LOGAN -- Patricia A. Akers Tatman, 57, of Logan, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, in Lancaster.
Born April 3, 1945, in Columbus, she was the daughter of the late Grayden E. and Marion Sylvia Lewis Akers.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry R. Tatman; a stepdaughter, Angelia Tatman Seum; and a stepson, William Tatman.
Services will be Monday, 10:30 a.m., at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan. Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery, South Perry.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Sunday at anytime. The family will be in attendance Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Billie Joe Carr
Died: Tuesday, December 31, 2002
Age: 48
ATHENS -- Billie Joe Carr, 48, of Athens, died early Tuesday morning, Dec. 31, 2002, at Ohio State University Hospital, Columbus.
Born July 30, 1954, in Athens, she was the daughter of William Powell of Athens and the late Aldena Cain Powell. She was a former employee of Ohio University Inn and Laughlin's Vending.
Besides her father, she is survived by a son, Bill (Jaimie) Rosser of New Marshfield; a daughter, Michelle (Donald) Stutler of Albany; five grandsons, Brian Rosser, Donald Stutler, Kristopher Rosser, Kirtlan Joe Stutler and Shawn Rosser; four sisters, Connie (Neil), Bonnie (Dan), Linda and Anna Marie (Phil); and a brother, Ray.
Besides her mother, she was preceded in death by a sister, Donna Jean Powell.
Services will be held Friday, 11 a.m., at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens, with Pastor Adelbert Winegardner officiating. Burial will be in The Plains Cemetery.

Age: 66
BUCHTEL -- Mary Jo Clark, 66, of Columbus, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, at Grant Medical Center, Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Clark, and a brother, Tracy Newman.
She is survived by children Kathy (Donald) Weaver of Georgia, Homer Frederick (Linda) Clark Jr. of Lancaster, Deborah (David) Breckner of Columbus, Thomas J. Clark of Buckeye Lake, Wilbur (Shirley) Williams of Columbus, Rhonda (Ishmael) Newsom of Obetz, Lora (Gary) Siler of Beavercreek and Anthony (Anna C.) Clark of Sugar Grove; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a brother, Rodney (Virginia) Newman of Columbus; sisters Shirley (Bernard) Davis of Buchtel and Ruth Cox of Carroll; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Friday, 10 a.m., at Graumlich and Son Funeral Home, 1351 S. High St., Columbus. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Columbus.

WELLSTON -- Neva Perle Downard, 86, of Wellston, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, at Holzer Medical Center, Jackson.
Born Feb. 17, 1916, in Vinton County, she was the daughter of the late James Pearl and Mary Ellen Booth Moler. She is survived by a daughter, Kay Black; and a son, Melvin Richard Downard Jr. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Richard Downard.
Services will be held Friday, 11 a.m., at McWilliams Funeral Home, Wellston. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery.

Born Sept. 24, 1910, in Hocking County, he was the son of the late David and Matilda George Frey.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice L. Salts Frey; sons, David and Addison E. Frey; and daughters, Sharon Prewitt and Sallie Idoine.

Lucy Coleman Davis

Age: 93
TORCH -- Lucy Coleman Davis, 93, of Torch, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, at Arcadia Nursing Home, Coolville.
Born June 19, 1909, in Troy Twp., she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Fannie Davis Coleman. Mrs. Davis was the Torch postmaster for many years and was a member of Rebecca Lodge.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Sharon Davis of Little Hocking; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Davis Sr.
Services will be held Wednesday, noon, at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home, Coolville, with Pastor Seldon Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Torch Cemetery.

William T. Haynes
Died: Monday, December 30, 2002
Age: 76
WELLSTON -- William T. Haynes, 76, of Obetz, formerly of Jackson County, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, at Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus.
Born March 17, 1926, in New Vienna, he was the son of the late Ernest and Lura Frye Haynes. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betsy Jean Bowling Haynes; and a daughter, Dianna Lynn Haynes.
He is survived by a son, Ernest Haynes; a daughter, Susan Brown; and his longtime companion, Bonna Sager-Haynes.
Services will be held Friday, 2 p.m., at J.P. Rogers Funeral Home in Wellston. Burial with military rites will be in Hamden Cemetery.

Kenard Lee Prunty

SYRACUSE -- Kenard Lee Prunty, 45, of Syracuse, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002, in Syracuse.
Born March 12, 1957 in Massillon, he was the son of the late Kenard A. and Shirley Riedenbach Prunty. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Ulrich Prunty of Syracuse; and Joshua and Jennifer Larsen, Kerry, Tina, Nicole and Kenard Prunty, and Kenard, Kendra and Kyler Prunty.
Services will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Gravel Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from noon to 2 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Home, Middleport.

Elsie M. Whitlach
Died: Sunday, October 20, 2002
Age: 101
NEW MARSHFIELD -- Elsie M. Whitlatch, 101, of Gun Club Road, Athens, went to be with the Lord late Sunday evening, Oct. 20, 2002, at the home of her daughter, Charlotte Chesser.
Born in Vinton County on Sept. 8, 1901, she was the daughter of the late Charles Levy and Laura Mae Woodrum Jolley. She was a member of New Marshfield United Methodist Church and the Harvesters.
She is survived by three daughters, Verna (Darrell) Covert of New Marshfield, Martha (Albert) Danks of Mayer, Ariz., and Charlotte (Lloyd) Chesser of Athens; a son, Charles (Bernice) Mace of Hammond, Ind.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jeanetta Clements of Nelsonville.
She was preceded in death by husbands Eli (Pete) Mace and Ernest Whitlatch; a son, Leslie Mace; sisters Gertie Keck and two infant sisters; and brothers Bill, Frank, Cliff, Ed and Jim Jolley and an infant brother, Lawrence Jolley.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at New Marshfield United Methodist Church conducted by Pastors Esther Scagg and David Cogar, with burial in New Marshfield Cemetery.
