Died: Friday, May 17, 2002
CHAUNCEY -- Rebecca Tinkham Smith, 39, of Chauncey, died late Friday evening, May 17, 2002, at her home.
Born in Nelsonville on April 23, 1963, she was a daughter of Betty Deeter Tinkham Athens and the late Gerald Tinkham. She was a graduate of Athens High School and was employed by Bookman Food Service at Hocking College. She was a life member AMVETS Post 53 of Chauncey and VFW Post 7174 of The Plains.
She is survived by daughter, Tabatha, age 7; sisters Linda (Paul) Keirns of Millfield, Brenda (Joe) Norris of Glouster and Judy (John) Sabo of Somerset; brothers Ronald (Carol) Tinkham of Chauncey and Donald Tinkham of Athens; aunts Pauline (Bill) Carr of Millfield, Verna Tinkham of Glouster and JoAnn (Ben) Baughman of Athens; an uncle, Norm (Verna) Tinkham of Millfield; a sister-in-law, Gleneta Tinkham of Chauncey; and a special friend, Barbara Turner of The Plains.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Tinkham Jr.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are by Jagers and Sons Funeral Home, Athens.
Virginia Snyder
Died: Friday, May 17, 2002
GLOUSTER -- Virginia Lea Wisecup Snyder, 70, of Beavercreek, formerly of the Glouster Dock 2 area, died Friday, May 17, 2002.
Mrs. Snyder is survived by her husband, George S. Snyder, of 1933 N. Fairfield Road, Beavercreek; two daughters and a son-in-law, Theda Miller of Columbus, and Justina and Kevin Hart of Springboro; a son and daughter-in-law, Dwight and Debbie Snyder of New Holland; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Eileen and Homer Pierce of Jacksontown, Carole and Rex Myers of Rockbridge; and five grandchildren, Melissa Miller, Daryl and Dustin Snyder, Jessica and Brittany Hart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Preston Wisecup and Inez Justina Johnson Wisecup; and a sister, Evelyn Davis.
Roy Wogan
Died: Wednesday, May 15, 2002
ATHENS -- Roy "Jake" Wogan, 95, of Athens, died Wednesday, May 15, 2002.
Born May 18, 1906, he was a former employee of Athens State Hospital and Athens Lumber Co.
Services will be held Monday, 10:30 a.m., at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bates Cemetery.

Ronald Hart
Died: Monday, April 29, 2002
RACINE -- Ronald Earl Hart, 87, of Vine Street, Racine, died Monday, April 29, 2002, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Dayton.
Born July 23, 1914, in Mason County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Earl and Fannie Jane Sayre Hart.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Cutlip Hart; a son, Gerald Hart; stepsons Dennis and Davie Persons; and stepdaughters Lisa Bolin and Reva Stafford.
Services will be held Friday, 2 p.m., at Cremeens Funeral Home in Racine. Burial will be in Browning Cemetery, Portland.

Ronald Six
Died: Sunday, April 21, 2002
MURRAY CITY -- Ronald E. "Ronnie" Six, 65, of Murray City, died Sunday, April 21, 2002, at Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster.
Born July 5, 1936, in Murray City, he was the son of Eugene F. and Mildred M. Hamer Six of Murray City. Ronnie was a 1954 graduate of Murray City High School and a retired employee of Logan Carborundum Grinding Wheel Co.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife of almost 48 years, Kay McDonald Six; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mark Six, Dannie and Anita Six, all of Murray City; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Malcolm Swope of Roseville, and Lora and Jim Hanning of Nelsonville; grandchildren Shaun and Beth Six of Millfield, Joshua Swope of Murray City, Trey and Adam Wilson of Nelsonville, Brittany Six of Murray City and Kyle Six of Murray City; step-grandchildren, Jamie and Chad Geil and Stacie Hanning of New Straitsville; a brother, Jan L. (Cheryl Kay) Six of Nelsonville; his mother-in-law, Bernice McDonald of Buchtel; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Gary (Sharon) Dunkle of Columbus; brothers-in-law Dick (Orletta) McDonald of Roseville and Terry (Kristie) McDonald of Waverly; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, 11 a.m., at Brown Funeral Home in Murray City. Interment of Ronnie's cremains will be in Whitmore Cemetery, Athens County.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Robert Smith
Died: Saturday, April 20, 2002
CHESTERHILL -- Robert "Merlyn" Smith, 66, of Chesterhill, died Saturday, April 20, 2002, in Cambridge.
Born Aug. 27, 1935, in Chesterhill, he was the son of Esta Duncan Smith of Chesterhill and the late Wilford Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Nina Diehl Smith; two sons, Lincoln and Thomas Smith; and two daughters, Deborah Hann and Christy Schneider.
Services will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m., at Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill. Burial will be in Chesterhill Cemetery.

