu Faler Snavley, who preceded her in death. On July 30, 1940, in Wapakoneta, she married
Virgil E. Williams, who died July 3, 1980.
Mrs. Williams worked for more than 30 years as a hospital nurse and later as a private duty nurse. She was a life member of Cable Road Alliance Church. She had served as president of St. Rita's Alumni Association and was a dedicated volunteer at the Red Cross Blood Center, the Senior Citizens Center, with the Lima Public School Parent-Teacher Associations, the Lima Senior High Boosters and the Girl and Boy Scouts of America. She was a graduate of Jackson Center High School and received her registered nurse's degree in 1936 from St. Rita's School of Nursing. She will be remembered not only for her kindness as a nurse, but also for her thoughtfulness and generosity to her family, friends and neighbors. She was a woman of great faith, whose spiritual commitment was also evident in her service to the community.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Jean (Lynn) Whitney, of Littleton, Colo., and Ruth Anne Channell, of Milwaukee; two sons, Ken (Hannah) Williams, of Greenwood, Ind., and Tom (Mary) Williams, of Columbus; seven grandchildren, Mark Channell, of Berkeley, Calif., Rochelle (Gregor) Layman, of Lake Jackson, Texas, John (Sue) Whitney, of Durango, Colo., Bridget (Thom) Golden, of Nashville, Tenn., Christina Williams, of Dayton, Katie Ann Williams, of Wheaton, Ill., and Chase Williams, of Columbus; six great-grandchildren, Jessica Layman, Scott Layman, Christopher Layman, Mariah Whitney, Tara Whitney and Andrew Golden; two brothers, Wayne "Pete" (Marge) Snavley, of Sidney, and Paul "Mike" (Jerri) Snavley, of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister, Doris (Ned) Schurr, of Speedway, Ind.; four sisters-in-law, Evelyn Snavley and Em Snavley, both of Sidney, Dolly Snavley, of Dayton, and Janet Snavley Schoonover, of Lima; and a devoted niece, Susan Quinn Ricker, of Lima.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Snavley Quinn; and six brothers, Irvin "Buddy," Homer "Whitey," Everett "Jake," Ralph "Sam," Dwight "Tubby," and John Snavley.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Ron Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery.

BETTY L. SHANKES, 78, died at 5 a.m. April 24, 2007, at his residence.
She was born Sept. 18, 1928, in McGuffey to William P. and Eva Mae Gunn Tschantz, who preceded her in death. On Aug. 14, 1948, she married
Robert E. Shankes, who died Jan. 28, 1985.
Mrs. Shankes was a homemaker.
Survivors include four sons, Gary Cummings and Marshall Shankes, both of Alger, and Richard Eugene Shankes and Anthony Wayne Shankes; two daughters, Bonnie Horner, of Alger, and Rosemary Pence, of Las Vegas; a brother, Charles Claybaugh, of Idaho; and several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, James Robert Shankes; and three brothers.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger. Pastor Frank P. Smith Sr. will officiate. Graveside services will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at the Holly Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, Colerain.

GILBERT DURON SR., 69, died at 1:15 p.m. Dec. 31, 2002, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 1, 1933, in Taylor, Texas, to Daniel and Dominga Martinze Duron. His mother survives in Lima.
Mr. Duron was a welder. He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church.
Survivors include six sons, Daniel G. (Sara) Duron Sr. of Berlin, Ga.; Emanuel J. Duron of Lima, Francis X. Duron of Saginaw, Mich.; and John J. Duron, Gilbert L. Duron and Andrew Duron, all of Haines City, Fla.; six daughters, Marguerita Gallegos of Beesville, Texas; Consuelo (Yisador) Lopez of Lake Wells, Fla.; Apolina D. (Larry) Moore of Brownville, Texas; Maria (Ricky) Barrean of Dundee, Fla., and Gaudalupe D. (Jose) Deorta and Isabelle (Chavo) Navarro, both of Haines City, Fla.; a brother, Emanuel M. Duron of Lima; a sister, Isabelle (Sonny) Stoneburner of Lima; and 35 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
Services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Rose Catholic Church. The Rev. Christopher Vasko will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani cemetery.
