William Bentley
Died: Sunday, March 24, 2002
ALBANY -- William S. Bentley, 67, of Albany, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 24, 2002, at Kimes Convalescent Center in Athens.
Born in Athens on May 17, 1934, he was the son of Joe and Patience Staten Bentley of New Plymouth. He was a former employee of Ford Motor Co., Detroit, Mich., former service manager for Page Chevrolet and Gribble Chevrolet, and owner of BJ Auto Repair for 20 years.
He is survived by five children, Deb'e Bricker of Pomeroy, Cat (Mike) Ructie of Athens, Penny (Allen) Runyon of Athens, Bill (Pam) Bentley of Tulsa, Okla., and Jerry Bentley of Pomeroy; two adopted sons, Scott and Dustin Bentley of Albany; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Lewis (Lucille) Bentley of Circleville, Jim (Sue) Bentley of New Plymouth, and Ralph (Betty) Bentley of Detroit, Mich.; a sister, Lisa (Jim) McMeland of Arizona; and a special uncle, Damon (Ruth) Bentley of Nelsonville.
At Bill's request, there will be no calling hours or services. He willed his body to the Ohio State University Department of Cell Biology, Neurobiology and Anatomy.

William Courtney
Died: Sunday, March 24, 2002
MURRAY CITY -- William W. Courtney, 66, of Murray City, died Sunday, March 24, 2002, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
Born Jan. 3, 1936, in Nelsonville, he was the son of the late John W. and Violet Patton Courtney. He was retired from Blackburn's in Nelsonville and was a member of Church of Christ.
He is survived by a special friend, Rita Six of Murray City; stepsons and their wives, Bob and Christy Six of Trimble, Tony and Yvonne Six of Murray City, and John and Angie Six of Kentucky; a stepdaughter, Shelly Six of Kentucky; nine step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law Bev and Lee Ponn of Murray City, and Shirley Hoskins of Nelsonville; two nephews, Kelly Ponn, and Mike Ponn and his wife, Shirley, all of Murray City; a great-niece, Jessica Ponn of Murray City; and a good friend, Virgil Kittle of Nelsonville.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Kevin Ponn.
Graveside services will be held Friday, 1 p.m., at Salem Cemetery in Murray City, with Matt Thomas officiating. There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to Church of Christ or the American Cancer Society.

Dean Williams
Died: Saturday, March 23, 2002
ATHENS -- Dean Mason Williams, 87, of Athens, died Saturday morning, March 23, 2002, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus after a brief illness.
Son of the late Clyde L. "C.L." and Olive Mason Williams, he was born Feb. 25, 1915, in Glouster. A 1935 graduate of Athens High School, he was a brickmason for 50 years and was also a business agent for the Bricklayers & Masons Union Local 54.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Williams served during World War II with the Army Air Corps and was a lifelong resident of the Athens area.
He is survived by his daughter, Diana (Kenneth) Kantz of St. Charles, Mich.; five grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Stauffer of The Plains and Lois Bean of Daytona Beach, Fla.; a brother, Charles Williams of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law John Pence, Don Stauffer, Orland Bean, and Annabelle Williams; two sisters, Benarda Phillips and Dorothy Pence and two brothers, Bernard and Thomas Williams.
Graveside services will be conducted on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Maplewood Cemetery in Glouster by Pastor John Elswick. Military rites will be conducted by the Combined Honor Guard.
Friends may call at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home on Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday morning.

William Slisher
Died: Tuesday, March 19, 2002
ATHENS -- William E. Slisher, 71, of Huron, Ohio, died Tuesday, March 19, 2002, at Firelands Regional Medical Center South.
Born Feb. 5, 1931, in Athens County, he was the son of the late George W. and Elizabeth Tolliver Slisher.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Skiver Slisher; a daughter, Crystal Slisher; and six sons, Kevin, Kirby, Karson, Kip, Kreig and Kyle.
Services will be held Friday, 11 am., at Sandusky Church of the Nazarene, 4013 Columbus Ave. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Huron.
Friends may call at Groff Funeral Home, 1607 Perkins Ave. in Huron, on Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., and at the church on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m.

William Dyer
Died: Thursday, March 14, 2002
LOGAN -- William James Dyer Jr., 56, of Logan, died Thursday, March 14, 2002, at his residence.
Born Sept. 9, 1945, in Columbus, he was the son of the late Williams James Sr. and Betty Jane Downs Dyer.
He is survived by his son, Joe Dyer.
Services will be held Monday, 11 a.m., at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home in Logan. Burial will be in Knollwood Cemetery, Hocking County.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
Lowell Martin
Died: Thursday, August 16, 2001
McARTHUR -- Lowell Pearl Martin, 89, of McArthur, died Monday, July 31, 2001, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 9, 1911, in Zaleski, son of the late Leonard and Esta McKibben Martin.
He is survived by his wife, Nora Pearse Martin; daughters Lou Anne Miller and Donna Clary; and a son, Jerry Martin.
There will be no funeral service or calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Adena Hospice, 111 W. Water St., Chillicothe.

Frances Minor
Died: Thursday, August 16, 2001
CHESHIRE -- Frances C. Minor, 90, of Cheshire, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001, at Rocksprings Rehabilitation Center, Pomeroy.
Born July 15, 1911, in Rutland, she was the daughter of the late Delbert and Maude Chase Rice.
She is survived by a son, Jack Minor, and a daughter, Geraldine Bratton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Minor.
Services will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Fisher-Acree Funeral Home, Middleport. Burial will be in Standish Cemetery.

Donald Price
Died: Thursday, August 16, 2001
BELPRE -- Donald E. Price, 64, of Belpre, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2001, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Dover, Ohio, a son of the late Edward and Erma Ramsburg Price. He retired from GE Plastics with 35 years of service, and had attended Davis Memorial (Broad Street) Wesleyan Church. He enjoyed outdoor activities and model trains, and was a member of the 4-H Club of Ohio.
Surviving are his wife, Rose Mary Cox Price; two sons, Roger Price and his wife, Angie, of Denton, Md., and Greg Price and his wife, Jenny, of Belpre; two daughters, Charlene Fronko and her husband, Mike, of Vincent, and Pamela Guile and her husband, Dennis, of Belpre; eight grandchildren, Melissa Taylor and husband Steve, Mike Fronko and wife Shanna, Chris Guile, Thomas Price, Daniel Price, Sarah Price, Abigail Price and Jonathan Lane; two great-grandchildren, Angelica Fronko and Rebecca Taylor; a sister, Sondra Brozak and her husband, Charles, of Stewart; an aunt, Glenda Price of Canton; and seven nieces and nephews.
Services will be Saturday, 11 a.m., at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 5th St., Parkersburg, W.Va., with Pastors Ronald Drillion and Basil Atkinson officiating. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Harrisville, W.Va.

Blanche Wells

POMEROY -- Blanche Irene Stewart Wells, 83, of 165 Mulberry Ave., Pomeroy, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001, at her residence.
Born July 28, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Clyde W. and Nona Kerns Stewart. She is survived by a daughter, Claudia Ann Anthony. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas H. Wells.
Graveside services are Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Wells Cemetery.
Guy Deckard
Died: Wednesday, August 15, 2001
VINTON -- Guy W. Deckard, 71, of Swanton, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001, at Harborside Health Care Center in Swanton.
Born April 13, 1930, in Vinton, he was the son of the late Dexter and Anna Mae Thomas Deckard.
Graveside services will be held Friday, 10 a.m., at Tabor Cemetery in Vinton.
