James Stimel
Died: Monday, February 4, 2002
NELSONVILLE -- James C. Stimel, 68, of Nelsonville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Pitts Stimel; two daughters, Rhonda (Greg) Dietrich of Athens and Carol (Michael) Barber of Bellbrook; three granddaughters, Suzanne and Jessica Dietrich of Athens and Amanda Barber of Bellbrook. He also is survived by three sisters, Helen, Jean and Ellen; and three brothers, Roy, Ron and Harold.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Roy and Nora Ellen Thomas Stimel; four brothers, Jerry, Bill, Jeff and Marvin; and two sisters, Ann and June.
He was retired from Rockwell International/Ameritor in Newark and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
Cremation will take place and no calling hours will be observed.
Arrangements are by Warren-Brown Funeral Home in Nelsonville.
Forrest Cone
Died: Sunday, February 3, 2002
ATHENS -- Forrest E. Cone, of Greer, S.C., formerly of Athens, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002.
Born Feb. 13, 1922, he was the son of the late Frank and Hazel Young Cone.
He is survived by daughters Kandace Powell and Joann Henson; and a son, Frank Cone.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Cone.
Funeral arrangements will be private graveside services with full military honors in Greer.
Arrangements are by Wood Mortuary of Greer.
Katherine Jacobs
Died: Sunday, February 3, 2002
LOGAN -- Katherine Laura Jacobs, 83, of Logan, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2002, at Hocking Valley Community Hospital.
Born Feb. 11, 1918, in Chamberlain, S.D., she was the daughter of the late John and Katherine Kelley Chamberlain.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Donald Jacobs.
Services will be held Tuesday, 2 p.m., at Cardaras Funeral Home. Burial will be in New Fairview Memorial Gardens.

Clarence LaFollette
Died: Sunday, February 3, 2002
LOGAN -- Clarence Franklin Hank LaFollette, 76, of Logan, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at Hocking Valley Community Hospital.
Born May 2, 1925, in Buchtel, he was the son of the late Robert William and Helen Hostetter LaFollette Sr.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Leona LaFollette.
Services will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Roberts Funeral Home in Logan. Burial will be in Fellowship Cemetery, Green Twp., Hocking County.

Amanda Nicholson
Died: Sunday, February 3, 2002
COOLVILLE -- Amanda Leigh Kroeger Nicholson, 21, of Parkersburg, W.Va., died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg.
Born Aug. 1, 1981, in Parkersburg, she was the daughter of William Lee Kroeger and the late Joice Ann Mace Kroeger.
She is survived by her husband, Corey Nicholson; and a daughter, Lillith Nicholson.
Services will be held Friday, 1 p.m., at White-Moquin Funeral Home in Coolville. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Parkersburg.

George Reynolds
Died: Sunday, February 3, 2002
MURRAY CITY -- George Ross Reynolds, 77, of Oregon, Ohio, formerly of Murray City, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at St. Charles Mercy Hospital in Oregon.
He was born Feb. 24, 1924 in Murray City, son of George A. Reynolds and Florence P. Hillyer Reynolds, both deceased.
He was a retired employee of Standard Oil Co. and was a World War II Navy veteran.
He is survived by a brother, Marty (Gerri) Reynolds of Lincolnton, N.C.; a sister, Myra Cottingham of Oregon; a sister-in-law, Helena Reynolds, also of Oregon; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Dale and Don Reynolds; and a sister, Alice D'emilio.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Murray City, the Rev. Ernie Perkins officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Combined Color Guard Unit.

Myrtle Sheets
Died: Sunday, February 3, 2002
LOGAN -- Myrtle Mae Sheets, 85, of Logan, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, in Lancaster.
Born Feb. 2, 1917, in Hawks, Vinton County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Knapper and Martha Jane Oiler Sheppard.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, 7 p.m., at Logan First Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church on Thursday one hour prior to services.

Marjory Bennett
Died: Friday, August 17, 2001
CIRCLE HILL -- Marjory L. Bennett, 90, of The Plains died unexpectedly Friday afternoon, Aug. 17, 2001, at Hickory Creek Nursing Center.
Daughter of the late Rice and Donna M. Fisher Thomas, she was born Nov. 9, 1910, at Circle Hill, Dover Twp.
A graduate of Chauncey-Dover High School and the Grant Hospital School of Nursing, she was a registered nurse, working at Sheltering Arms Hospital, Hudson Health Center at Ohio University, and the Athens Mental Health Center.
Mrs. Bennett was a longtime resident of Circle Hill. She was a member of Chauncey Christian Church and the Friendly Circle Senior Citizens Club of Chauncey. Mrs. Bennett was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Nursing Corps.
She is survived by a nephew, Larry (Judy) McDaniel of West Carrollton; three nieces, Dixie (Dick) Leis of Palm Harbor, Fla., Martha (Auggie) Hutting of Gross Point Woods, Mich., Nancy (Mike) Weiss of Kent; and several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Bennett, in 1990; three sisters, Kathryn McDaniel, Anelee Vore, and Sarah Brown; and two brothers George and Lloyd Thomas.
The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. Steve Bentley, with burial in the Athens Memory Gardens.

Okey Connolly
Died: Friday, August 17, 2001
REEDSVILLE -- Okey Connolly, 62, of Reedsville, died Friday, Aug. 17, 2001, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Parkersburg, W.Va.
He was born March 7, 1939, in Long Bottom, son of Joseph and Eloise Price Connolly of Reedsville.
He was an electrician and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 972 in Marietta. He was an Army veteran, a Christian and an active member of Long Bottom United Methodist Church.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Janet Koehler Connolly, to whom he was married 41 years; his son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Tonya Connolly of Reedsville; two grandchildren, Karissa and Zachary; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Ken Frecker; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Wilbur and Marilyn Robinson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Randy and Janet Koehler; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at White Funeral Home in Coolville today from 6 to 9 p.m.
Private graveside services will be held at Sand Hill Cemetery, with the Revs. Norman Butler and Dave Dailey officiating.
