Lima
THE REV. STEPHEN HAYNES, 71, of Baltimore, formerly of Lima, died Jan. 3, 2003, in Baltimore.
He was born Oct. 27, 1931, in Bellefontaine to Harry and Eve Shaw Haynes, who preceded him death.
The Rev. Haynes was serving at Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Baltimore and had been an associate pastor at St. Gerard Parish, Lima, from 1993 to 2000. He joined the Redemptorist order in September 1984 and was ordained to the Catholic priesthood in May 1988. He is remembered for his kindness, especially to the sick. While on oxygen, he continued to visit the hospitals and nursing homes.
A Memorial Mass will begin at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Gerard Parish, Lima.
Lima
SARAH HAMPTON HUNT, 56, of Columbus, formerly of Lima, died at 2 a.m. Jan. 5, 2003, at her father's residence.
She was born July 23, 1946, in Lima to James L. and Virginia Williams Hunt. Her father survives in Lima.
Miss Hunt was a receptionist for Pilot Dog's Inc., Columbus. She had also been a teacher in Columbus public schools for several years and ran the concession snack bar at City Hall, Columbus, 14 years. She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, Lima, where she was active in the choir. She was a member of the Mayor's Commission for the Disabled in Columbus. She was a graduate of Lima Senior High School and received her bachelor's degree in English from Wittenberg University, where she sang in the concert choir. She attended Ohio Northern University and received her master's degree in English from Miami of Ohio University.
Survivors also include two sisters, Ruth E. Hunt (George) Gienger of Lima and Amy Hunt (Scott) Riffle of Cincinnati.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Luke Lutheran Church. The Revs. Arthur Wilde and Wesley T. Runk will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery.

Lima
M. THELMA DETRICK SLANE LINET, 84, died at 9:02 p.m. Jan. 4, 2003, at Beverly Health Care Center.
She was born June 23, 1918, in DeGraff to George W. and Hazel M. Hinkle Oder, who preceded her in death. On March 28, 1937, she married
J. Wilbur Detrick, who died May 20, 1965. On April 8, 1969, she married
William Robert "Bill" Slane, who died April 1, 1975. On May 19, 2000, in Bellefontaine, she married
Kenneth G. "Pat" Linet, who survives in Lima.
Mrs. Linet was a licensed practical nurse working at Lutheran Senior City, Columbus, for 18 years. She was a member of Stony Creek Church of the Brethren, where she taught Sunday school. She was a 1936 graduate of DeGraff High School and a 1968 graduate of Springfield School of Nursing.
Survivors also include three sons, Robert G. (Janet) Detrick of DeGraff, William D. (Dixie) Detrick of Bellefontaine and James W. (Deborah) Detrick of Columbus; four stepsons, Patrick M. Linet of North Canton, Dale R. Linet of Shelbyville, Ky., Dennis A. Linet of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., and Scott O. Linet of Lima; a stepdaughter, Lynda Beatty of Findlay; seven grandchildren, Karen (Michael) Walters, Cheryl (Curtis) Brandt, Marilyn (Eric) Esh, David Detrick, Bonnie Evans, Andrew Detrick and Marshall Detrick; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Clifford Oder.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, DeGraff. The Rev. John Glasscock will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood-Union cemetery, DeGraff.

ADA OZELLA MARTIN, 88, died at 3:15 p.m. Jan. 4, 2003, at Lima Memorial Hospital.
She was born March 4, 1914, in Middlesboro, Ky., to Hillery and Mollie Partin Mason, who preceded her in death. On July 24, 1933, in Kentucky, she married
Tony Martin, who died in 1998.
Mrs. Martin was a cosmetologist, owning a beauty shop in Buckland for several years and working at several shops in Lima. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she was a member of the quartet The Gospelettes for several years, was a youth director, Sunday school teacher and played the piano. She enjoyed golfing and bowling.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald K. (Jewell) Martin Sr. of Lima and Terry D. (Janet) Martin of Vickery; a daughter, Arleen (Robert) Jones of Tucson, Ariz.; two brothers, Neal Mason of Florida and Larry (Kathy) Mason of Lima; six sisters, Joyce (Richard) Johnson and Ora Lee (Urbanus) Crites, both of Elida, Lauretta (Cecil) Evans of Florida, June (Levoy) Evans of Kentucky, Elizabeth Ackerman of Lima and Edna Sampson of Bluffton; seven grandchildren, Pamela Tornquist, James Queen, Tony Queen, Ronald Martin Jr., Jill McCoy, Cory Martin and Carrie Martin; 15 great-grandchildren, Andrew Tornquist, Brian Tornquist, Chris Queen, Sara Queen, Tabatha Queen, Ronald Martin III, Shannon O'Neal, Jeremy Martin, Kelsie Martin, John Brogan, Jewelie Brogan, Shannon McCoy, Stevie McCoy, Nikki McCoy and Tracey McCoy; a great-great-grandchild, Destiny O'Neal.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Velma Queen; three brothers, Leonard F., Willard and Hillery Mason Jr.; and two sisters, Edith Cawood and Helen Mason.
Services will begin at 10 p.m. Wednesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Revs. Terry Brock and Bryan Day will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery.

GARY MICHAEL "MIKE" McKITRICK, 64, died at 11 a.m. Jan. 5, 2003, at his residence.

RUBY ROWE, 73, died at 3 p.m. Jan. 5, 2003, at Select Specialty Hospital, Columbus.

Lima
MARJORIE M. THORMAN SKOLOS, 81, of Milwaukee, formerly of Lima, died Jan. 4. 2003, in Wisconsin.
She married
Orvis H. Skolos, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Skolos had been a music teacher in Lima for several years. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Milwaukee, where she had been the organist for 20 years. She had also taught piano lessons and volunteered as a docent for the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy (Thomas Wedell) Skolos, and several nephews, nieces, other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Richard Thorman; and two sisters-in-law, Helen and Delphine Thorman.
Memorial services will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Milwaukee.
Friends may call from 5:30 p.m. until time of services Thursday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.

Lima
ROBERT L. STAVER, 79, of Waverly, formerly of Lima, died Jan. 5, 2003, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 8, 1923, in Lima to Ray H. and Pearl Z. Driver Staver, who preceded him in death. On Sept. 5, 1944, he married
Carol J. Kortier, who died Sept. 25, 1995.
Mr. Staver retired in 1988 as a truck driver for Standard Oil Refinery, after 30 years. He had been a member of First Evangelical and Reformed Church, Lima, where he served as a deacon. He was a member of Orchard Hills, Chillicothe. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He loved gardening and working with wood.
Survivors include two daughters, Joan K. (Walt) Knuepfer of Silt, Colo., and Karen S. (David) Gaines of Anchorage, Alaska; two brothers, Donald Staver and Ronald Staver, both of Lima; a sister, Edith Creps of Lima; and five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James Staver; and a sister, Vivian Reeder.
Graveside services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday in Memorial Park cemetery. The Rev. Larry Mirack will officiate.
