THE PLAINS - Dolores N. Gordon, 86, of The Lindley Inn, The Plains, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens.
Born May 23, 1917, in Nelsonville, she was the daughter of the late Wayne and Jenny Huddy Bumgardner. She was the widow of her two husbands, Gerald “Dick” Hannahs and Edmond Gordon.
Dolores was a retired operator for Ohio Bell Telephone Co. in Nelsonville.
She is survived by two sons, Jack (Libby) Hannahs of Longwood, Fla., and Jim (Sandra) Hannahs of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; a daughter, Jane (Tim) Stepps of Belle Chase, La.; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and sisters, Ann Nixon and Eileen Burchfield, both of Nelsonville.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a brother, Max Bumgardner; and sisters, Marie Dixon and Vergene Cyrus.
Services will be held today, 11 a.m., at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home in Nelsonville, with Pastor Stacy Evans officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville.

LOGAN - Lois F. North, 71, of Logan, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, in Lancaster.
Born Sept. 21, 1932, in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Olen and Tena Woodard Lama.
She is survived by daughters, Carol L. Fuller and Janet L. Myers.
Services will be held Monday, 11 a.m., at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Hocking County.

Jeanne Nixon Ratcliff

WELLSTON - Jeanne Nixon Ratcliff, 71, of Wellston, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at Ohio State University Hospital, Columbus.
Born April 20, 1932, in Allensville, she was the daughter of the late Roy B. and Dora Wilson Nixon. She worked in home health for Sun Plus of Circleville and was a member of Kelly Church.
She is survived by sons, Ronald (Jann) Ratcliff of Jackson and Randy Ratcliff of Gallipolis; three grandchildren, Ryan Ratcliff, Tami (Steve) Secrest and Jamey Ratcliff, all of Jackson; two great-grandchildren, Lindsay and Jenna Secrest; a brother, Roy (Frances) Nixon of Allensville; several nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers- and sisters-in-law.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Ratcliff, on Sept. 7, 1999; a brother, Richard Nixon; and sisters, Alice and Helena Wyatt and Mildred Nixon.
Services will be held Sunday, 1 p.m., at Garrett Funeral Home, McArthur, with the Rev. Gary Sollars officiating. Burial will be in Bell Cemetery.

Rita A. Griffith
Died: Tuesday, December 23, 2003
Age: 54
THE PLAINS - Rita A. Griffith, 54, of The Plains, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital, Athens.
Born Nov. 17, 1949, she was the daughter of Charles S. and Martha Cole Johnson of West Virginia. Rita was employed by Rite Aid in The Plains.
She is survived by her husband, Mack Griffith of The Plains; four grandchildren, Jessica Church, Michael Fusik, Christopher Fusik and Christina Fusik; two sisters, Sharon of Cleveland and Karen of West Virginia; and one brother, Richard of West Virginia.
She was preceded in death by one son, Michael Griffith; one daughter, Pamela Fusik; and a grandson Johnathon Fusik.
Services will be held Saturday, 3 p.m., at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens, with Roger Powell officiating. Burial will be at Hooper Ridge Cemetery, Athens.

Elfie Justice Worrix

HAMDEN - Elfie Justice Worrix, 81, of Hamden, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at Holzer Medical Center, Jackson.
Born June 11, 1922, in Pikeville, Ky., she was the daughter of the late R.W. and Vernie E. Hurley Justice. She retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Logan.
She is survived by a son, Cecil (Pat) Hunt of Hamden; nephews and a niece raised in the home, Ray (Carol) Worrix and Donnie (Gail) Worrix, both of McArthur, and Wanda (Lewis) Alteir of Corning; daughters-in-law, Kay Worrix of Hamden and Linda Hunt of McArthur; half sisters, Mayrene Hamilton and Melba Slone, and a half brother, Clemons Chaney, all of Pikeville; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Julius J. Worrix; a son, Marvin Hunt; a stepson, William Worrix; a sister, Nevolene Sharp; and three half sisters.
Services will be held Saturday, 11 a.m., at Garrett Funeral Home in McArthur, with the Rev. David McManis officiating. Burial will be in Hamden Cemetery.

Beatrice Kraft Hill
Died: Tuesday, December 23, 2003
Age: 94
VENICE, Fla. - Beatrice Kraft Hill, 94, died Tuesday Dec. 23, 2003, at Bon Secours Hospital in Venice, Fla.
Born Jan. 1, 1909, in Chicago, Ill., she was the daughter of Albert and Charlotte Ladd Kraft. She received bachelor and master degrees from Northwestern University, and also studied at the University of Illinois at Champagne.
She was married in 1934 to Dr. George Edward Hill. From 1948 to 1975, they resided in Athens, where Dr. Hill was professor of education at Ohio University and Mrs. Hill was a homemaker and elementary school teacher. They retired to Florida in 1975; and after Dr. Hill’s death, Mrs. Hill lived for more than 20 years at the Village on the Isle Retirement Center in Venice.
She was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church in Venice and a member of the PEO Sisterhood. She also did volunteer work at Bon Secours Hospital and Village on the Isle.
Mrs. Hill is survived by her children, Janet Ball of Concord, N.H., Judith Veney of Prescott, Ariz., Daniel Hill of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Charlotte Hill of Vero Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Her husband died in 1977 after 43 years of marriage. She also was predeceased by two sisters and three brothers.
The Neptune Society is in charge of arrangements. A family memorial service will be held at a later date.
Isabelle M. Loomis

Age: 85
LOGAN - Isabelle M. Loomis, 85, of Logan, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, in Logan.
Born Dec. 27, 1917, in New Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late James and Florence Foss Easterling.
She is survived by sons, Charles Diezman and Richard Bumgardner; daughters, Jane Archer and Karen Spaulding; and a stepson, Phillip Loomis.
Services will be held Saturday, 1 p.m., at Community of Christ Church in Logan. Burial will be in Knollwood Cemetery, Logan.
Friends may call at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home in Logan on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and at the church on Saturday one hour prior to services.
Bertha Elizabeth Warren
Died: Tuesday, December 23, 2003
Age: 70
DOANVILLE - Bertha Elizabeth Warren, 70, of Doanville, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at her residence, after an extended illness. She was born March 6, 1933, in Gore, daughter of the late John and Venetta Savage Bagent. She was married to Mickey Warren of Doanville for 46 years.
She was retired from Nelsonville schools, where she was a cook for 19 years.
She is survived by her husband, Mickey; two sons, Robert (friend Paula) Tyo of Pataskala and Terry (Mandy) Tyo of Doanville; two daughters, Christy (friend Ron) Canter of Nelsonville and Jodi (Kevin) Rickard of Albany; 15 grandchildren, Kim Krell, Stephanie Daughtery, Delores Hunter, Sheri Tyo, Kelly Tyo, John Simmers, Ricky Simmers, Emily Canter, Eric Skinner, Brian Rickard, Becky Stobart, Carrie Stobart, Michelle Stobart, Eddie Stobart and Brianna Stobart; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, David Bagent of Hilliard and James (Arlene) Bagent of Lancaster; and two sisters, Betty (Eldon) Wolfe of Nelsonville and Louise Blosser of Logan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by ason, Mickey W. Warren; and a great-granddaughter, Chelsea Young.
Funeral services will be Saturday, 11 a.m., at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, Nelsonville, with the Rev. Ernie Perkins officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery New Addition, Nelsonville. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
