UNION FURNACE -- Christopher "Bud" McKibben, 47, of Union Furnace, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002, in Lancaster.
Born Dec. 22, 1954, in Nelsonville, he was the son of Juanita Dexter McKibben Bentley of Union Furnace and the late George McKibben. He also is survived by his wife, Linda Lou Harris McKibben.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Faith Freewill Baptist Church, Logan, with burial in Zion Cemetery, The Plains.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan, and Wednesday at the church one hour prior to the service.
Hazel A. Sanders
Died: Sunday, December 15, 2002
ATHENS -- Hazel A. Sanders, of Athens, passed from this life on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002.
She was born Feb. 8, 1921, in Roanoke, Va., daughter of the late Hubert and Fannie Mae Keesee Spradlin.
She was assistant manager for Revco Drug Store for many years, retiring in 1983.
She is survived by sons Russell (Anna) Tenney of Athens, Glenn (Bonnie) Tenney of Athens and Ronald (Audrey) Sanders of Albany; six grandchildren, Alice, Angel, Brandi, Emmett, Melissa and Wendi; nine great-grandchildren; two special great-grandchildren; three sisters, Katie Dickens of Roanoke, Janie Aesey of Roanoke and Agnes Chavas of El Torro, Calif.; a brother, David Spradlin of Richmond, Va.; and a sister-in-law, Vicki Spradlin of Roanoke.
She was preceded in death by husbands Raymond E. Sanders and Henry Tenney; two sisters, Helen Nelson and Edna St. Clair; a brother, Hubert L. "Buddy" Spradlin; and a grandson, Glenn A. "Buddy" Tenney Jr.
Funeral services will be held at Oakeys Vinton Chapel, Vinton, Va. Burial will be in Jeters Chapel Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home, Albany.
David Douglas Clary
Died: Saturday, December 14, 2002
Age: 53
McARTHUR -- David Douglas Clary, 53, of McArthur, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at his residence.
Born Sept. 3, 1949, in McArthur, he was the son of Ruby Henderson Clary of Chillicothe and the late Lloyd H. Clary. He is survived by his children, Cindy Clary, Terri Cox and Todd Alan Clary.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Lebanon Church, Vinton County, with burial in Lebanon Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Garrett Funeral Home, McArthur.
Contributions may be made to the family through the funeral home.
Lorena Davis
Died: Saturday, December 14, 2002
Age: 106
MIDDLEPORT -- Lorena Davis, 106, of Middleport, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at Overbrook Center.
Born Dec. 26, 1895, in West Columbia, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Robert and Ella Zerkle Washington. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Davis.
Private services will be conducted today at Middleport Hill Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Arrangerments are by Fisher-Acree Funeral Home.

Martha Oney Burchett
Died: Saturday, December 14, 2002
Age: 87
COLUMBUS -- Martha Oney Burchett, 87, of Columbus, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at St. Ann's Hospital, Westerville.
Born July 18, 1915, in Greenup, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Hiram and Mary Douglas Oney. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Burchett is survived by daughters Betty (Jessie) Mills of Columbus, Patricia (Wayne) Wilson of Marysville and Delores (Charles) Criger of Westerville; sons David Roger (Nancy) Burchett of Westerville and Ronald (Yvonne) Burchett of Magnolia, Texas; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Burchett, on April 29, 1975; sisters Sarah Campbell and Pearl Morrison; brothers Sam, William, Reece, Kelley and Adam Oney; and a half brother, Herb Dowdy.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Garrett Funeral Home, McArthur, with the Rev. Jack Marcum officiating. Burial will be in Elk Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Raymond Wallace
Died: Sunday, March 24, 2002
LOGAN -- Raymond L. Wallace, 83, of Logan, died Sunday, March 24, 2002, in Logan.
Born Feb. 8, 1919, in Mason County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Emett L. and Roselie Waugh Wallace.
He is survived by a son, Raymond Thomas Wallace; and a daughter, Sharon Bethel.
There will be no services or calling hours.
Arrangements are by Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home in Logan.
Ralph Farmer
Died: Saturday, March 23, 2002
WELLSTON -- Ralph Farmer, 81, of 625 First Ave., Lady Lake, Fla., died Saturday, March 23, 2002.
Born in Dorton, Ky., he was an Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Marcella Farmer; daughters, Sally Wynn of Montgomery, Ala., and Pat Spencer of Altamonte Springs, Fla.; and two local sisters, Tina Bugardner of Wellston, and Daisy Boyer of Jackson.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Lady Lake United Methodist Church, with Pastor Frank Mason officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lady Lake United Methodist Church New Sanctuary, 109 W. McClendon St., Lady Lake, Fla., 32159.
Arrangements are by Beyers Funeral Home Inc., Lady Lake.
Ada Prater
Died: Saturday, March 23, 2002
LOGAN -- Ada Belle Prater, 84, of Logan, formerly of Carbondale, died Saturday, March 23, 2002, in the Skilled Nursing Unit at Hocking Valley Community Hospital, following a brief illness.
Born May 16, 1917, in Carbondale in Athens County, she was the daughter of the late William and Anne Elizabeth Doles Hill. She was the widow of Robert M. Prater, who died in 2000.
Mrs. Prater was a loving mother, wife and grandmother. She was a homemaker, a memer of South Harvey United Methodist Church, a 1936 graduate of Union Furnace High School, and an avid quilter both at home and at Trinity United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a son, Sherman A. (Regina) Prater of Logan; four daughters, Sue M. (John) McBroom, Sonja C. Sutton Rea and Candy M. (Darrell) Gastin, all of Logan, and Billie K. Hoke of Columbus; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jane Beito of Virginia, Minn.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters and a brother.
Services will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Roberts Funeral Home in Logan, with the Rev. Dixie L. Bauman officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Logan.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Nick Parkis
Died: Wednesday, March 20, 2002
ATHENS -- Nick Parkis, 69, of Palm Coast, Fla., died unexpectedly on Wednesday morning, March 20, 2002, while playing golf.
Born July 22, 1932, in Athens, he was the son of the late James and Katherine Mernedakis Parkis. He was a retired restaurateur and building contractor. He was a 1951 graduate of Athens High School and is in the school's Hall of Fame. He attended Miami University and Ohio University, and was a former member of Athens Country Club. He was an Army veteran, having served in Germany during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Snedden Parkis; daughters Nicki Jean (Kerry) Lear of Akron, Theresa Parkis and husband, David Risley, of Columbus, and Kimberly (John) Riggs of Denton, Texas; sons Tony (Karen) Parkis of Hollywood, Fla., and Jim (Carol) Parkis of Little River, S.C.; grandchildren Amanda and Joshua Kranik of Columbus, Zackery and Erica Riggs of Denton, and James Parkis III of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton; sisters Ethel Alastanas of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Mary Weaver of Athens; and a brother, Socki (Alice) Parkis of Pompano Beach, Fla.
Services were held today, March 25, 2002,1 p.m., at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home in Athens, with the Rev. David Roach officiating. Burial was in Athens Memory Gardens.
Calling hours were held at the funeral home on Sunday.