Roy Howdyshell
Died: Monday, April 1, 2002
LOGAN -- Roy Albert Howdyshell, 93, of Logan, died Monday, April 1, 2002, at Health Haven in Falls Twp., Hocking County.
Born June 2, 1909, in Monday Creek Twp., Perry County, he was the son of the late John D. and Julia Marlowe Howdyshell.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Edna M. Graffis Howdyshell and Helen M. Lane Howdyshell.
Services will be held Thursday, 1 p.m., at Roberts Funeral Home in Logan. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery, Bremen.

Roy Teal Jr.
Died: Monday, March 25, 2002
NELSONVILLE -- Roy A. Teal Jr., 15, of Nelsonville, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2002, at Children's Hospital in Columbus. He was born Jan. 18, 1987, in Athens County.
He is survived by his father and stepmother, Roy A. Sr. and Connie Teal of Nelsonville; his mother, Rose Hansen of The Plains; grandmother Electa Teal; foster parents Dave and Nell; a brother, Justin, and a sister, Kayla, both of the home; a half brother, Christopher, and a half sister, Natasha, both of The Plains; a stepsister, Michelle (Jim) Hoops of Nelsonville; stepbrothers Richard (Mary) Phillips of Athens and Jeremy Phillips and his fiancee, Amanda Keiffer, of Carbon Hill; and several stepnieces and stepnephews.
Services will be Friday, 1 p.m., at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, Nelsonville, with the Rev. Ken Donley officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Nelsonville.

Rosalee Kasler
Died: Sunday, March 24, 2002
GLOUSTER -- Rosalee McKinley Kasler, 70, of Route 329, Glouster, died Sunday morning, March 24, 2002, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
Born Sept. 8, 1931, in Amesville, she was the daughter of the late Ralph McKinley. She was raised by her grandmother and uncles. She was a homemaker and a member of Restoration Christian Fellowship of Athens.
She is survived by her husband, Dean Allen Kasler Sr., whom she married on April 8, 1951; two sons, Dean Allen Kasler Jr. and his wife, Toni, of Amesville, and Bart Lynard Kasler II and his wife, Diana, of Glouster; two grandchildren, Harmony Lynn Kasler and Bart Lynard Kasler III, both of Glouster; and two brothers, Jerry and Gerald McKinley, both of Amesville.
She was preceded in death by her father; a son, Mark; a brother, Robert McKinley; and a sister, Patty Withem.
Services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m., at Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill, with Pastors Lonnie Coates and Carolyn Wolfe officiating. Burial will be in Federal Valley Cemetery.

Sally Dotson
Died: Sunday, March 17, 2002
ATHENS -- Sally J. (Annette Walker) Dotson, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2002, at her residence.
She was a lifetime resident of Ohio, a former resident of Athens and attended Athens High School.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mildred Walker; and a son, Joseph Douglas.
She is survived by Dot Smith, Velma Dawson and Charles Bretz; children, Penny Dotson, Jeannette Armstrong (grandchildren Ryan, Bethany and Erin), Christopher and Jody Burns (granddaughter Megan), James Gatson, Darrien Workman, Lisa Dotson and Angela Dotson (granddaughter Victoria).
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, 7:30 p.m., at Grove City Church of God, 4325 Harrisburg Pike, Grove City.
Arrangements are by Evans Funeral Home, 4171 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus.
With every ending, a new beginning -- such is the circle of life. She will be deeply missed by all.
