Bluffton
VERL D. REICHENBACH, 82, died at 5:45 a.m. Dec. 31, 2002, at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.
He was born Feb. 8, 1920, in Pandora to Hiram and Edna Zimmerman Reichenbach, who preceded him in death. On June 6, 1940, he married
Leona M. Motter, who survives.
Mr. Reichenbach was founder and owner of Triem Inc., Carrboro, N.C. He retired in 1976 when Triem merged with Ametek. He was instrumental in organizing the Small Motors Manufacturers Association and was later elected to its Hall of Fame. After retirement he was active in the International Executive Service Corp serving in several countries and was a field associate for 15 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Bluffton. He was a member of Sager Masonic Lodge, Lafayette. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors also include a son, Larry (Judy) Reichenbach of Bluffton; a daughter, Carole Tibbs of Dothan, Ala.; a brother, Paul Reichenbach of Bluffton; a sister, Marcele (Eugene) Kohli of Columbus; and five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Reichenbach; and a sister, Esther Reichenbach.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Chiles & Sons-Laman Funeral Homes, Bluffton Chapel. The Rev. Dee Wentz and William Herr will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery, Bluffton.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where a Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Pandora
WALTER S. SCOLES, 75, died Dec. 28, 2002, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 10, 1927, in Hancock County to Luke and Sylvia Mae Wilkins Scoles, who preceded him in death. He married
Freda Thomas, who preceded him in death. On July 26, 1968, he married
Nina Lara, who survives.
Mr. Scoles was a farmer. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association and American Legion Post 616, Pandora. He was a member of Tri-State Gun Collectors. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include two sons, Benjamin Scoles of Burkeville, Va., and Nathan (Melissa) Scoles of Leipsic; two stepsons, Andrew (Kay) Salazar of Nashville, Tenn., and Michael (Jennifer) Salazar of Pandora; a daughter, Shirley (Danny) Ballinger of Pandora; and five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Terry Scoles.
Services will begin at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Chiles & Sons-Laman Funeral Homes, Bluffton Chapel. The Rev. Rosie Perez will officiate. Burial will be in Clymer cemetery, near Mount Cory, with military rites by American Legion Post 616.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Continental
JERALD L. WAGNER, 83, died at 11:50 p.m. Dec. 30, 2002, at SCCI Hospital, Lima.
He was born Sept. 26, 1919, in Defiance County to David and Mary Kilpatrick Wagner, who preceded him in death. On June 12, 1947, he married
Evelyn Fisher, who died July 24, 1995.
Mr. Wagner retired as a milk hauler and as a janitor at Continental school. He was a member of American Legion Post 541, Continental, and the Teamsters. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include two sons, Fred Wagner and Dale Wagner, both of Continental; a daughter, Carol Wagner Smith of Continental; three brothers, Bernard Wagner and Robert Wagner, both of Defiance, and Lauren Wagner of Continental; a sister, Marjorie Fuller of Continental; and five grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, a great-grandchild and nine stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Wagner; two sisters, Edith Henderson and Clara Etter; and a stepgreat-grandson.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Continental. The Rev. Terry Porter will officiate. Burial will be in North Mount Zion cemetery, Continental, with military rites by American Legion Post 541.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. until time of services Friday at the funeral home.

Bluffton
M. EVELYN BENROTH, 88, died at 5:35 p.m. Feb. 9, 2003, at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.
She was born Nov. 22, 1914, in Orange Township, Hancock County, to Ross and Arah Ewing Triplehorn, who preceded her in death. On Oct. 8, 1938, she married
Walter M. Benroth, who died May 13, 1980.
Mrs. Benroth retired from Triplett Corp., Bluffton, after 28 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Bluffton, and its women's group. She was a member of Bluffton Senior Citizens. She was a volunteer at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Bluffton.
Survivors include two sisters, Eileen Mericle of Bluffton and Dorothy Romick of Findlay; and several nephews and nieces, which includes Butch Amstutz of Bluffton, who was her caregiver.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Russel, Dale, Myron and Gerald Triplehorn.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Chiles & Sons-Laman Funeral Homes, Bluffton Chapel. The Rev. Dee Wentz will officiate. Burial will be in Cannonsberg cemetery, near Mount Cory.

Oakwood
JEAN M. BREWER, 80, died at 6:25 a.m. Feb. 11, 2003, at her residence.
She was born Aug. 27, 1922, in Bismarck, S.D., to Joseph and Lillian Bruton McNally, who preceded her in death. On July 27, 1946, she married
Richard Brewer Sr., who survives in Oakwood.
Mrs. Brewer was a homemaker. She was a member of Melrose United Methodist Church, Melrose.
Survivors also include two sons, Daniel Brewer of Paulding and Richard Brewer Jr. of Defiance; six daughters, Margaret "Peg" (Jack) Schlosser of Uniopolis, Kathleen (Walter) Clark of Paulding, DiAnn Pratt of Ocala, Fla., Nancy (James) Weisenburger of Oakwood, Barbara (Barry) Brown of Melrose, Marsha (William) Bledsoe of St. Joe, Ind.; 24 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Melrose United Methodist Church, Melrose. The Rev. Robert Parker will officiate. Burial will be in Little Auglaize cemetery, Melrose.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Oakwood, and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.

Lima
ANNIE L. BURDEN, 78, died at 5:55 p.m. Feb. 9, 2003, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
She was born March 24, 1924, to Nora Bennett, who preceded her in death. On Oct. 28, 1977, she married
Leonard R. Burden, who died March 14, 1997.
Mrs. Burden was a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Nora Hall of Lima; and a grandchild and a great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Vincey Hall.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at Jones-Clark Funeral Home. The Rev. H. Frank Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery.

Van Wert
MARTHA B. BURNETT, 83, died at 9:15 a.m. Feb. 11, 2003, at her daughter's residence.
She was born Dec. 11, 1919, in Convoy to Joseph and Carrie Pyle Horine, who preceded her in death. On Jan. 31, 1948, she married
Mathew Max Burnett, who died Jan. 6, 1999.
Mrs. Burnett retired in 1982 from Kennedy Kit Manufacturing, Van Wert. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Van Wert, and its women's circle. She was a member of the Kennedy Kit Retired Ladies Club.
Survivors include a son, Ronald M. (Joyce) Burnett of Lima; a daughter, Julie A. (Robert) Gamble of Van Wert; two sisters, Mary (Wayne) Compton and Ruth Horine, both of Van Wert; four sisters-in-law, Rose Ann Horine, Ruth Mosier and Freda (Dr. Fred) Culler, all of Van Wert, and Alice Burnett of St. Marys; six grandchildren, Jennifer Gamble, Rob Gamble, Jill Gamble, Sarah Burnett, Katie Worstein and Eve Burnett; and two great-grandchildren, Isaac Perez and Olivia Perez.
She was preceded in death by a brother, David Horine; and a sister, Edna Phillips.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert. The Rev. Dr. James C. Dunaway will officiate. Burial will be in Wright cemetery, Converse.
