Age: 81
LOGAN -- Leo F. Fell Sr., 81, of Dry Ridge, Ky., formerly of Logan, died Monday, May 12, 2003, at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence, Ky.
Born July 6, 1921, in Meigs County, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fell. He was a retired heavy-equipment operator and an Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by a son, Leo Fell Jr. of Dry Ridge; a daughter, Debbie Walley of Amelia; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie E. Gilkey Fell, in 2001; and a daughter, Beverly.
Services will be held Friday, 11 a.m., at Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home, Albany, with Pastor Michael Rose officiating. Burial will be in Burlingham Cemetery, Meigs County, with military graveside services conducted by Albany VFW Post 9893.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Friday one prior to services.
Rosemary Bucholtz
Died: Monday, May 12, 2003
Age: 77
LOGAN -- Rosemary Bucholtz, 77, of Logan, died Monday, May 12, 2003, at Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster.
Born May 27, 1925, in Columbus, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Rose Hartley Hager.
Services will be Thursday, 7 p.m., at Roberts Funeral Home, Logan. Burial will be in New Fairview Memorial Gardens.

Gladys Burns
Died: Sunday, May 11, 2003
Age: 85
ATHENS -- Gladys Burns, 85, a recent resident of Okeechobee, Fla., and a longtime resident of Athens, died Sunday, May 11, 2003, at Raulerson Hospital, Okeechobee. She had been living with her daughter, Eve (Craig) Olson.
She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and Catholic Ladies of Columbia. Most will remember her smiling face at Swearingen's Sporting Goods, where she was the toy manager from 1956 to 1979.
She was preceded in death by William, her loving husband of 67 years; her granddaughter, Elizabeth Olson; her parents, Carl Wiseman and Minnie Tippie Wiseman; and a brother, John Wiseman.
She is survived by her daughter, Eve (Craig) Olson of Okeechobee; a son, William Burns of Huntsville, Ala.; a sister, Helen O'Nail of Chauncey; brothers Gerald (Kate) Wiseman of Lancaster, Carl (Marylin) Wiseman of Hopewell, Va., and Roger (Betty) Wiseman of Athens; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, 10 a.m., at St. Paul's Catholic Church, with Msgr. Patrick Gaughan officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calgary Cemetery.
Friends may call at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens, on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m., where a Catholic Ladies of Columbia service will be held at 7:15 and vigil for the deceased will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Richard A. Pierson
Died: Sunday, May 11, 2003
Age: 67
THE PLAINS -- Richard A. Pierson, 67, of The Plains, died unexpectedly late Sunday evening, May 11, 2003, at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital.
Born July 22, 1935, in Rockford, Mich., he was the son of the late Dale and Mabel Marie Hagan Pierson. He was retired from McBee Corp., where he was a pressroom foreman, and was a Navy veteran who served in the Pacific Theater. He was a loving and devoted husband to Connie L. Pierson to 46 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Debra (Jonathan) Carroll of Newark and Karen (Mark) Shields of The Plains; sons Robert (Deborah) Pierson of Athens and Rick (Terri) Pierson of The Plains; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sisters Helen Smith of Sebring, Fla., and Peggy Palmer of Carolina Beach, N.C.; a brother, Charles Miller of Rockford, Mich.; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Stauffer.
Services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m., at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home, Athens, conducted by the Rev. David Roach. Burial will be in Alexander Cemetery, with graveside military rites conducted by K.T. Crossen Post 21 American Legion and VFW Post 3477.

Diane Marie Dressin

Age: 62
LOGAN -- Diane Marie Dressing, 62, of Logan, died Sunday, May 11, 2003, at Hocking Valley Community Hospital in Logan.
Born March 31, 1941, in Bremen, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Thelma Tobin Karshner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Dressing.

RAY -- Bruce W. Sims, 33, of Ray, died Sunday, May 11, 2003, at his residence.
Born Nov. 14, 1969, he was the son of Alberta Sims of McArthur and the late Vernon "Pete" Sims. He was employed by Plaska-Lite in Columbus.
Besides his mother, he is survived by sons Bruce, Steven, Joshua and Wade Sims, all of Londonderry; sisters Dixie (Richard) Nickels of McArthur, Carolyn Hamner of Logan, Bonnie (Perry Byers) Morgan of Peebles, Cheryl (Jim Sands) Sims of McArthur and Kelly (Robert Maxwell) Sims of Ray; brothers Michael (Debbie) Sims of McArthur and Dean (Carol) Sims of Creola; an aunt, Eva (Orville) Barron of McArthur; an uncle, Kenneth Sims of Wellston; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Garrett Funeral Home, McArthur, with the Rev. James Henderson officiating. Burial will be in Elk Cemetery.

Born May 16, 1916, in Williamson, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Henry and Lottie Lancaster Burke. She is survived by her children, Carol Mitchell, Ervin, Clyde, Harrison Jr., Robert and James Starr. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harrison Starr.
Services will be Tuesday, 11 a.m., at her graveside. Burial will be at Radcliff Cemetery.

She is survived by children Narda Rathbun, Noel Gillette and Paul Gillette. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Gillette.
Services will be Monday, noon, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Maxville. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Born Jan. 16, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Alice Laudmilt. She is survived by children Jenny Adams, Karen Kebler, Robert Scott Sprague and David Sprague. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Sprague.
Services will be Saturday, 11a.m., at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home, Coolville. Burial will be in Success Cemetery.

NEW MARSHFIELD -- Cecil Garrett Pidcock, 85, of Route 56, New Marshfield, died Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at Hocking Valley Community Hospital, Logan.
Born March 17, 1918, in Athens County, he was the son of the late Herbert and Sarah Munn Pidcock. He retired from Ohio University, was a World War II Navy veteran and was a member of Constitution Masonic Lodge 426 F&AM of New Marshfield.
He is survived by two sons, Charles (Carol) Pidcock of Millfield and Larry (Diane) Pidcock of New Marshfield; a daughter, Janice (Kermit) Stephenson of Logan, with whom he made his home; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Reba McMann of Athens and Audra Chesser of Columbus; and a brother, Roger Pidcock of Stockport.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Helen Louise LeMay Pidcock; a sister, Edna Holland, and a brother, Martin Pidcock.
Services will be Saturday, 1 p.m., at Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home, Albany, with Pastor Dave Cogar officiating. Burial will be in New Marshfield Cemetery, with military graveside services conducted by The Plains VFW Post 7174.
