Joe Tritipo
Died: Wednesday, April 3, 2002
ATHENS -- Joe D. Tritipo died Wednesday, April 3, 2002, after an extended illness at the age of 74.
Joe was a graduate of Athens High School, and served in the U.S. Navy from June 1945 to August 1949. Joe owned and operated his own company for 47 years, Athens Tile and Marble Company. He was a member of Nelsonville VFW and Athens American Legion.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Jo-An L. Tritipo; mother, Alice Snedden Tritipo; father, Dwight D. Tritipo; brother, John "Jack" Tritipo; sister Janice Tritipo; mother-in-law, Em Kraft; father-in-law, John Kraft, and brother-in-law, Harold Kraft.
He is survived by eight children, Linda Douglas and husband Michael Douglas, Daniel Tritipo, DeMara Wilson, Joe Tritipo, John Tritipo, Jessica Tritipo, David Tritipo and wife Julia Tritipo, and Jennifer Adie and husband Timothy Adie. Joe is survived by grandchildren Tracy Tritipo, Stephanie Hines, Lyndsey Lanning, Charlie Wilson, Ali Wilson, Joe Tritipo, Travis Tritipo, Dan Tritipo, Tyler Tritipo, Alex Tritipo, Brooke Tritipo, Tanner Tritipo, Abigail Adie, Timothy Adie. Joe is survived by two great-grandchildren, Desiree Hines and Michelle Tritipo.
No memorial service or calling hours will be held, as this was his wish. Arrangements are by Jagers and Sons Funeral Home, Athens.
Thomas Perry
Died: Monday, April 1, 2002
ATHENS -- Thomas Hayden Perry, 84, of Athens, died unexpectedly late Monday afternoon, April 1, 2002, at his home.
Born Feb. 28, 1918, in Patriot, he was the son of the late William and Mary Evans Parry. He was a retired construction electrician, a 50-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, a well-known gunsmith and avid bird dog fieldtrailer, a Navy veteran of World War II, a member of K.T. Crossen Post 21 American Legion, and a charter member and past president of the Hocking Valley Sportsman Association.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth Thorne Perry; a son, Brent (Flora) Perry of Athens; a daughter, Cynthy of Newark; granddaughters Melissa (Kurt) Knowlton of Newark, Angela (Steve) Carter of Athens and Mandy (James) Conrath of Athens; step-great-grandchildren, Lauran and Corinn Carter of New Haven, W.Va.; a sister, Anna Louise Shato of Patriot; and special friends Dave Hawk and Karla Clark, both of Athens.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, 1 p.m., at Tyn Rhos Cemetery in Patriot, with the Rev. Tad Cuckler officiating.

Tommy Byron
Died: Sunday, March 31, 2002
ALBANY -- Tommy W. Byron, 67, of Albany, died early Sunday morning, March 31, 2002, at Mount Carmel West Hospital in Columbus.
Born July 17, 1934, in Athens County, he was the son of the late Michael and Jeannetta Wolfe Byron. He was a graduate of Albany High School, retired from GTE in 1985 with 33 years of service, and was a member of Albany Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Rita Cooper Byron; a daughter, Lynann Byron of Albany; a son, Michael (Terri) Byron of Groveport; three grandchildren, Corey, Hillary and Brendon Byron; two sisters, Linda (Al) Rimmel of Worthington and Marjorie Gibbs of Shade; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Albany Baptist Church, with the Rev. Michael Rose officiating. Burial will be in Alexander Cemetery.
Friends may call at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home in Athens on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m., and at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to services.
Therill Randolph Jr.
Died: Thursday, March 21, 2002
REEDSVILLE -- Therill S. Randolph Jr., 44, of Reedsville, died Thursday, March 21, 2002, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Parkersburg, W.Va.
He was born Sept. 5, 1957, in Mason, W.Va., son of Therill S. Randolph Sr. of Reedsville and Claudette J. Wolfe Pickens of Racine.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his stepmother, Wanda Randolph; and his stepfather, William Pickens.
Services will be held Sunday, 2 p.m., at White-Moquin Funeral Home in Coolville. Burial will be in the Randolph Cemetery in Reedsville.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Thelma Poulson
Died: Sunday, March 17, 2002
SYRACUSE -- Thelma J. Poulson, 85, of Syracuse, died Sunday, March 17, 2002, at Pleasant Valley Hospital in Point Pleasant, W.Va.
Born Sept. 14, 1916, in Mason, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late John Martin and Margaret Stewart Martin McGuire.
She is survived by a son, Randall Carpenter.
Services will be held Tuesday, 1 p.m., at Fisher Funeral Home in Pomeroy. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of services.
Glenn Young Sr.
Died: Monday, April 15, 2002
RACINE Ð Glenn F. Young Sr., 71, of Racine, died today, Monday, April 15, 2002, at his residence.
Born Jan. 30, 1931, in Zanesville, he was the son of the late George and Carrie Ward Young. He is survived by his wife, Marie Erwin Young; and children Glenn "Bud" Young Jr., Jeff Eisenbrei, Carrie Roush, Tanya Walter and Vanessa Jacks.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Cremeens Funeral Home, Racine, with burial in Carmel Cemetery.

