WALDO R. "BUCK" MERTZ, 89, died at 9:55 p.m. June 19, 2003, at Lima Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sept. 29, 1913, in Clay Township, Auglaize County to Walter and Flossie Campbell Mertz, who preceded him in death. On April 30, 1938, he married
Alice Emerson, who died May 15, 2003.
Mr. Mertz was a crane operator for District 2, Local 18 of the Ohio Operating Engineers. He was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church, St. Johns. He was a member of IOOF 660, St. Johns. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Italy.
Survivors include two sisters, Mary (Robert) Kuehl of Wapakoneta and Phyllis (Donald) Partee of Lima; and several nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald, Victor and Robert Mertz; and three sisters, Marguerite Beech, Caroline Davidson and Betty Hines.
Graveside services will begin at 2 p.m. Monday in St. Joseph cemetery, Wapakoneta. The Rev. David Gordon will officiate.
There will be no public visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rita's Hospice.

Wapakoneta
JAMES H. METZGER, 71, died at 3 a.m. June 20, 2003, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 9, 1931, in Auglaize County to Carl and Mabel Smart Metzger, who preceded him in death. On July 4, 1952, he married
Joan Ziegenbusch, who survives.
Mr. Metzger retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation, Auglaize County, after 32 years. He was a member of the YMCA in Celina and the Auglaize Fish and Game Club. He was an Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, a National Guard veteran of two years and a 27-year veteran of the Army Reserves, with a total of 31 years of military service.
Survivors also include a son, Jeffrey Metzger of Wapakoneta; a daughter, Kathy Hubbard of Leesville, La.; three brothers, Carl (Bea) Metzger Jr. of Sebring, Fla., Gerald (Donna) Metzger of Lake of the Ozarks, Mo., and Joe (Ivy) Metzger of Wapakoneta; a sister, Sally (Don) Shaw of Kettlersville; a brother-in-law, Lewis Minnich of Urbana.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Flossie Minnich.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, Wapakoneta. The Rev. Carl W. Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery, Wapakoneta, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8445.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Huntsville
LOUIS E. MOUSER, 80, died June 19, 2003, at Heartland of Indian Lake Nursing Center, Lakeview.
He was born Aug. 12, 1922, in Bellefontaine to Louis and Lou Coulter Mouser, who preceded him in death. On April 15, 1946, in Richmond, Va., he married
Ileta Weaver, who survives. They had been married
57 years.
Mr. Mouser had worked at Carl Subler Trucking for 15 years and DAB of Bellefontaine for 15 years. He was a member of American Legion Post 381, Huntsville, and a life member of AMVETS Post 39, Indian Lake, and the Disabled American Veterans. He enlisted in the Army and entered the Navy during World War II. He enjoyed fishing and auto racing.
Survivors also include a son, Ed (Diane) Mouser of Huntsville; a daughter, Janet (Don) Daniels of Belle Center; a sister, Janet Heuer of Sanford, Fla.; five grandchildren, Stacy (Ryan) Holycross, Ryan Mouser, John (Mandy) Daniels, Don Daniels Jr. and Chris Daniels; and four great-grandchildren, Ashley and Logan Holycross and Shaylene and Matt Daniels.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Littleton & Rue Funeral Home, Highland Chapel, West Liberty. The Rev. Scott Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memorial cemetery, West Liberty.

KELLY M. PEARSON, 19, died June 19, 2003, near Bluffton.
Services will begin at 7 p.m. Sunday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert. The Rev. Dr. Edward Jillson will officiate. Burial will be at a later date.

CLETUS H. SCHUERMAN, 86, died at 7:50 a.m. June 20, 2003, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
He was born July 4, 1916, in Fort Jennings to Joseph A. and Lucy Krieger Schuerman. On Feb. 13, 1954, he married
Mary A. Bracker, who survives in Fort Jennings.
Mr. Schuerman retired as a farmer. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Jennings. He was a member of American Legion Post 715, Fort Jennings. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors also include a son, Michael V. (Deb) Schuerman of Fort Jennings; two daughters, Marsha (Carl) Schimmoeller of Fort Jennings and Carol (James) Collins of Sylvania; and seven grandchildren, Eric and Amy Schimmoeller, Samuel and Jacob Schuerman, Ross Stant and Jessica and Sara Collins.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Vincent and Frederick Schuerman; and three sisters, Helen Krietemeyer, Regina Schuerman and Marie Preston.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Church cemetery, Fort Jennings, with military rites by American Legion Post 715.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today and 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Orians Funeral Home, Delphos, where an American Legion service will be held at 7:30 p.m. and a parish wake service is planned, both on Sunday evening.

LOGAN MACLAIN STALEY, 13 hours 38 minutes, died at 2:25 a.m. June 20, 2003, at Toledo Children's Hospital.
Graveside services will begin at 2 p.m. Monday in Preston cemetery, Alger. The Rev. Randall Wilson will officiate.

Lima
BOB N. STEVENSON Sr., 54, of Covington, formerly of Lima, died June 19, 2003, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 20, 1948, in Troy to Robert L. and Dolly E. Minnich Stevenson. His mother survives in Covington. His fiancée, Barbara Fiant, also survives in Covington.
Mr. Stevenson was a welding engineer at Motoman, West Carrollton. He had worked at General Dynamics, Lima, and Hobart Brothers, Troy. He attended Covington Church of the Brethren. He was a founding member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3998. He was a member of American Legion Post 80, Covington. He was a 1966 graduate of Covington High School.
Survivors also include three sons, Jamey (Christine) Stevenson and Bobby N. Stevenson Jr., both of Covington, and Douglas Prowaunt Jr. of New York; four daughters, Jennifer L. (Rick) Cooper-Litteral of Christiansburg and Heather R. Kiser, Heather L. Thayer and Amber Gail Stevenson, all of Covington; a brother, T. Herbert (Jackie) Stevenson of Chagrin Falls; two sisters, LeaAnn Campbell and Linda Dearth, both of Covington; six grandchildren, Mikel Bridges, Star Cooper, Cody Kiser, Corey Thayer, Hunter Hollis and Kaitlynn Stevenson; and several other relatives and friends.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Covington Church of the Brethren. The Rev. Dan L. Poole will officiate. Burial will be in Miami Memorial Park cemetery, Covington.

Celina
RITA M. TOBIN, 80, died at 12:40 a.m. June 20, 2003, at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater.
She was born March 28, 1923, in Tipton, Ind., to George and Armeilla Roeckner Tobin, who preceded her in death.
Miss Tobin retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., St. Marys, after 33 years. She was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church, Chickasaw, and its Ladies Rosary Altar Sodality. She was a member of West Ohio Ayrshire Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Chickasaw.
Survivors include two brothers, Paul Tobin and Joe (Claire) Tobin, both of Celina; three nephews, Ken (Dorothy) Tobin of Coldwater, Mark (Jill) Tobin of Fort Recovery and Dan Tobin of Celina; and a niece, Carole (Allan) Bilger of White Pigeon, Mich.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at Precious Blood Catholic Church, Chickasaw. The Rev. John Bensman will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
