Leola M. Shields
Died: Saturday, November 16, 2002
Age: 90
THE PLAINS -- Leola M. Shields, 90, of The Plains, died early Saturday morning, Nov. 16, 2002, at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital.
Born July 4, 1912, in The Plains, she was the daughter of the late John and Goldie Lewis Gabriel.
She is survived by two daughters, Jean (Don) Cunningham of The Plains and Brit (Bob) Blattert of Greenwood, Ind.; four grandchildren, Jerry Cunningham of Athens, Sherry Milliser of Lancaster, Jon Blattert of Newton, Iowa, and Eric Blattert of Greenwood; four great-granddaughters, Katie, Sarah, Rachel and Rebecca; and two brothers, Jack and Glen Gabriel, both of The Plains.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1992; two sisters, Irene Wade and Faye Genter; and six brothers, Donald, Floyd, Kenneth, Russell, Elmer and Paul Gabriel.
Services will be held Tuesday, 1 p.m., at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens, with Bill O'Brien officiating. Burial will be in Hilltop Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Quincy Lee Bridges
Died: Friday, November 15, 2002
Age: 84
LOGAN -- Quincy Lee "Cue" Bridges, 84, of Logan, died Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, at Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster.
Born Oct. 14, 1918, in McKinney, Texas, he was the son of the late Quincy Lee and Fannie Lou Haggard Bridges Sr. He is survived by his wife, Juanita Rausch Bridges.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Logan, with burial in Shaw Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, Logan, and Monday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Lawrence Benjamin Klinbriel
Died: Friday, November 15, 2002
Age: 84
NELSONVILLE -- Lawrence Benjamin Klinebriel, 84, of Nelsonville, passed away on Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, at Doctors Hospital of Nelsonville.
Born Feb. 28, 1918, in Saginaw, Mich., he was the son of the late William and Mary Arft Klinebriel. He was the widower of the late Garnet Diana Ackison Klinebriel.
He is survived by six sons, Richard L. (Suzanne) Klinebriel of Carbon Hill, Gary Klinebriel of Nelsonville, Larry E. (Susie) Klinebriel of Haydenville, Joe (Debra) Klinebriel of Rockbridge, Lenny M. (Laurie) Klinebriel of Logan and Rodney Klinebriel of Nelsonville; a daughter, Rebecca Sue James of Logan; 21 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth Higgins of Nelsonville and Peg Pile of Miamisburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Services will be held Monday, 10 a.m., at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, Nelsonville, with the Rev. King Kelly officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Nelsonville.

James C. Hill
Died: Saturday, October 26, 2002
Age: 69
ATHENS -- James C. "Ping" Hill, 69, passed away Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002, at Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis, after several years of failing health.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Hill, who died Nov. 5, 1980, and Viola "Daisy" Hill.
Born in Nelsonville, he lived his life within Athens County, most recently in Athens. He worked for several years at the Athena Theater, and fixed and traded automobiles. During the early 1980s he owned and managed Crows Nest Pawn Shop on North Lancaster Street in Athens. He often expressed strong and controversial political and social opinions in his letters to the editor. His hobbies and interests included reading, studying about World War II, guns, automobiles, and photography.
Mr. Hill left no children or immediate family.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his long-time friend and companion, Mary Charonis, who died Dec. 28, 1999; and a half brother, Arthur "Pearl" Hill, who died in 1972.
Arthur Lee McQuaid
Died: Saturday, October 26, 2002
Age: 82
HAYDENVILLE -- Arthur Lee McQuaid, 82, of Haydenville, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002, at Ohio State University Hospital East, Columbus, after an extended illness.
Born Feb. 1, 1920, in Haydenville, he was the son of the late Eliphlet C. and Martha Barstow McQuaid. Mr. McQuaid was an Army veteran of World War II, a member of Logan First Baptist Church, had formerly worked for Natco Corp. in Haydenville and retired from Selkirk Metalbestos Corp. in Logan.
He is survived by his wife, Vivian Esther Barron McQuaid; a son, Walter Lee McQuaid of Lancaster; three grandchildren, Brittany McQuaid of Circleville, Jared McQuaid of Columbus and Michael McQuaid of Lancaster; and three great-grandchildren, Isaiah Winegardner of Circleville, Damron McQuaid and Colton McQuaid of Logan.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and six sisters.
Services will be held Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Roberts Funeral Home, Logan, with Kenny Kidd officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Nelsonville.

William Hubbard
Died: Wednesday, May 1, 2002
RAY -- William Cecil Hubbard, 78, of Ray, died Wednesday, May 1, 2002, at Four Winds Nursing Facility in Jackson.
Born March 22, 1924, in Roderfield, W.Va., he was the son of the late Albert Henry and Bertha Jenkins Hubbard. He was a dairy machine operator, a 1942 graduate of Allensville High School, a World War II Marine Corps veteran, and had lived most of his life in California and Oregon.
He is survived by a daughter, Tracee (Mark) Clausen of California; sons Larry, Roger and Robert of California, and William of Georgia; sisters Virginia (Clyde) Graves of Ray, Betty Finn of Staunton, Va., and Peggy (Horace) Brown of Hillsville, Va.; brothers Albert "Junior" Hubbard of Mesa, Ariz., and Gentry (Rose) Hubbard of Pulaski, Va.; and a special friend, Randy Cadonau of Portland, Ore.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers James "Jack" and Kenneth Hubbard.
Services will be held Sunday, 4 p.m., at Garrett Funeral Home in McArthur, with the Rev. Phil Henneman officiating. Burial will be held Monday, 12:30 p.m., in Dayton National Cemetery.

Thea White
Died: Thursday, April 18, 2002
NEW STRAITSVILLE -- Thea White, 102, of New Straitsville, died Thursday, April 18, 2002, in Somerset.
Born March 22, 1900, in New Straitsville, she was the daughter of the late Joseph R. and Elizabeth Pritchard Grandy.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan. A private burial will be in New Straitsville Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday from 11 a.m. until the service.
Thomas Jones
Died: Wednesday, April 17, 2002
TRIMBLE -- Thomas David Jones, 57, of Trimble, passed away April 17, 2002, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 29, 1944 in Seattle, Wash., son of the late Arthur Samuel and Lida Snyder Jones.
Private services will be held at the families' convenience. Arrangements were by Cardaras Funeral Home, Glouster.
Timothy Honacher
Died: Thursday, April 11, 2002
RAVENSWOOD, W.Va. -- Timothy Ralph Daniel Honacher, 15-month-old son of Fred and Karen Saltsman Honacher, died Thursday, April 11, 2002, at his residence in Ravenswood, W.Va.
He was born Dec. 21, 2002, in Gallipolis.
Besides his parents, he is survived by three brothers, Stephen, James and Raymond Honacher; grandparents Raymond and Kate Rodenhaver of Florida and Coral Saltsman on Ravenswood, W.Va.; an uncle, Timothy Saltsman of Ravenswood, W.Va.; and several cousins.
Graveside services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Keebaugh Cemetery in Tuppers Plains.

Terry Hensler
Died: Thursday, April 4, 2002
DUNDAS -- Terry L. Hensler, 51, of Dundas, died Thursday, April 4, 2002, at Hospice at Riverside and Grant.
Born May 4, 1950, in McArthur, he was the son of the late Edgar and Ethel Pendleton Hensler Jr. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Paulette Prater, and a son, Mark Hensler Prater.
Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Garrett Funeral Home, McArthur. Burial will be in Elk Cemetery with military graveside services by Vinton County VFW Post 5299.
