Lima
HAROLD E. "DUTCH" LAUER, DDS, 84, died April 2, 2004, in Richmond, Va.
He was born Aug. 17, 1919, in Delaware County, Ohio, to Herbert A. and Cloa Lehner Lauer, who preceded him in death. He married
Ann R. Lauer, who survives.
Dr. Lauer was the first orthodontist in Lima, where he practiced until his retirement in 1989. He was an active member of many professional, alumni and community organizations, including St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275, and the Lima Rotary Club. He graduated from Waldo High School, Waldo, in 1937, and from The Ohio State University School of Pharmacy in 1941. He was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army and served with the 17th Field Artillery during World War II. He fought in Sicily, North Africa and Europe and served with the Army of Occupation in Germany, attaining the rank of major. He was awarded the Bronze Star for valor during the Battle of el Guettar. After the war, he graduated from Ohio State's School of Dentistry in 1950 and The Graduate School of Orthodontics in 1951. He was an avid fisherman, sportsman and gardener, with a partiality for roses.
Survivors also include three sons, Andrew (Diane) Lauer, John Lauer and Herbert (Karlyn) Lauer, all of Lima; a daughter, Annette (Philip) Lang of Noblesville, Ind.; two stepdaughters, Trish Nunley and Julie Nunley, both of Richmond, Va.; a sister, Lucile Carey of Marion; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Bernard Lauer, M.D., of Marion.
A memorial service will begin at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church. The Rev. Arthur Wilde will officiate. Inurnment will be at 3 p.m. June 9, 2004, at Arlington National cemetery, with full military honors.
Friends may call one hour prior to the memorial service at the church Saturday, and one hour after the service at the Elks Club.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District, 2355 Ada Road, Lima, OH 458
Elida
KERMIT C. MAY, 66, died at 12:03 p.m. April 9, 2004, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Christopher Page will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Grove cemetery, Delphos.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where arrangements are incomplete.

BETTY PARCH McBRIDE, 90, died April 9, 2004, in Akron.

Lima
MARCIA A. MYERS, 71, of Bakersfield, Calif., formerly of Lima, died April 2, 2004, in California.
She was born Oct. 22, 1932. She married
James "Jim" Myers, who survives.
Mrs. Myers lived most of her life in Lima and had recently moved to California with her husband to be closer to most of their children. She'll be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know her.
Survivors also include five children, Lezlie Combs, Kevin Myers, Tracy Aspinall, Jennifer Tolbert and Sean Myers; five grandchildren, Aja, Ian, Amanda, Chandra and Michelle; a brother, Mike; two nephews, Michael and Jousha; and three cousins, Patty, Margie and David.
There will be no services or visitation.

Cloverdale
EDWIN M. POTTHOFF, 91, died at 8:30 a.m. April 10, 2004, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 26, 1913, in Cloverdale to Theodore and Margaret Krieger Potthoff, who preceded him in death. On Nov. 18, 1943, he married
Virginia Schulte, who survives in Cloverdale.
Mr. Potthoff retired in 1978 as electronics maintenance supervisor with GTE Sylvania, Ottawa. He was a member of St. Barbara Catholic Church, Cloverdale, and its Holy Name Society. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving in the 557 Air Service on Ryukuku Island and IE Island in the South Pacific. He was a former mayor and councilman for the village of Cloverdale for many years. He was a member of Catholic Knights of Ohio, American Legion Post 541, Continental, and Quarter Century Club.
Survivors also include three sons, Martin (Sue) Potthoff of Lima, Mark (Marilyn) Potthoff of Glandorf, and John (Jill) Potthoff of Leipsic; two daughters, Carol (Ed) Mansfield of Lima, and Marge (Mike) Kosch of Continental; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Marcille Potthoff of Norwood, and Marie Potthoff of Cridersville.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Henry Potthoff.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Barbara Catholic Church, Cloverdale. Father Robert Kill will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with military rites by American Legion Post 541, Continental.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Love Funeral Home, Ottawa, where a Scripture service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Barbara Catholic Church.
Lima
MEMPHIS JAEGGAR RAINES SCHROEDER was stillborn at 10:53 p.m. April 8, 2004, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
His parents, Stuart and Candi Knouse Schroeder, survive in Lima.
Survivors also include two brothers, Aeustyn Schroeder and Tristan Schroeder, both at home; a sister, Monica Schroeder, at home; paternal grandparents, Michael and Sue Schroeder of Findlay and Pamela and Larry Emans of Columbus Grove; maternal grandparents, Stuart and Clara Ann Knouse of Findlay; paternal great-grandparents, George and Ruth Schroeder of Ottawa and Karl and Rose Hoffman of Columbus Grove; and maternal great-grandmother, Emily Lambert of Patriot.
He was preceded in death by great-grandparents, Leonard and Georgeina Knouse and Clinton Lambert; and an uncle, Vernon Knouse.
Graveside services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday in SS. Peter and Paul cemetery, Ottawa. Father Tim Knepper will officiate.
Friends may call one hour prior to services Monday at Love Funeral Home, Ottawa.

Lima
SHIRLEY E. ADAMS, 90, died at 6:44 a.m. Aug. 14, 2004, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
She was born March 9, 1914, in Rockford to Samuel and Olive Tallman Shaffer, who preceded her in death. On Sept. 9, 1935, she married
Robert F. Adams, who died in 1973.
Mrs. Adams worked as a beautician at her own shop. She was a member of Shawnee United Methodist Church. She was a 1932 graduate of Rockford High School and a 1933 graduate of Fredericks Beauty Academy, Lima. She was a licensed beautician owning her own shop. From 1947 to 1960, helped her husband build 16 homes in Shawnee Township. She volunteered at United Methodist Church bazaars and with the Red Cross. She was a member of the Herb and Craft clubs. She enjoyed family, traveling and working in her flower garden.
Survivors include a daughter, Emily (Mickey) Miller of Lima; three granddaughters, Apryl (Tony) Burtchin of Bellefontaine, and Natalie Cannon and Lori Faccenda, both of Lima; a grandson, Mark Adams Miller of Lima; a granddaughter, Kathy (Randy) Chapman-Egolf of Powell; eight great-grandchildren, Erika, Vanessa, Adam, Tiffany, Tatum, Cameron, Nicholas and Alexis; and two great-great-grandchildren, Mackenlie and Skye.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Chapman; a son-in-law, David M. Chapman; three brothers; and four sisters.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Rev. Bryan Bucher will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery, Rockford.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

ANNA LOUISE RISNER BOWEN, 76, died at 11:15 a.m. Aug. 13, 2004, at her daughter's residence.
She was born Dec. 25, 1927, in Salyersville, Ky., to James and Laura Haney Risner, who preceded her in death. In 1968 she married
Lewis H. Bowen, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include her children, Lou-Ann (Ted) Gumm of Harrod, Marilyn Carter and Barb Cartel, both of Houston, Texas, June Ann Forte of Lima, and Anthony D. Edens, David Edens, and Everett Edens Jr., all of Houston, Texas; a sister, Evelyn Simons of Walbridge; two brothers, Parker Risner of Lima and Emzy Risner of Prestonsburg, Ky.; and 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Edward, Richard, Benny and Cash Risner; and two sisters, Liddia Risner and Elizabeth Bowen.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Siferd Funeral Home, Westwood Chapel. Pastor Russell F. Gumm will officiate. Burial will be in Vaughnsville cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
