Goldie Townsend
Died: Thursday, August 23, 2001
ALBANY -- Goldie E. Townsend, 84, of Albany, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, at Huston Nursing Home, Hamden.
Born Nov. 18, 1916, in Meigs County, she was the daughter of the late Charles William and Mary Ellen Lowe Garvin. She was retired from the Ohio University housekeeping department, and was a member of Albany Baptist Church and a 50-year member of Albany Order of Eastern Star 558.
She is survived by a brother, Charles (Mary) Garvin of Vinton; four sisters, Ann Lewis and Syliva Ambrose of Columbus, Neva Mossman of Albany and Mary (James) Frank of Athens; and four stepchildren, Mary Chaney of Albany, Julia Garvin Levins of Wilkesville, Betty Caputo of Lancaster and John Robert Jones of Slemp, Ky.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands John Jones and Elza Townsend; two brothers, Walter and John Garvin; and a sister, Helen Garvin. Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Bigony-Jordon Funeral Home, Albany, with Pastor Michael Rose officiating. Burial will be in Temple Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be today from 1 to 2 p.m., with Albany Order of Eastern Star 558 services at 1:30 p.m.
Richard Wade
Died: Thursday, August 23, 2001
ST. LOUIS -- Richard L. Wade, 77, of Florida, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, in St. Louis, Mo.
Born Sept. 29, 1923, in Millfield, he was the son of the late Edward and Irene Wade. He is survived by a daughter, Lora Pope.
Services will be Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Kriegshauser Mortuary West, 9450 Olive Blvd., St. Louis, Mo. Burial will be Florida.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a favorite charity.
Robert Williams
Died: Monday, July 1, 2002
LOGAN -- Robert C. Williams, 81, of Logan, died Monday, July 1, 2002, in Logan.
Born Jan. 18, 1921, in New Straitsville, he was the son of the late Joseph I. and Effie Alice Stalters Williams.
Services will be Friday, 11 a.m., at Oak Grove Cemetery, Logan. Military rites will be conducted by the Combined Veterans Organizations of Hocking County.

Nancy Schaller
Died: Sunday, June 30, 2002
ALBANY -- A memorial gathering will be held for Nancy H. Schaller on July 19 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the main shelter house at Dawes Arboretum in Newark.
Mrs. Schaller died Sunday morning, June 30, 2002, at Mount Carmel East Hospital, Columbus. There will be no calling hours.
Born March 31, 1921, in Newark, she was the daughter of Herman and Amy Kuster Henzy. She graduated from Newark High School in 1939, and from Ohio State University in 1975 with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education. She was an elementary teacher in the Lakewood school system until her retirement in 1981.
She was active in a number of professional and civic organizations, including Licking County and Ohio Retired Teachers Associations, Licking County Arthritis Foundation, Ohio State Alumni Association and Community Health Clinic of Newark, and was a tutor in the adult literacy program sponsored by Licking County Joint Vocational School.
Nancy was married to John William Schaller of Newark in 1942; he preceded her in death in 1991. She is survived by their six children, John William "Bill" (Roseann) Schaller Jr. of Albany, Emily Ann (Tom) Krysanick of Pataskala, Thomas Wells Schaller of New York City, Louise Jane (Robb) Decker of Thornville, Mary Eva Schaller of Rootstown, and Ann Marie (Roger) Sayers of Newark; their nine grandchildren, Nathan (Joni) Schaller, Reid Schaller, Grant Schaller, Cathie (Tim) Scholl, Erin Krysanick, Sarah Krysanick, Adam Decker, Ben Decker and Tom Sayers; three great-grandchildren, Kaden Schaller, Trey Schaller and Mikal Dulysz; and her three sisters, Julie (Jim) Cooper of Newark, Dorothy (George) Madden of Powell, and Amy (Jerry) Bowden of Newark.
The family has established a scholarship fund to honor Nancy's commitment to higher education. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent payable to the Nancy Schaller Scholarship Award Fund, in care of the Licking County Foundation, P.O. Box 4212 Newark 43058-4212.

