DEACON CARL WENDELL SELDEN, 73, died at 6:16 p.m. Dec. 13, 2006, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 29, 1932, in Lima to Calvin Walton and Flossie Wilson Selden, who preceded him in death. On Aug. 23, 1969, he married
Eula Vee Hawkins, who survives in Lima.
Mr. Selden retired as a material handler at Ford Motor Co. He was a member of Mount Olivet Church of God in Christ where he was a member of the Deacon Board. He was a member of United Auto Workers union Local 1219 and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He loved attending state and county fairs and going to car shows.
Survivors include a son, Byron O. (Stella) Selden, of Lima; four sisters, Margaret Payne, of Tiffin, Betty Allen, of Corona, Calif., Barbara Scott, of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Lela (Joseph) Purdie, of Tucson, Ariz.; and two grandchildren, Michael (Lisa) and Brittney.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Selden.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cornerstone Harvest Church. The Rev. David Roberts will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Jones-Clark Funeral Home, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.
Celina
TERESA ANN SHANER, 45, died at 10:40 a.m. Dec. 15, 2006, at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
Services will begin at 2:30 p.m. today at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Mendon. The Rev. Bruce Head will officiate. Burial will be in Mendon cemetery.
There will be no visitation.

CHARLES R. "DUTCH" SNIDER, 89, died at 9:40 a.m. Dec. 16, 2006, at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home.
He was born Dec. 31, 1916, in Lima to Oscar Marion and Nellie Butler Snider, who preceded him in death. On Feb. 5, 1938, he married
Mildred Eloise Parshall, who preceded him in death on Oct. 1, 1998.
Mr. Snider retired from Westinghouse Electric after 44 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include three sons, Teddy D. (Melody) Snider, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Tommy R. (Sharon) Snider, of Lima, and Johnny J. Snider, of Elida; a daughter-in-law, Tonya "T.J." Snider, of Cridersville; five brothers, Donald "Bud" Snider, of Wapakoneta, Doyle V. (Betty) Snider, of Lima, Jerry L. (Pat) Snider, of Toledo, Danny R. (Mary) Snider, of Wapakoneta, and Barry J. Snider of Beaverdam; three sisters, Mary Jean Metz, of Wapakoneta, Helen L. Spyker, of Lubbock, Texas, and Peggy L. Satterfield, of Wapakoneta; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, David C. Snider; a brother, Oscar Junior Snider; and a grandson, Michael W. Snider.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home. Pastor Mark Vernik will officiate. Burial will follow at Fairmount cemetery near Uniopolis.

NATHAN CURTIS TUTTLE, 21, of Batesville, Ind., died Dec. 12, 2006, at Hill Air Force Base in Salt Lake City.

THOMAS L. "TOM" WIETER, 78, of Spencerville, died at 4:10 p.m. at Roselawn Manor Nursing Home in Spencerville where he has lived since May 3, 2005.
He was born Nov. 20, 1928, in St. Marys to Charles F. and Emma Hager Wieter, who preceded him in death. On March 17, 1951, he married
Donna Jean Smith, who died Aug. 2, 1974.
He was a retired truck driver and enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, fishing, and the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tenn. After his wife's death, he began "Tom Wieter's Kids Day" in Spencerville, which was held the first Saturday of June each year in Spencer Township Park. It ran from 1975 to 2005.
Survivors include three sons, Leon (Sherry) Wieter, of Spencerville, Kerry "Beanie" (Susan) Wieter, of Landeck, and Lawrence Wapplehorst, of Cygnet; three daughters, Penny (Ed) Wilgus, of Lima, Wendy (Scott) Whittington, of Milan, Ind., and Twyala Nuttle, of Spencerville; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Littlefield, of Chicago.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Marjorie Miller and Dorothy Bell Kurtz; and a brother, Norval Wieter.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville. Pastor Tom Shobe will officiate. Burial will follow in the Spencerville cemetery.

