DOROTHY LENORE NICHOLS, 97, died at 12:20 a.m. May 1, 2006, at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.
She was born July 31, 1908, in Seneca, Kan., to William and Maggie Denton Oatman, who preceded her in death. On Dec. 16, 1925, in Kansas, she married
Lawrence Everett Nichols, who died Dec. 12, 1963.
Mrs. Nichols was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Lima. She enjoyed sewing, flower gardening, church activities and playing games, especially bingo.
Survivors include a son, William R. Nichols of Florida; two daughters, Marilyn Marie Nichols Risner and Betty Nichols Burkholder, both of Lima; nine grandchildren, Linda (Steve) Boop, David (Deb) Risner, Cathy (Kevin) Tierney, Debra Tierney, Bill (Elyne) Nichols, Pam Jenkins, Bryan (Kathy) Burkholder, Craig (JoAnn) Burkholder and Jeff Burkholder; and several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Lawrence Michael Nichols and John Risner.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Dr. Daniel Curtis will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and one hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.

HARRY PROCTOR, 63, died at 3:15 a.m. May 1, 2006, at The Laurels of Shane Hill, Defiance.

BRENDA S. SCHECKELHOFF, 34, died at 12:44 p.m. May 1, 2006, at University of Michigan Hospital, An Arbor, Mich.
She was born March 9, 1972, in Lima to Joseph and Diane Schroeder Kaufman, who survive in Miller City. On Sept. 2, 1995, she married
Kirk Scheckelhoff, who survives in Leipsic.
Mrs. Scheckelhoff was a registered nurse at Calvary Manor Nursing Home, Glandorf. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Leipsic, where she was involved in its engaged couples day and young married
couples focus group. She received her bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Toledo. She enjoyed cross stitching and the outdoors. She was a loving mother, wife, daughter and sister.
Survivors also include two sons, Keith Scheckelhoff and Jacob Scheckelhoff, both at home; three daughters, Emily Scheckelhoff, Kelly Scheckelhoff and Elizabeth Scheckelhoff, all at home; four brothers, Donald (Melissa) Kaufman and Gregory (Beth) Kaufman, both of Hilliard, Douglas (Jesica) Kaufman of Glandorf and David Kaufman of Ottawa; two sisters, Donna (Dave) Gable and Laura Kaufman, both of Miller City; her father- and mother-in-law, Donald and Teresa Scheckelhoff of New Cleveland; paternal grandfather, Albert Kaufman of Glandorf; and maternal grandmother, Marie Schroeder of Leipsic.
She was preceded in death by grandparents, Catherine Kaufman, Norbert Schroeder and Josephine Kaufman.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Leipsic. Father George Wenzinger will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Leipsic, where a rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Lima
ROBERT J. SMITH, 58, died at 5:39 a.m. May 1, 2006, at Lima Memorial Health System.
He was born Nov. 20, 1947, in Bellefontaine to George E. Smith and Mary K. Williams Smith Halker. His father preceded him in death. His mother survives in Huntsville. His fiancée, Verna M. Marshall, survives.
Mr. Smith retired in 2005 as a cab driver from Black & White Cab Co. He was a 1965 graduate of Indian Lake High School. He was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. He enjoyed making latch hook rugs, wrestling and sports of all kinds.
Survivors also include a son, Jay Smith of Lima; two stepsons, Ottis (Danielle) Marshall and Michael Marshall, both of Lima; three daughters, Rhonda (Jim) Gilliam of Belle Center, Kristie (Perry) Mitchell of Rushsylvania and Robin (Brad) Goff of Bellefontaine; two stepdaughters, Crystal Smith and Peggy Smith, both of Lima; a brother, Jack (Nikki) Smith of Russells Point; a sister, Sara (Lewis) Tracey of Huntsville; and seven grandchildren and nine stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by twin sons, Craig and Greg Smith; his stepfather, Roland Halker; a nephew, Lucas Tracey; and a stepdaughter, Patricia Smith.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at Chiles & Sons-Laman Funeral Homes, Wayne Street Chapel, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275. The Rev. Robert Wardle will officiate.
Friends may call from noon until time of services Thursday at the funeral home.

EUGENE EDWARD SMITH, 78, of Geneva, Ala., formerly of Celina, died at 11:28 p.m. April 28, 2006, at Wiregrass Medical Center in Geneva.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home, Celina. Burial will be in Buck cemetery, Celina.

DELORES "DEE" CHENEY, 78, died at 1:22 a.m. Aug. 24, 2006, at Inova Fairfax Hospital, Falls Church, Va.
She was born Aug. 17, 1928, in Harrisburg, Pa., to Patrick J. and Mary Jeanette Parshall O'Brien, who preceded her in death. On Dec. 25, 1949, she married
Melvin A. Cheney, who died Nov. 26, 2001.
Mrs. Cheney had worked in the restaurant industry. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Ada, and its Altar Rosary Society.
Survivors include three daughters, Christine (Walter) Pentland of Scottsdale, Ariz., Kathleen (Ahmad) Shah of Glendale, Ariz., and Beth (Joseph) Plumpe of Fairfax Station, Va.; four grandchildren, Andrew Pentland, Karen Pentland, Sarah Shah and Abraham Shah; a brother, Patrick J. (Kay) O'Brien of Augusta, Maine; and a sister, Margaret Gilder Mancini of Allison Park, Pa.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Geraldine Crowe and Patricia Murray.
Private family graveside services will be held in Woodlawn cemetery, Ada. Deacon Jack Stahl will officiate.
