Delphos
MELVIN J. MARTZ, 83, died at 12:06 p.m. April 25, 2007, at VanCrest Health Care Center, Delphos.
He was born April 15, 1924, in Delphos to Edward and Gertrude Gladen Martz, who preceded him in death. On April 12, 1947, in Fort Jennings, he married
Eileen Krietemeyer, who survives in Delphos.
Mr. Martz was a farmer and had been a representative for Pioneer Seed for 31 years. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 1362, Delphos. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3740, Ottoville, American Legion Post 715, Fort Jennings, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 471, Delphos. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Philippines. He enjoyed playing cards and dancing for several years. He also enjoyed playing golf and attending high school sporting events.
Survivors also include, four sons, Bill (Becky) Martz, of Houston, Texas, Joe (Diane) Martz, of Delphos, Chuck (Sue) Martz, of Midland, Mich., and Steve (Dena) Martz, of Delphos; two sisters, Leona Miller, of Ottoville, and Alice (Ralph) Hoehn, of Delphos; and 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Erwin Martz; and a sister, Alvera Osting.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos. Father Melvin Verhoff will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery, Delphos, with military rites.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Harter & Schier Funeral Home, Delphos, where a wake service will be held at 7 p.m.

Cridersville
EVELYN L. HENNE, 89, died at 10:20 a.m. Nov. 2, 2006, at Cridersville Health Care Center.
She was born Feb. 16, 1917, in Noble Township, Auglaize County, to Elmer and Velma McClintock Rasneor, who preceded her in death. On July 31, 1937, she married
Joseph D. Henne, who survives in Cridersville.
Mrs. Henne retired as a beautician from Lois' Beauty Shop, St. Marys. She was a member of Westview United Methodist Church, Cridersville. She had been a member of the Wapakoneta Country Club, Wapakoneta, and the Goodwill Club, St. Marys. She had been a volunteer at Lima Memorial Health System.
Survivors include a brother, Donald Rasneor, of St. Marys; and eight nieces and nephews, Linda (Bob) Pruitt, of Greenville, Ind., and Bruce (Julie) Rasneor, Mark Rasneor, Clark (Helen) Rasneor, Roger Rasneor, Shirley (Barry) Kemp, Barbara Glass and Ned (Christine) Glass, all of St. Marys.
She was preceded in death by a son, Larry Joseph Henne; a bother, Guy Rasneor; and a sister, Ruth Glass.
Services will begin at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. The Rev. Nola Heilman will officiate. Burial will be in Elm Grove cemetery, St. Marys.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Van Wert
EWAN KYL MARECIC was stillborn at 9:15 p.m. Oct. 31, 2006, at Van Wert County Hospital.
Private family services will be held at a later date.

Van Wert
DAVID WAYNE MORRIS, 81, died at 6:20 p.m. Nov. 1, 2006, at his residence.
He married
Hilda G. Medaugh, who survives in Van Wert.
Mr. Morris retired from farming after 45 years. He had also worked at Aeroquip Corp., Van Wert for 10 years; Vantage Vocational School, Van Wert, for seven years, and Ford Motor Co. Lima Engine Plant for six years. He and his wife had a booth at an antique store in Grabill, Ind., for several years.
Survivors also include a son, Timothy (Lois) Morris, of Silver Springs, Md.; two daughters, Kimberly (Dana) Gehres, of Adrian, Mich., and Stephanie (Paul) Callaro, of Malvern, Pa.; a daughter-in-law, Linda Lininger Morris, of Van Wert; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, David Gregory Morris.
Services will begin at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Salem Presbyterian Church, Venedocia.
Friends may call following services Sunday at the church.