MADELINE ZEITS, 90, died at 3:35 p.m. Dec. 12, 2006, at Richland Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Oct. 15, 1916, in Bluffton to Ephrain and Jennie Painter Geiger, who preceded him in death. On June 11, 1938, she married
William K. Zeits, who died May 16, 1984.
Mrs. Zeits was a homemaker. She enjoyed spending winters in Florida, fishing and playing cards.
Survivors include eight nephews, Williard Downing, of Findlay, Michael Baumgartner, of Columbus Grove, Bernard Baumgartner, of Pandora, Kenneth Horner, of Toledo, Donivan Simon, of Ada, Gary Simon, of Ada, Bob Harris, of Florida, and Larry Zickafoose, of Dunkirk; eight nieces, Frances Adams, of Ottawa, Vera Owen, of Marysville, Karen Bronson, of Celina, Diane Snay, of Columbus Grove, Sandra Poland, of Arizona, Janet Fahl, of Findlay, Margo Bayers, of Utah, and Georgia Lena Peters, of Columbus Grove, S.C.; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Francis Geiger; six sisters, Metta Downing, Carrie Horner, Viola Baumgartner, Margaret Carmean, Florence Garlish, and Dorothy Simond; two half brothers, George and Harry Cone; a half sister, Luella Grace Tenney; three nephews, Richard Cherry, Ronald Baumgartner and Fred Horner; and two nieces, Ethel Moser and Virginia Grager.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rockport cemetery. There will be a graveside committal of ashes. Pastor Michael Downey will officiate.
There will be no visitation.

DURELL WILLIAM "BEAVER" "MAX" BLANK, 44, of Scottsdale, Ariz., formerly of Lima, died at 5:30 a.m. April 16, 2007, at Stanford Medical Center, Stanford, Calif., where he was awaiting a double-lung transplant for the cystic fibrosis that he suffered from since birth.
He was born March 23, 1963, in Lima to William O. Blank and Mary Cheney Elmquist, who both survive in Lima. On July 4, 1997, he married
Julie Chesser of Louisville, Ky., who survives in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Mr. Blank owned Stonervisions Inc., Scottsdale, Ariz., a consulting company specializing in IT solutions. He had also worked as an infrastructure manager at Chiquita International Brands, Cincinnati. He was a 1981 graduate of Elida High School. He received his bachelor's degree in industrial engineering in 1986 and his master's in business administration in 1992, both from the University of Cincinnati.
He was an inspiration to all who knew and loved him. He had a beautiful appreciation of life and approached his many challenges with courage, determination and unfailing hope for the other side with his new lungs. His legacy is his wife, sons, family and friends who gained strength from his courage. One of his fervent hopes was that he could influence everyone to be an organ donor and save lives. He fought the good fight to the end and never gave up hope for a healthy future.
He was an avid basketball fan and loved the UC Bearcats, as well as enjoying skiing, hiking, gardening, photography and traveling before his health declined. He loved a glass of wine and an espresso with good conversation with his friends and family, who have been a joy in his life.
Survivors also include twin sons, Mason James Blank and Connor Cheney Blank, both at home; a sister, Debra (Bill) Kidwell, of Phoenix; a half sister, Nichole (Chad) Jablonsky, of Kettering; a half brother, Michael (Nikki) Blank, of Plain City; four stepbrothers, Brad (Peggy) Elmquist, of Lima, Mark Elmquist, of Charlotte, N.C., Mark Biddle, of Virginia Beach, Va., and Tony (Bridget) Biddle, of San Diego; two stepsisters, Leisa Biddle of San Diego, and Kelly Frese, of Lima; his father- and mother-in-law, Marvin (Linda) Chesser and Sue (Larry) Simpson, both of Louisville, Ky.; a sister-in-law, Shannon (Kevin Wade) Chesser, of Louisville, Ky.; three uncles, Dr. Dan (Joyce) Cheney, of Bellingham, Wash., John (Elaine) Cheney, of North Baltimore, and Ed (Karen) Elmquist, of Lima; three aunts, Barbara (Paul) Binkley, of Spencerville, and Alice White and Norene Parish, both of Lima; and nine nieces and four nephews.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Norman C. Elmquist; maternal grandparents, Guy and Bertha Cheney; and paternal grandparents, Minor and Mary Blank.
Memorial services will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church, Lima. Pastor David Harris will officiate.
Friends may call from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church.