William Durbin
Died: Thursday, April 4, 2002
POMEROY -- William D. Durbin, 78, of Pomeroy, died Thursday, April 4, 2002, at Rocksprings Rehabilitation Center, Pomeroy.
Born Nov. 18, 1923, in Belmont County, he was the son of the late Thomas and Blanche Edna Walters Durbin.
He is survived by his wife, Edith Moore Durbin, and daughters Deanna Hines and Marva Pinter.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Cremeens Funeral Home, Racine. Burial will be in Chester Cemetery.

Wanda Lowery
Died: Monday, April 1, 2002
GLOUSTER -- Wanda M. Lowery, 71, of Glouster, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2002, at her residence.
Born Sept. 30, 1930, in Glouster, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Lona Rutter West. She was the widow of Carl Lowery.
She is survived by three sons, Terry Lowery (Pamela Fox) of Baltimore, Larry (Sharon) Lowery of Columbus and Barry (Debra) Lowery of Glouster; a daughter, Cheryl (Jack) Moore of Obetz; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Danny West of Columbus; and a sister, Mary Reeves of Grove City.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, JoAnn West.
Services will be held Thursday, 1 p.m., at Cardaras Funeral Home, Glouster. Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Perry County.

Wilma Rutter
Died: Wednesday, March 27, 2002
GLOUSTER -- Wilma M. Rutter, 59, of Glouster, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at Doctors Hospital of Nelsonville.
Born Feb. 11, 1943, in Athens County, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Mary Giffin Rutter. She was very active at Glouster Community Center, where she volunteered her time.
She is survived by her son, Shawn Jerry Rutter of Glouster; a brother, Gerald Dean Rutter of Wellston; and two sisters, Evelyn (Delbert) Perry of Wellston and Wanda (Russell) Ball of Corning.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Rutter; and grandparents Neil and Amanda Hook.
Services will be held Monday, 1 p.m., at Cardaras Funeral Home in Glouster, with John Wright officiating. Interment will be in Hilltop Cemetery, Millfield.

William Misner
Died: Tuesday, March 26, 2002
MILLFIELD -- William F. Misner, 67, of Zanesville, died Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at Genesis Hospice in Zanesville.
Born Feb. 9, 1935, in Zanesville, he was the son of the late Benjamin H. and Gladys Stires Misner. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a meat cutter for Rittburger Meats, and a member of the Jacksonville VFW and Eagles Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Hoppstetter Misner; sons Kenneth (Carol) Hoppstetter of Lancaster and Benjamin Misner of Texas; daughters Mrs. Steve (Susan) Fessler of Zanesville and Mrs. Shawn (Sandy) Noll of Roseville; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Genevieve Spears of Glouster.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three grandchildren, three brothers and three sisters.
Services will be held Friday, 1 p.m., at Brown Funeral Home in Murray City, with Linda Berry officiating. Burial will be in Hilltop Cemetery, Millfield, with military graveside services conducted by the Combined Color Guard Unit.
