LILLIAN GERTRUDE MILLER, 89, died at 8:55 a.m. Sept. 28, 2003, at her residence.
She was born Nov. 7, 1913, in Wytheville, Va., to William J. and Allie G. Copenhaver Leedy, who preceded her in death. On Aug. 3, 1946, she married
Calvin C. Miller, who died April 9, 1980.
Mrs. Miller was a retired registered nurse and supervisor at Lima Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Central Christian Church and was an associate member of Lima Memorial Hospital Alumnae Association. She was a volunteer and member of the Lima Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and Central Christian Womens Fellowship. She was a graduate of Portsmouth School of Nursing. She was in the Army Air Nurse Corp. during World War II.
Survivors include two brothers, Issac Leedy of Jackson and Neal Leedy of Chilicothe; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Chiles & Sons-Laman Funeral Homes, Lewis Chapel. The Rev. Mark Tisch will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Leipsic
JAMES V. PECK, 60, died the afternoon of Sept. 27, 2003, in a truck-train accident in Leipsic.
He was born Jan. 4, 1943, in Culver, Ind., to Vincent and Gertrude Barlage Peck. His mother, Gertrude Crawford, survives in Leipsic. On April 4, 1964, he married
Sharon Schoenauer, who survives in Leipsic.
Mr. Peck was the owner of Paul Crawford Excavating, where he worked for 45 years. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Leipsic. He was a social member of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Leipsic. He was a member of Ottawa Knights of Columbus and Leipsic Eagles.
Survivors also include a son, Tony (Pam) Peck of Leipsic; two daughters, Melissa (Tobin) Renner of Columbus Grove and Carla Peck of Leipsic; two brothers, Ronald Peck of Leipsic and LeRoy Peck of Oakland, Calif.; two sisters, Virginia (John) Dixon of Palos Verdes, Calif., and Kathleen (Michael) Dykstra of Elko, Nev.; two step-brothers, Allen "Jay" Crawford of Belleville, Mich., and Thomas (Marci) Crawford of Salt Lake City; a step-sister, Diana (Charles) Trautwein of Findlay; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a stepfather, Paul Crawford Sr.; and a step-brother, Paul Crawford Jr.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church. The Rev. George Wenzinger will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Love Funeral Home, Leipsic, where a K of C and parish rosary service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Kalida
CLORICE R. REED, 74, died at 8 p.m. Sept. 27, 2003, at Calvary Manor Nursing Home, Glandorf.
Services will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Love Funeral Home, Ottawa. The Rev. Daniel Huther will officiate. Burial will be in Pomeroy cemetery, Ottawa.

Celina
JOHN L. SMITH, 79, died at 12:57 p.m. Sept. 27, 2003, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 5, 1924, in Wabash to Alfred and Mabel Louise McDonald Smith, who preceded him in death. He married
Sondra Mihm, who survives.
Mr. Smith retired in 1986 from Spring Creek Concrete. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5713, Celina. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater.
Survivors also include two sons, David Smith and Jim (Robin) Smith, both of Celina; a daughter, Melanie (Mike) Kerns of Findlay; a brother, Bobby (Thelma) Smith of Celina; a sister, Carol (Jerry) Humbert of Troy; a brother-in-law, Jack Wade of Largo, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Mariannis Smith of Celina; and four grandchildren, Eric Kerns, Rachel Kerns, Jacob Smith and Riley Smith.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Donald Smith; and two sisters, Joan Pierce and Betty Wade.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina. The Rev. Robert Metheny Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Swamp College cemetery, Celina, with military rites by the Celina V.F.W.

MARGARET ELIZABETH "BETTE" YARGER, 77, died at 3:15 a.m. Feb. 14, 2004, at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home.
She was born May 19, 1926, in Delphos to Robert Merle and Mary Marguerite Yentz Thatcher, who preceded her in death. On Nov. 17, 1946, she married
Dwight E. Yarger, who survives.
Mrs. Yarger was a secretary at Horace Mann and the education center of Lima City Schools. She retired in 1994 after 30 years of service. She was a member of Westside United Methodist Church and a 1944 graduate of Blume High School, Wapakoneta.
Survivors also include two sons, Robert W. (Susan) Yarger of Arlington, Texas, and Don (Mary Pat) Yarger of Cincinnati; four grandchildren, Robert (Nicole) Yarger Jr. and Richard Yarger, both of Arlington, Texas, and David Powell and Jeff Powell, both of Cincinnati.
Services will begin at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Chiles & Sons-Laman Funeral Home, Shawnee Chapel. The Rev. Mary Kay Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.

RICHARD L. KIDWELL, formerly of Dayton, died Feb. 15, 2004, in Celina.

Bluffton
RICHARD "RICKY" C. MATTER Jr., 15, died Feb. 14, 2004.
He was born July 19, 1988, in Bluffton to Rick and Sherri Welch Matter, who survive in Bluffton.
Ricky was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bluffton. He was a freshman at Bluffton High School and a member of the Latin and Math clubs. He was a varsity football and basketball player and an honor student with a 4.0 grade-point-average who excelled in the classroom.
Survivors also include paternal grandparents, R. Wayne and Janet Matter of Bluffton; maternal grandparents, Bob and Marilyn Welch of Beaverdam; a sister, Caity Matter of Columbus; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Bluffton High School gymnasium. Father Norbert Howe will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery, Bluffton.
Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today at the gymnasium.

ZELA BELLE SHENK, 89, died at her residence.

Lima
HAROLD C. COCHENSPARGER, 86, died at 5:58 a.m. Feb. 15, 2004, at Lost Creek Care Center, Lima.
He was born Aug. 18, 1917, in Allen County to Harold C. and Pearl A. DeWeese Cochensparger Sr., who preceded him in death. On Oct. 9, 1954, he married
Alta L. Miller, who survives in Lima.
Mr. Cochensparger was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Lima, and an active member of its Sunday school class. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275 and a member of the post's military funeral detail for several years. He sang in the Lima Bean Barbershop Chorus and Quartet for 22 years and was a member of Friends of the Library, Lima. He was a 1935 graduate of Elida High School.
Survivors also include a son, Robert L. Cochensparger of Lima; two grandsons, Michael (Jamie) Cochensparger and Darren Cochensparger, both of Lima; a great-granddaughter, Emily Marie Cochensparger of Lima; a sister, Ruth (Robert) Frysinger of Westerville; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada. The Rev. Arthur Wilde will officiate. Burial will be in Lafayette cemetery, Lafayette, with military rites by VFW Post 1275.
Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and until time of services Thursday at the funeral home.
