Leo F. Fell Sr.
Died: Monday, May 12, 2003
Age: 81
LOGAN -- Leo F. Fell Sr., 81, of Dry Ridge, Ky., formerly of Logan, died Monday, May 12, 2003, at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence, Ky.
Born July 6, 1921, in Meigs County, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fell. He was a retired heavy-equipment operator and an Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by a son, Leo Fell Jr. of Dry Ridge; a daughter, Debbie Walley of Amelia; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie E. Gilkey Fell, in 2001; and a daughter, Beverly.
Services will be held Friday, 11 a.m., at Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home, Albany, with Pastor Michael Rose officiating. Burial will be in Burlingham Cemetery, Meigs County, with military graveside services conducted by Albany VFW Post 9893.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Friday one prior to services.
Elward Baker
Died: Friday, October 11, 2002
JACKSON -- Elward Lloyd Baker, 70, of South Salem, formerly of Jackson, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, at Adena Regional Medical Center, Chillicothe.
Born in Letcher County, Ky., on July 18, 1932, he was the son of the late Henry and Martha Proffit Baker. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by daughters Vickie Edwards, Teresa Howell, Cindy Sexton, June Branscom, Lori Mantz, Wendy Copas and Touwana Roe. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Ann Barlow Baker.
Services will be Saturday, 2 p.m., at McWilliams Funeral Home, Wellston. Burial will be in Ridgewood Cemetery, with military rites conducted by American Legion Post 371, Wellston.

Lillian Durant
Died: Thursday, October 10, 2002
LOGAN -- Lillian L. Durant, 87, of Logan, died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, in Logan.
Born April 7, 1915, in Perry County, she was the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland and Mabel K. Howdyshell Strawn.
Services will be Sunday, 2 p.m., at Oak Grove Cemetery, Logan.
Friends may call at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan, on Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of services.
Laura Hogan
Died: Wednesday, October 9, 2002
WELLSTON -- Laura June Cheuvront Hogan, 83, of Wellston, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, at Licking Memorial Hospital, Newark.
Born Jan. 29, 1919, in Hepzibah, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Ottis and Tim Cheuvront.
She is survived by sons James and John Hogan. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Hogan.
Services will be Saturday, 10 a.m., at J.P. Rogers Funeral Home, Wellston. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

James Balding
Died: Tuesday, October 8, 2002
ATHENS -- James A. Balding Sr., 76, of Athens, died Tuesday morning, Oct. 8, 2002, at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness.
Born June 20, 1926, in Dansville, N.Y., he was the son of the late Burton and Rose Gerber Balding. He came to Athens in the late 1940s, being employed by the company that was building Poston power plant. He was a graduate of Dansville High School and president of his class. Mr. Balding was vice president of Bank One and started his banking career at the Bank of Athens and Athens National Bank. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and St. Vincent DePaul Society, a life member and twice past commander for K.T. Crossen Post 21 American Legion, past president of Buckeye Boys State, past commissioner of American Legion baseball, a life member of Post 76 AMVETS, Athens VFW Post 3477 and Athens Elks 973 BPOE, a member and past president of Athens Lions Club and served on the Athens County Veterans Service Commission. He was a Navy veteran of World War II who served aboard the carrier Lake Champlain, a member of 40 et 8 and a 25-year member of the Ohio Highway Patrol Auxiliary.
He is survived by sons James (Deborah) Balding Jr. and Joseph Balding, both of Athens; and grandchildren Christina Balding of Lexington, Ky., and Patrick Balding of Frederick, Md.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte DeMalet Balding, in 1988; and sisters Marie Reid and Delores Mouhouski.
Funeral Mass will be said Friday, 10:30 a.m., at Christ the King Catholic Church, conducted by Fr. Marti Holler. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, with military rites conducted by K.T. Crossen Post 21 and Athens VFW Post 3477.

Naomi Hartley
Died: Tuesday, October 8, 2002
JACKSONVILLE -- Naomi Hartley, 80, of Jacksonville, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002, at her residence.
Born Jan. 20, 1922, in Greenup, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Green and Corsie Johnson Rice. She was the widow of Nick Hartley.
Naomi was a member of Glouster Moose and a life member of Jacksonville VFW and Eagles. She worked for many years as a seamstress, as well as many years tending bar at the Wonder Bar in Glouster and VFW in Jacksonville. She enjoyed gardening and canning.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda Mae Barnhart of Jacksonville; two sons, Stephen Richard Boring of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Andrew Green (Wanda) Boring of Phoenix, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, James Quiller Rice of Arizona and Jesse Arthur (Virginia) Rice of Upper Sandusky.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jonathon Andrew Rice.
Services will be held Sunday, 2 p.m., at Cardaras Funeral Home, Glouster, with John Wright officiating. Interment will be in Concord Cemetery, Millfield.

Pauline Reuter
Died: Tuesday, October 8, 2002
MIDDLEPORT -- Pauline M. Reuter, 64, of Middleport, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002, in Middleport.
Born Nov. 26, 1937, in Minersville, she was the daughter of the late Rollin and Margaretha Maag Wolfe. She is survived by her husband, Donald E. Reuter, and sons Scott and David Reuter.
There will be no services or calling hours. Arrangements are by Fisher Funeral Home, Middleport.

Kenneth Wallace
Died: Monday, October 7, 2002
McARTHUR -- W. Kenneth Wallace, 80, of McArthur, died Monday, Oct. 7, 2002, at Holzer Medical Center in Jackson.
Born Sept. 27, 1922, in Blackfork, he was the son of the late Walter H. and Pauline Warman Wallace.
He was an accountant and a former employee of Baker Wood, Engle Construction Co. and McArthur Savings and Loan, and retired as a state employee.
He was a member and elder of McArthur First Christian Church, a 1940 graduate of Washington Rural High School, attended Purdue University and graduated from the University of Kansas in 1947 with a bachelors degree in business. He was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of Delta Lodge 207 F&AM, McArthur, where he served as master in 1957, secretary for many years and a member of the literacy council.
He is survived by his wife, A. Novella Thomas Wallace; a son, Walt (Theresa) Wallace of Lewis Center; a daughter, Jill Wallace of Athens; grandsons Woody and Vaughn Wallace of Lewis Center; a brother, Bob (Roberta) Wallace of Akron; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Wallace of Whittier, Calif.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Vaughn.
Services will be held Thursday, 2 p.m., at Garrett Funeral Home, McArthur, with the Revs. Dennis Sparks and James Henderson officiating. Burial will be in Elk Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 5 to 8 p.m.

Paul Pritchard
Died: Saturday, October 5, 2002
NELSONVILLE -- Paul E. Pritchard, 82, of Gahanna, formerly of Nelsonville and Athens, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, at Traditions in Gahanna, after a short illness.
Born June 12, 1920, in Nelsonville, he was the son of the late Eugene Cable and Elcie Cummins Pritchard. He was married to Dorothy Gilbert Pritchard of Gahanna for 62 years.
Paul was a retired vocational auto teacher for Warren City Schools, and a member of Mifflin Presbyterian Church in Gahanna and the Knights of Pythias.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Sharon (Patrick) Gray of Reynoldsburg; and a grandson, Ryan Gray of Reynoldsburg.
Services will be held Wednesday, 2 p.m., at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home in Nelsonville. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville.
