GERALD A. ARTHUR, 75, died at 5:55 p.m. Aug. 17, 2004, at his residence.
He was born June 6, 1929, in Auglaize County to Howard and Ethel Naylor Arthur, who preceded him in death. On Aug. 20, 1950, he married
Gwena M. "Mickey" McMichael, who died Aug. 21, 2002.
Mr. Arthur had been a truck driver for A&R Freight Systems for 35 years, and had been a self-employed contractor. He was a member of Rousculp Church of Christ. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, who spent his life helping those he loved. He was generous beyond words. His family and friends will desperately miss him.
Survivors include two sons, Rodney (Sue) Arthur of Hilliard and Jeff (Ann) Arthur of Senoia, Ga.; two daughters, Dianna "DeeDee" Drexler and Lisa (Jeff) Gordon, both of Lima; three brothers, Wilson Arthur of Lima, Herschel Arthur of Waynesfield and Mack Arthur of Lafayette; 14 grandchildren, Tammy Runneals, Mike Runneals, Teri (fiancé Matt Gilles) Bullock, Heather Arthur, Erin Arthur, Ryan Guisinger, Brittney Gordon, Anthony Gordon, Adam Gordon, Alexis Gordon, Brooke Arthur, Matthew Arthur, Jessica Arthur and Joseph Arthur; six great-grandchildren, Samantha Bullock, Danielle Bullock, Andrew Bullock, Ema O'Hara, Tori Runneals, Nolon Runneals, and a seventh great-grandchild due in October; a daughter-in-law, Mary Arthur of Indianapolis; four sisters-in-law, Vaude Arthur, Betty Johnston, Shirley (John) Sprinkle and Pauline (Charles) Joder; and family pets, his dog, Trixie, and his duck, Mickey.
He was preceded in death by a son, Bob Arthur; a son-in-law, John Drexler; three brothers, Ralph, Vern and Dick Arthur; two sisters, Bonnetta Cummings and Maxine Hedrick; a sister-in-law, Eileen Pitchford; and a brother-in-law, Dorn McMichael Jr.
Services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at Chiles & Sons-Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel. The Rev. Mark Vernick will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemet
Lima
MARY LOUISE COLEMAN, 77, died at 8:07 p.m. Aug. 17, 2004, at Richland Manor Nursing Home, Bluffton.
She was born Aug. 24, 1926, in Owensboro, Ky., to James and Cassie Jackson Thomas Sr., who preceded her in death. In April 1948, she married
James R. Coleman, who died Feb. 13, 1992.
Mrs. Coleman retired as a Head Start teacher in Lima/Allen County, after 26 years. She was a member of Cornerstone Harvest Church. She had been a member of the Lima Rehabilitation Board, the NAACP and the Concerned Parents Association. She was elected to represent the 6th Ward on Lima City Council in 1995, but was unable to complete her term due to illness. She was the organizer of the Southside Neighborhood Association and served as president, encouraging the members to take an active role in improving their neighborhood. Through the association she assisted in planning joint projects with the Cheryl Allen Center, such as: Southside Roundup Projects; Restoring Our Community; Conference on Violence; Women's Health Month; Summer Fest '95 along with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Neighborhood Association; and the National Night Out with the Lima Police Department, the Salvation Army and the Cheryl Allen Southside Center. She was awarded the Golden Paradigm Award in 1998. She worked quietly in the background, but everyone in her neighborhood knew they could count on her for guidance, encouragement and support. They came to her and followed her because she lived her convictions of high ideals and hope for the future and was willing to work hard today for tomorrow.
Survivors include a son, Gregory (Pamela) Coleman of Lima; three daughters, Wanda Coleman of Lima, Joyce (Frank) Turner of Columbus, Ga., and Annetta L. (Jerry) Williamson of Gurnee, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three brothers, James (Bernice) Thomas Jr. and Charles (Lillie) Thomas, both of Lima, and Walter Thomas of Japan; two sisters, Etta (Richard) Sutherland of Owensboro, Ky., and Emma Parker of Joliet, I
Lima
HARRIET K. GLANCY, 91, died at 3 p.m. Aug. 18, 2004, at Lima Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Aug. 28, 1912, in Springfield to Reuben M. and Anna Catherine Nuss Roush, who preceded her in death. On Nov. 24, 1930, she married
William H. Glancy, who died June 11, 1946.
Mrs. Glancy had been a department head at Gregg's Department Store and owner/operator of Vogue Cleaners for 13 years. She was a life member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, its Semper Fidelis Sunday school class and its Women's Altar Guild. She had been a volunteer for the Allen County Red Cross and a former member of the Soroptimist Club.
Survivors include a stepson, William G. (Connie) Glancy of Lima; two daughters, Joyce E. (Richard) Cira and Sheila N. (L.M. "Bud") Miller, both of Lima; a brother, Roger (Lois) Roush of Lima; a sister, Marjorie Roush of Lima; eight grandchildren, Nicholas Cira, Rick Cira, Lisa (Don) Russell, David (Barbara) Cira, Marcy Metzger, Mindy (Steve) Wise, Laura (Darrell) Ball and Lynn (Jerry) Sarchet; and 14 great-grandchildren, Amber Cira, Adam Cira, Guss Cira, Gabe Cira, Matt Cira, Ashley Russell, Andrew Russell, Marla Metzger, Jared Metzger, Eric Wise, Matt Wise, Kyle Wise, Sarah Evans and Emily Evans.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Ann Glancy; three brothers, Arthur, Lewis and Albert Roush; and a grandchild, Ryan Cira.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke Lutheran Church. The Rev. Arthur Wilde will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Chiles & Sons-Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel, and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.

