Age: 36

DUBLIN -- Melissa A. Waninger, 36, of Dublin, died Tuesday, May 20, 2003, at Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital, Columbus.

She is survived by her husband, Kurt; a son, Kristopher; a daughter, Catherine; her mother, Sandra House; and her father and stepmother, Donald and Sally House.

A memorial service will be held Friday, 7 p.m., at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 5475 Brand Road, Dublin. A reception will follow. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Melissa's Children's Memorial Fund, c/o Fifth/Third Bank, 6260 Perimeter Drive, Dublin, 43017.

Arrangements are by Rutherford Funeral Home, Powell.

Jerry M. Bowen
Died: Monday, May 19, 2003
Age: 88

POINT ROCK -- Jerry M. Bowen, 88, of Canal Winchester, died Monday, May 19, 2003, at Winchester Place Nursing Home.

Born Oct. 20, 1914, in Vinton County, he was the son of the late Clyde J. Bowen and Mary L. Gregory Bowen Barnhart. Mr. Brown retired from Cotton Lumber Co. in 1981. He was a caring and loving father and husband.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Bernice Wood Bowen; a brother, Wayne; and a sister, Kathleen Berry.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dave and Nancy Bowen of Westerville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Butch Weber of Columbus, and Barbara and Robert Schatz of Pickerington; four grandchildren, Tammy Fisher, and Mike, Chris and Jeff Bowen; four great-grandchildren, Becky, Sammy, Matthew and Jacob Fisher; two nieces and three nephews; and a sister-in-law, Freda Frank of Newark.

Services will be held Thursday, 2 p.m., at Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home, Albany, with the Rev. Olan Harvey officiating. Interment will be in Castor Cemetery, Meigs County.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from noon to 2 p.m.

Florence Fraser Baker
Died: Monday, May 19, 2003
Age: 83

MIDDLEPORT -- Florence Fraser Baker, 83, of Middleport, died Monday, May 19, 2003, at Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus.

Born Sept. 28, 1919, in Middleport, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Harriet Lewis Fraser.

She is survived by a son, Thomas Baker.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Baker.

Private graveside services will be held Wednesday at Beech Grove Cemetery in Pomeroy.

Friends may call at Fisher Funeral Home in Middleport on Wednesday, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to a Christian charity of choice.

Gordon F. Gibson
Died: Sunday, May 18, 2003
Age: 59

ATHENS -- Gordon F. "Gordy" Gibson, 59, of Athens, died Sunday, May 18, 2003, at his home.

Born March 9, 1944, in Athens, he was the son of the late James "Frank" and Lana Olive Ash Gibson Sr. He was a graduate of Albany High School and was raised in Harrisonville. He attended Ohio University and was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Germany, where he was named Soldier of the Quarter for his artillery corps. Grody was service manager for Gibson Inc. and transportation manager for Bob Evans Farms.

He is survived by a daughter, Jodi (Michael) Harts of Nashville, Tenn.; a son, Dale Gibson of The Plains; grandchildren Whitney and Austin Ferris; his former wife, Rhonda Gibson; and brothers Gary (Sally) Gibson of Loveland, Don (Bertha) Gibson of Santee, S.C., and John (Joann) Gibson of Little Hocking.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Sean Gibson, and three brothers, Robert, George and James Gibson Jr.

Services will be held Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home, Athens, with Pastor Joy Clark officiating. Burial will be in Wells Cemetery, Pageville, with military rites conducted by K.T. Crossen Post 21 American Legion and VFW Post 3477 Honor Guards.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday one hour prior to the service.

Genevieve Kruger
Died: Sunday, May 18, 2003
Age: 93

McARTHUR -- Genevieve Kruger, 93, of McArthur, died Sunday, May 18, 2003, at Chillicothe Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Born July 27, 1909, in Eagle Twp., Vinton County, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Eva Timmons Diehl. She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Olive Church.