Lima
BETTY JEANE HALL, 80, died at 5:40 p.m. Oct. 31, 2006, at her residence.
She was born June 27, 1926, in Lima to Fay Pharis and Ethel Harriet Taylor Elston, who preceded her in death. On May 11, 1946, she married
David Hall, who died Aug. 29, 1981.
Mrs. Hall was a homemaker. She had worked at GroCord Rubber Co., Ex-Cell-O and City Loan & Savings. She was member of South Side Christian Church and its Friendly Christians Sunday school class. She loved baking, making chocolates and gardening. She made all kinds of special occasion cakes.
Survivors include three children, Lynda (Richard) Hensley, of Lima, Michael (Jennifer) Hall, of Celina and Susan (Dane) Bowers, of Wauseon; three grandchildren, Courtney Bowers, of Wauseon, Amanda (Kevin) Little, of Katy, Texas, and Jedidiah (Jennifer) Bowers, of Wauseon; two stepgrandsons, James (Cathy) Yaney and Loren (Angie) Yaney, both of Celina; three great-grandchildren, Conner Bowers, Carlos Bowers and Kamryn Little; and four stepgreat-grandchildren, Allison, Douglas, Kali and Gage.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Rachael Elizabeth Hensley.
Services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery.
Friends may call from 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Lima
MARTHA M. VERHOFF, 87, died at 4:45 p.m. Oct. 31, 2006, at Lima Memorial Health System.
She was born Nov. 25, 1918, in Delphos to Charles and Susan C. Moreo Lucius, who preceded her in death. On May 11, 1946, she married
Harry H. Verhoff, who died April 17, 1992.
Mrs. Verhoff was a homemaker. She retired as an executive secretary from Westinghouse Electric Corp., after more than 30 years, and had worked at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base for five years during World War II. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church, Lima, and its St. Vincent DePaul and Altar Rosary societies. She was a member and volunteer of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275 Auxiliary. She was hardworking and loved gardening, canning and her farm. She was a huge fan of the National Basketball Association and an avid card player. She helped many people.
Survivors include five children, Mary Ann (Michael) Nickles, of Lima, David (Sharon) Verhoff, of Somerville, Philip (Sandi) Verhoff, of Fort Wayne, Ind., Barbara Verhoff, of Rockford, Ill., and Susan (Bill) Morris of Knoxville, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Sister Mary Clarone Lucius, of Toledo, Sister Rowena Lucius, of Lexington, Mass., and Virginia (Addison) Cadwell, of Dayton; and two sisters-in-law, Linda Lucius and Marceil Lucius.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Earl, Sylvester, Lester, Virgil and Howard Lucius; and a sister, Charlotte Obringer.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John Catholic Church, Lima. The Rev. William J. Rose will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, where a parish wake service will be held at 4 p.m.

Lima
RALPH PAUL JOHNSON, 92, died at 10:35 a.m. Nov. 2, 2006, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 5, 1914, in Chicago to Elby Johnson and Anne Manspeaker, who preceded him in death. Her married
Ann Robb, who died in 1975. On Feb. 14, 1976, he married
Nancy Hoffman, who survives.
Mr. Johnson retired from the floor covering industry after 40 years, working in sales and management at Toledo Lasalle and Koch Department Store. He had also worked in the antiques and collectibles business at Nantiques, Grand Rapids. He was a member of South Side Christian Church. He was especially proud of playing semi-professional baseball with the Industrial League, New York City. He remained a sports enthusiast all of his life. He and his wife had made numerous friends from several states through their antiques business.
Survivors also include a daughter, Carol Anne Van Sickle, of Toledo; four grandchildren, Tracy (David) Lindke, Leslie (Phillip) Smith, Geoffrey (Stephanie) Van Sickle and Andrew Paul Van Sickle; and six great-grandchildren, Taylor and Tenley Jamieson, Matthew and Paige Smith and Madison and John Van Sickle.
Services will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday at Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel. The Rev. Douglas Adams will officiate. Burial will be in St. John United Church of Christ cemetery, Holgate.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday and one hour prior to services Sunday at the funeral home.

ROBERT A. "BOB" WEBER, 78, died at 2:17 p.m. Nov. 1, 2006, at Taylor House Hospice Center, Des Moines, Iowa.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Gerard Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. John cemetery, Delphos, with military rites by the Delphos Veterans Council.
Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, where the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree will post guard from 5 to 7 p.m. and a rosary service will be held at 7 p.m.