NORMA JEAN GROSS, 57, died at 5:55 p.m. Aug. 18, 2004, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 8, 1946, to William H. and H. Irene Bell Harelson Sr., who preceded her in death. On June 15, 1976, in Portland, Ind., she married
Roger L. Gross, who died Aug. 27, 1997.
Mrs. Gross had been a licensed practical nurse at Tandem Health Care, Kenton. She was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370 Auxiliary and had been a member of LPN Association.
Survivors include a daughter, Constance "Mimi" (Roger) Lehman of Lima; a son, Andrew Gross of Lima; four grandchildren; several stepchildren; a sister, Nancy Birchfield of Lima; and a niece and several nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, William H. Harelson Jr.
Services will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday at Siferd Funeral Home, Westwood Chapel. The Rev. Ray Swallow will officiated. Burial will be in Sugar Creek cemetery.

CAROL JEAN HONE, 70, died at 4:20 p.m. Aug. 18, 2004, at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater.

ROGER E. KENTON, 62, of Columbus, formerly of Bluffton, died at 5:15 p.m. Aug. 18, 2004, at his residence.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada. Dr. Ronald Hopkins will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery, Bluffton.

DAVID JAMES McKINNEY, 52, died at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 17, 2004, at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland.
He was born June 26, 1952, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to James and Janet Reed McKinney, who preceded him in death. His stepmother, Jane McKinney, survives in Lima. He married
Rebecca Wysong, who survives in Wapakoneta.
Mr. McKinney retired from BP Chemical Co., Lima, after 271/2 years. He was a member of American Trapshooting Association and the National Rifle Association. He was a member of Ohio trapshooting teams for several years. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener and trapshooter.
Survivors also include two daughters, Kara McKinney and Patricia McKinney, both at home; a son, Bryan McKinney, at home; a stepdaughter, Stephanie Wysong of Lima; a sister, Charlene Myers of Lafayette; a stepsister, Sandy (Paul) Hahn of Elida; a stepbrother, Greg Moorman of Elida; three grandchildren, Blake, Cohl and Grant, all of Lima; two nieces, Danielle and Sheila; two great-nieces, Katie and Karlie; and several aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Ray and Nellie Reed; and paternal grandparents, Harold and Florence McKinney.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Henry Sattler will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Hill cemetery, New Hampshire, Ohio.

Kenton
VERNON R. PFEIFFER, 92, died at 3:15 a.m. Aug. 19, 2004, at Kenton Nursing and Rehabilitation.
He was born Jan. 7, 1912, in Hardin County to William and Catherine Ramge Pfeiffer, who preceded him in death. On April 16, 1938, he married
Eva Lenora Sloan, who died Jan. 27, 1995.
Mr. Pfeiffer retired from farming and as an insurance agent for Farmers Mutual Insurance Co. He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, where he had served on its council. He was a member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 157, Kenton. He had served on the Hardin Memorial Hospital board, the Hardin County Board of Elections and as president of the Hardin County Farm Bureau. He had been active in the Hardin County Democratic Party, where he had served as chairman.
Survivors include a daughter, Jean Pfeiffer of Florida; two sons, William (Julie) Pfeiffer and Larry (Ann) Pfeiffer, both of Kenton; and eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Pfeiffer; a sister, Avonelle Orvis; and a great-grandson.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Schindewolf-Stevens-Stout Funeral Home, Kenton. The Rev. Scott Johnson and Pastor Chuck Zwiezig will officiate. Burial will be in Grove cemetery, Kenton.
Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home, where a BPOE lodge of sorrow service will be held at 7 p.m.
