Lima
DOROTHY M. "TESS" BOWLER, 84, died at 11 a.m. April 12, 2004, at Lima Convalescent Home.
She was born Oct. 18, 1919, in Lima to Adam G. and Florence Anna Hoffmeister Stelzer, who preceded her in death. Her husband of 33 years, John Bowler, died June 2, 1975.
Mrs. Bowler was a homemaker. She had worked at Westinghouse Corp. for several years and at the Allen County Council on Aging. She was one of the founding members of the St. Charles PTA and had served as president of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 54 Auxiliary. She was a 1937 graduate of Lima Central High School.
Survivors include a son, John Bowler of Hermosa Beach, Calif.; a granddaughter, Jennifer Bowler of Hermosa Beach, Calif.; and a daughter, Jan Bowler of Redondo Beach, Calif.
A Memorial Mass will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Charles Catholic Church. Burial will be in Gethsemani cemetery. A wake will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Burgundy's restaurant.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hogenkamp-Weber Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Research Association.

Ottawa
RICHARD W. DRERUP, 78, died at 2:45 p.m. April 12, 2004, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
He was born March 27, 1926, in Leipsic to Frederick and Frances Kreinbrink Drerup, who preceded him in death. On Nov. 25, 1948, he married Irene Hovest, who survives.
Mr. Drerup was a lifelong farmer and had retired in 1988 from mechanical maintenance at Philips Display Components, Ottawa. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, where he was a minister of praise. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9142 and a member of American Legion Post 63 and Knights of Columbus Council 1757, all in Ottawa. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors also include two sons, Rick (Jill) Drerup of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Brian Drerup of Rossford; a daughter, Cheryl (Len) Holtgreven of Findlay; six grandchildren; a brother, Leo (Bernice) Drerup of Delphos; and two sisters, Edna Salsburey and Esther Knott, both of Lima.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Arthur Drerup; and four sisters, Florence Weis, Lucille Ringlein and Ruth and Edna Drerup.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa. Father Tim Knepper will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with military rites by VFW Post 9142 and American Legion Post 63.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Love Funeral Home, Ottawa, where a Scripture service will be held at 3 p.m., a VFW service at 7 p.m. and a K. of C. rosary service at 7:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Putnam County Home Health or the American Heart Association.

Indian Lake
FONTABELL EDDY, 92, of Heartland of Indian Lake, died April 12, 2004, at Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood, where friends may call one hour prior to services and arrangements are incomplete.

Lima
FRANCES EVANS, 75, died at 10:09 a.m. April 13, 2004, at Lima Memorial Hospital.
Arrangements are incomplete at Jones-Clark Funeral Home.

Lima
JOHN B. GLADEN Jr., 63, died at 11:35 p.m. April 12, 2004, at Lima Memorial Hospital.
He was born June 30, 1940, in Lima to John B. and Anna M. Roddy Gladen Sr. His mother survives in Lima. His longtime companion, Catherine Haskins, survives in Lima.
Mr. Gladen retired in 2002 as a custodian from Lima City Schools. He was a member of New Greater Grace Church, where he was chairman of the deacon board, superintendent of the Sunday school and a member of the Gospel Sensations. He was a Navy veteran.
Survivors also include a daughter, Marva (Larry) Cowan of Lima; two grandchildren; four brothers, the Rev. Arthur (Tracey) Gladen of Columbus, Richard (Rae) Gladen of Lima, Sylvester (Rose) Gladen of Portland, Ore., and the Rev. James (Della) Gladen of Lima; and two sisters, Patricia (Alvin) Bulls of Lima and Catherine Downton of Cincinnati.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Gladen.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at New Greater Grace Church. The Rev. King Beverly will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Jones-Clark Funeral Home, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.

Ottoville
LAWRENCE "LARRY" HOEHN, 82, died at 12:57 p.m. April 12, 2004, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 16, 1922, in Ottoville to Andrew and Rosa Weber Hoehn, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Hoehn retired from Remlinger Manufacturing, Kalida. He had also worked at Gordon's Produce and for several years at Rusco, Pandora. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, and its Holy Name Society. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3740, Ottoville, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 471, Delphos. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He enjoyed polka dancing and was an avid card player.
Survivors include two brothers, John J. Hoehn of Glandorf and Walter (Betty) Hoehn of Lima; two sisters, Ann Bonifas of Ottoville and Hilda Menker of Englewood; 24 nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. The Rev. Tony Borgia will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic cemetery, Ottoville.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Orians Funeral Home, Ottoville, where a parish wake service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the charity of the donor's choice.

Lima
HAROLD E. "DUTCH" LAUER, DDS, 84, died April 2, 2004, in Richmond, Va.
He was born Aug. 17, 1919, in Delaware County, Ohio, to Herbert A. and Cloa Lehner Lauer, who preceded him in death. He married Ann R. Lauer, who survives.
Dr. Lauer was the first orthodontist in Lima, where he practiced until his retirement in 1989. He was an active member of many professional, alumni and community organizations, including St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275, and the Lima Rotary Club. He graduated from Waldo High School, Waldo, in 1937, and from The Ohio State University School of Pharmacy in 1941. He was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army and served with the 17th Field Artillery during World War II. He fought in Sicily, North Africa and Europe and served with the Army of Occupation in Germany, attaining the rank of major. He was awarded the Bronze Star for valor during the Battle of el Guettar. After the war, he graduated from Ohio State's School of Dentistry in 1950 and The Graduate School of Orthodontics in 1951. He was an avid fisherman, sportsman and gardener, with a partiality for roses.
Survivors also include three sons, Andrew (Diane) Lauer, John Lauer and Herbert (Karlyn) Lauer, all of Lima; a daughter, Annette (Philip) Lang of Noblesville, Ind.; two stepdaughters, Trish Nunley and Julie Nunley, both of Richmond, Va.; a sister, Lucile Carey of Marion; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Bernard Lauer, M.D., of Marion.
Memorial services will begin at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke Lutheran Church. The Rev. Arthur Wilde will officiate. Burial will be at 3 p.m. June 9, 2004, in Arlington National cemetery, Washington D.C., with military rites.
Friends may call one hour prior to services Saturday at the church and one hour after the service at Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 54.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District, 2355 Ada Road, Lima, OH 45801, or to St. Luke Lutheran Church, 209 W. North St., Lima, OH 45801.
Arrangements are by Chiles & Sons-Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel.

Delphos
WILLIAM "BILL" MERSCHMAN, 95, died at 1:20 p.m. April 13, 2004, at Roselawn Manor Nursing Home, Spencerville.
He was born Dec. 23, 1908, in Cloverdale to Frank and Katherine Klima Merschman, who preceded him in death. He married Elizabeth Martin, who died Oct. 29, 1993.
Mr. Merschman retired as a security guard from Fruehauf. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 471, Delphos. He enjoyed camping, fishing and playing cards at the Senior Citizens.
He was preceded in death by a son, John Merschman, who died in 1969; four brothers, Lawrence, Harry, Al and Leo Merschman; and four sisters, Clara Landwehr, Anna Krontz, Mary Wallen and Veronica Kartcher.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Harter & Son Memorial Chapel, Delphos. Father Thomas Gorman will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Grove cemetery, Delphos.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Delphos Senior Citizens.

Lima
MILDRED MOORE, 81, died at 7:40 a.m. April 13, 2004, at Beverly Health Care.
Graveside services will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday in Upland cemetery, Hinton, W.Va.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Local arrangements are by Chiles & Sons-Laman Funeral Homes, Lewis Chapel.