Ruth Robinson

McCONNELSVILLE -- Ruth Marie Massey Robinson, 71, of McConnelsville, died Saturday, June 29, 2002, at her residence.
Born April 13, 1931, in Chesterhill, she was the daughter of Dorothy Chapman Massey of McConnelsville and the late Deighton Massey.
She also is survived by sons Dale Bruce and and David L. Robinson, and daughters Debra S. Johnson and Darla K. Hann. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Robinson.
Services will be Tuesday, 11 a.m., at Matheney Funeral Home, McConnelsville. Burial will be in Chesterhill Cemetery.

POMEROY -- Naomi E. Thompson, 70 of Pomeroy, died Saturday, June 29, 2002, at her residence.
Born Sept. 1, 1931, in Meigs County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Emory and Garnet Lucille Grover Eads. She is survived by daughter Sharon Trout. She was preceded in death by husband, William Thompson.
A private graveside service will be held at Riverview Cemetery, Middleport, with arrangements by Fisher Funeral Home.

Alice Coleman

MIDDLEPORT -- Alice D. Coleman, 90, of Middleport, died Thursday, June 27, 2002, in Jackson.
Born Nov. 5, 1911, in Pomeroy, she was the daughter of the late Bern and Ida Fitch Coleman. She is survived by her children, Clifford Coleman, James Sanborn, Clarence Sanborn and John Roy Coleman. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clarence Sanborn, and second husband, Bethel Coleman.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Fisher Funeral Home, Middleport. Burial will be at Gravel Hill Cemetery.

Born Oct. 12, 1916, he was the son of the late Charles J. and Elizabeth Collins Smith. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Louise Eal Smith.
Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, Logan. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Pauline Gamwell
Died: Wednesday, June 26, 2002
GLOUSTER -- Pauline Gamwell, 91, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2002, at Wesley Ridge Retirement Center in Reynoldsburg, where she had made her home for the past four years.
She lived most of her life in Glouster, where she was an active member of Glouster Methodist Church. Upon relocating to Reynoldsburg, she became a member of Reynoldsburg United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by a son, Phil; her husband, Ansel; parents, James and Florence Vaughn; a sister, Maxine Johnson; and brothers Harold and James Vaughn.
She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Jack and Sharon Doller of Sandusky, William and Peg Rarick of Pickerington, and Sam and Melinda Kasler of Vandalia; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, Cindy Dougan-DeLizio and Gregory DeLizio and sons Bryce, Braedon and Trenton; Michael Dougan and daughter Angelique, Phil and Patti Doller and children Scott and Caroline, Kurt Doller and daughter Morgan, Scott and Sandy Kasler and daughters Kelly and Lindsey, Mark and Amy Cohen and daughters Sarah and Deanna.
She held our hands, now God holds hers. We love you mom!!!
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m., at Maplewood Cemetery, Glouster.

Rita Kasler
Died: Wednesday, June 26, 2002
NELSONVILLE -- Rita K. Smith Kasler, 54, of Nelsonville, died Wednesday, June 26, 2002, at her residence.
Born Oct. 29, 1947, in Nelsonville, she was the daughter of Garnet J. Young Smith of Nelsonville and the late Clarence Max Smith Sr. Rita worked in quality control for Bailey's Car Parts in Lancaster. She was a 1966 graduate of Nelsonville High School and a member of the VFW Auxiliary and Emblem Club 97.
Besides her mother, she is survived by sons Ronald Kasler Jr. and Steve Kasler, both of Union Furnace, and Raymond (Christy) Kasler of Nelsonville; a grandson, Ashton R. Kasler of Nelsonville; brothers Paul Young of Athens, Leroy (Irene) Smith of Ozark, Ala., and Charles (Starla) Smith of Marietta; sisters Pamela Kempton and special friend Gib Phillips of Nelsonville, Debra (Dennis) Saunders of New Plymouth, Dorothy (John) Bullock and Betty Newlun, both of Nelsonville.
Besides her father, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Ronald W. Kasler, who passed away on Jan. 20, 2001; a brother, Clarence Max Smith Jr.; and a sister, Alice Smith.
Services will be held Sunday, 1 p.m., at Warren-Brown Funeral Home in Nelsonville, with the Rev. Ivan Pullin Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville.
