BESSIE S. REGEDANZ, 88, died the morning of Aug. 31, 2006, at The Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Liberty Township. The Rev. Randall Swanson will officiate. Burial will be in Buck cemetery, Celina.

JONATHAN "A.J." SCHROEDER, 37, died Aug. 31, 2006, from a gunshot wound suffered in the line of duty.
He was born to James and Ginny Byrne Schroeder, who survive. He married
Amy Dominiczak, who survives.
Mr. Schroeder was a detective in the vice unit of the Cleveland Police Department 1st District.
Survivors also include a son, Eric Schroeder; a grandfather, John W. Byrne of Ottoville; four siblings, Jay (Mary) Schroeder, Jeff (Maura) Schroeder, Jan (Jeff Kress) Schroeder and Joel (Jennifer) Schroeder; his mother-in-law, Maryellen Dominiczak; a sister-in-law, Darcy (Don) Weisz; seven nieces and nephews, Michael, Nicholas R., Sara, Nick W., Jakob, Ava and Maddie; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Cleveland. Burial will be Friday in Good Shepherd cemetery, Monroeville, Pa.
Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at A. Ripepi & Sons Funeral Home, Middleburg Heights.

ROSCOE V. "BILL" "SMOKEY" HOWER, 86, of Apache Junction, Ariz., formerly of Spencerville, died June 7, 2006.

VERNA FAYE SLAYDEN, 106, died at 1:15 a.m. Nov. 10, 2006, at VanCrest Health Care Center, Delphos.
She was born Sept. 6, 1900, in Steiner, Texas, to William and Ghaskey Wallace Slayden. In 1923, she married
Robert S. Hall Sr., who died in 1965. On Nov. 7, 1974, she married
Anthony Slayden, who died Oct. 19, 1994.
Mrs. Slayden was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Robert (Peg) Hall, of Lima, and Leon (Betty) Hall, of Elida; a daughter, Virginia (Harold) Pease of Rockwood, Mich.; a stepdaughter, Addalee (John) Brown of Knoxville, Tenn., and Dan (Oma Lee) Slayden of Nashville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Jean (Frank) Vandell, of Meadow Bridge, W.Va., Brenda Storie, of New Hudson, Mich., Robin (Joe) Shay, of Toledo, Mark (Tracy) Hall, of Lima, Gary (Patricia) Hall of Ocoee, Fla., Sharon (Brian) Overholt, of Elida, and Linda (Toby) Jenkins of Elida; and 18 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a stepson, Claude Slayden.
Services will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday at Harter & Schier Funeral Home, Delphos. The Rev. Gary Rode will officiate. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Slayden cemetery, Dickson, Tenn.

Columbus Grove
WILLIS M. MAYBERRY, 81, died at 7:52 a.m. Nov. 9, 2006, at Triumph Hospital, Lima.
He was born March 17, 1925, in Columbus Grove to Alfred and Margie Coleman Mayberry, who preceded him in death. On April 21, 1946, he married
Phyllis P. Grismore, who died Feb. 12, 2003.
Mr. Mayberry worked on the family farm and for F.C. Russell Co., Pandora. He attended Pandora Missionary Church. He was a 50-year member of Rufus Putnam Masonic Lodge 364, Columbus Grove. He attended Columbus Grove High School. He enjoyed working with and repairing small engines. He loved his grandchildren and taking them fishing, attending their 4-H horse shows and teaching them many of his mechanical skills by helping them repair everything from lawn mowers to cars. He was an extraordinary storyteller, entertaining his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He attended social events and loved to go to weekly auctions.
Survivors include a son, Greg (Patricia) Mayberry, of Columbus Grove; five daughters, Paula (David)_Stewart, Grace Stechschulte, Connie (Robert) Collins, Lisa (Dennis) Schroeder and Denise (Alan) Rachesky, all of Columbus Grove; a brother, Theodore (Marijo) Mayberry, of Columbus Grove; two sisters, Margaret (Wade) Augsburger, of Bluffton, and Mary Lou Metzger, of Delphos; two sisters-in-law, Jane Mayberry, of Inverness, Fla., and Edith Tussing, of Pandora; 18 grandchildren, Roy (Tara) Stewart, Sam (Natalie) Stewart, Melanie (Michael) Piercefield, Steve (Loretta) Stechschulte, Quinton Stechschulte, Tony Stechschulte, Elaine (Mike) Kiene, Holly (Brian) Zarse, Natalie (Jason) Jay, Chad (Shari) Metzger, Ryan L. Mayberry, Wyatt L. Mayberry, Joseph L. Schroeder, Amber D. Schroeder, Chelsea O'Connor, Michael O'Connor, Caleb O'Connor and Hayden Rachesky; and three stepgrandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Lloyd, Elmer, Cloyce, George and Alton Mayberry; and two sisters, Freda Blake and Elsie Core.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Pastor J. Randy Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Truro cemetery, Columbus Grove.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where a Masonic service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Leipsic
SISTER GERTRUDE MORMAN, 83, of Tiffin, formerly of Leipsic, died at 12:12 p.m. Nov. 8, 2006, at St. Francis Convent infirmary.
She was born May 8, 1923, in Leipsic to Joseph and Gertrude Schmenk Morman, who preceded her in death.
Sister Gertrude served as a housekeeper and organist at Frenchtown, Blakeslee, North Auburn, Reed, New Washington, Bucyrus, Millersville, Peru and St. Michael's Ridge. She was a licensed practical nurse at St. Francis Home in Tiffin and Monroe, Mich., and a receptionist in Tiffin. At the time of her death, she was minister of prayer and service for the congregation. She was a spiritual dynamo in the Tiffin area, where she had many friends. She will always be remembered as a fun-loving person, ready with jokes and humorous tales to tell everyone.
Survivors include two brothers, Joseph Morman, of Marion, and Vincent Morman, of Mansfield.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Mae Recker, and Sister Anita, Sister Jovita Morman and Sister Damien; and four brothers, Adolph Morman and the Revs. Edmund, Richard and Wilbert Morman.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin. Burial will be in St. Francis Convent cemetery, Tiffin.
Friends may call one hour prior to services today at the church.

New Bremen
ROBERT P. BAY, 75, died the morning of Nov. 9, 2006, at his residence.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in German Protestant cemetery, New Bremen.

WORTHY ROBERT SLAYTON Sr., 64, died at 11:41 a.m. Nov. 8, 2006, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
He was born April 30, 1942, in Hosett, W.Va., to Clyde Mitchell and Bonnie Mae Slayton, who preceded him in death. On June 5, 1980, he married
Grace Livermore, who survives in Lima.
Mr. Slayton had been a maintenance man for the Marion County Children's Home. He was a member of Full Gospel Temple of Love.
Survivors also include seven daughters, Libby (Rodney Williams) McKean, of Delaware, Ohio, Betty (Dean Dunlat) Downing, of Lima, Jennifer (Scott) Elkins, of Delaware, Ohio, Tabatha (Eugene) Perreault, of Vaughnsville, Candy (Odilon) Montano, of Lima, Chastity (Ahmed Keita) Slayton, of Columbus, and Julia (Anthony Talbert) Slayton, of Lima; a brother, Don (Chris) Curtis of Portsmouth; and 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Worthy Robert Slayton Jr.; and a grandson, Isaiah Slayton.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. today at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Gladys Lawrence will officiate. Burial will be in Grand Prairie cemetery, Marion.