She is survived by daughters, Mary (Harry) Downard of Wellston and Rita (Kayle) Teeters of McArthur; four grandchildren, Carla and Kevin Teeters of McArthur, Shirley (Jeff) Young of Chillicothe and Bob (Amy) Downard of Wellston; a great-granddaughter, Katelynn Downard; a brother, Raymong (Wavalene) Diehl of Londonderry; and a sister, Norma Fee of McArthur.

She married Roy Kruger on Sept. 26, 1936, and he passed away on Feb. 1, 1998. Besides her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Fern Kruger; and sisters Thelma McClure and Ival Turner.

Services will be held Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Garrett Funeral Home, with the Rev. Danny Minton officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery, Vinton County.

Friends may call at the funeral home today from 3 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mount Olive Church, c/o Garrett Funeral Home, P.O. Box 302, McArthur, 45651.

David J. Albaugh
Died: Sunday, May 18, 2003
Age: 85

McCONNELSVILLE -- David J. Albaugh, 85, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2003, at 1:25 p.m., at Morgan Care Center in McConnelsville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, on Sept. 15, 1988, on their 47th wedding anniversary.

He is survived by his daughter, Jane Williams of Athens; and his son, Doug of Stockport; grandsons, Ty Williams of Stockport and Ryan Williams of Guysville; and a great-granddaughter, Paige Williams of Guysville.

Mr. Albaugh donated his body to Ohio State University Medical School. There will be no services or calling hours.

Memorial contributions in his name may be made to Morgan Care Center, Resident Activity Fund, 8565 Riverside Drive, McConnelsville, 43756.

Eugene U. Post
Died: Sunday, May 18, 2003
Age: 83

RAY -- Eugene U. Post, 83, of Ray, died Saturday, May 18, 2003, at Chillicothe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born Feb. 17, 1920, in Adams County, he was the son of the late the Rev. Delford and Shirley Seeley Post. He was a World War II Army veteran.

Services will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m., at McWilliams Funeral Home, Wellston. Burial will be in Byer Cemetery, with military services by American Legion Post 371 of Wellston.

Friends may call at the funeral home today from 5 to 8 p.m.

Larry Jackson Sr.
Died: Sunday, December 14, 2003
Age: 66

LOGAN - Larry Jackson Sr., 66, Gibisonville, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at his residence.

Born May 30, 1937, in Columbus, he was the son of the late Lee Jackson and Julia Root Jackson-Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Ellalee; sons, Larry Jackson Jr. and Steve Jackson; daughters, Tammy Rothe, Kathy Woodgeard and Liz Stratton; stepsons, Clinton Jr., Roger, Harold, Clayton and Ronald Queen; and stepdaughters, Brenda Estep, Mary Lou Miller and Kathy Perrine.

Services will be Thursday, 1 p.m., at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan. Burial will be in Laurel Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Florence H. Daugherty
Died: Sunday, December 14, 2003
Age: 87

GLOUSTER - Florence H. Daugherty, 87, of The Plains, and formerly of Glouster, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at her residence.

She was born Nov. 23, 1916, in Athens County, the daughter of the late Harvey and Anna Katzenbach Smith. She was the widow of the late George G. Daugherty.

She was the member of the Glouster Project.

Mrs. Daugherty is survived by two sons, Jerry (Janice) Waldeck of Purlear, N.C., and Larry (Gayle) Waldeck of Quinnesic, Mich.; two daughters, Ann (James) Waldeck of Arab, Ala. and Kitty Kempton of Millfield; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Daugherty also is survived by one brother Harvey Smith Jr. of Virginia.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth M. Spence, Erna M. Bond and Stella M. Daugherty and four brothers, Lewis Smith, Thurman D. Smith, John E. Smith and Pearly M. Smith.

Funeral services will be Thursday, 10 a.m., at the Cardaras Funeral Home, Glouster, with Tim Seevers officiating. Interment will be in Federal Valley Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
