Ernest Gordon Skinner

Age: 79
TRIMBLE -- Ernest Gordon Skinner, 79, of Columbus, formerly of Trimble, passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2003, at Friendship Village of Columbus.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Ernest retired from Ohio State University and also worked at Janitrol. He was the greatest husband, father, grandfather and Buckeye fan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Irene; children, Michael (Ann) Skinner, Barbara (Richard) Martin and Pamela (Alan) Fenn; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and brothers, Floyd and Byron Skinner.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, 10 a.m., at Schoedinger North Chapel, 5554 Karl Road, Columbus, with the Rev. James Arnot officiating. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Maplewood Cemetery, Bishopville.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 4 to 8 p.m.

Jettie Gernice Jewell

Age: 68
LANGSVILLE -- Jettie Bernice Jewell, 68, of Nelson Road, Langsville, died Sunday, June 1, 2003, at her residence.
Born Nov. 10, 1934, in Varney, Ky., she was the daughter of the late John B. and Taney Case Williamson. She was a retired dairy farmer and attended Columbia Chapel Church in Point Rock.
She is survived by four children, Connie S. (Andrew) Caines of Varney, Bonnie L. Jewell, Robert Keith (Martha) Hypes and Diana L. (Floyd) Holliday, all of Langsville; four grandchildren Donnie W. Ray of Goldsboro, N.C., Joshua Keith Hypes and Justin George Hypes, both of Ewington, and Jessica Marie Holliday of Langsville; four sisters, Claudia Hale of Wilkesville, Norma Pinson of Chickamauga, Ga., Lena Webb of Varney, and Lucille Bostic of Winter Park, Fla.; and two brothers, Isaac Williamson and Lonnie Williamson, both of Varney.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, John Justin Hypes; two sisters, Doris Etta and Nadine Williamson; and a brother, Donnie Williamson.
Services will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home in Albany, with Pastor Donnie Quesinberry officiating. Burial will be in the Jettie Family Cemetery, Dexter.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m., and Tuesday after 2 p.m. A service will be held at the funeral home at 7 Tuesday evening.
Silk flowers or planters are preferred.
Dawson Lee Willison
Died: Saturday, May 31, 2003
NELSONVILLE - Dawson Lee and Skylar Ryan Willison, infant twin sons of Jamie and James Willison II of Nelsonville, went to heaven a day apart. Dawson passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2003, and Skylar passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2003. They came too soon; their stay was too short.
In addition to their parents, they are survived by a sister, Iesha Nicole Willison of the home; maternal grandparents Charlotte Crothers and Larry Simonton Sr. of Nelsonville; paternal grandparents Shirley Willison of New Straitsville and Jim Willison of Corning; paternal great-grandmothers Hazel Lincoln of Lucasville and Wilda Willison of Corning; four uncles, two aunts, 10 first cousins, and several great-aunts, uncles and other cousins.
They were preceded in death by maternal great-grandparents Josephine and Lester Crothers, and Evelyn and Pete Simonton; paternal great-grandfather Warren Willison; and cousins George Howard Simonton, Jerry Lee Crothers and Joseph Anthony Borgheese.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, 2 p.m., at Carbon Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Michael Thomas officiating.

WELLSTON - Georgia B. Bales, 87, of Livonia, Mich., formerly of Wellston, died Saturday, May 31, 2003, at Botsford General Hospital.
Born Jan. 23, 1916, in Wellston, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary Workman Thompson. She is survived by sons Carl Bales Jr. and Eric Bales. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Bales.
Services will be Thursday at noon at McWilliams Funeral Home, Wellston. Burial will be in Ridgewood Cemetery.

Robert D. Johnston

LOGAN -- Robert D. Johnston, 58, of Logan, died Saturday, May 31, 2003, at his residence.
Born June 17, 1944, in South Bloomingville, he was the son of Willis H. Johnston of Laurelville and the late Iva Marie Lytle Johnston.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn S. Starner Johnston; and a son, Kelly Johnston.
Services will be held Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home in Logan. Burial will be in Green Summit Cemetery, Adelphi, with military graveside rites conducted by the Combined Veterans Organizations of Hocking County.

GLOUSTER -- Wayne Ellis Fierce Jr., 59, of Glouster, died Saturday, May 31, 2003, in Nelsonville.
Born Oct. 28, 1943, in Athens County, he was the son of the late Wayne Ellis Sr. and Isabelle Marie Lefever Fierce.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Hook Fierce; sons, John W., Jerry L. and Wayne Ellis Fierce; and daughters Tammie Lynn Fierce, Tonya C. Mesaros and Mary I. Fierce.
Services will be held Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Brown Funeral Home in Murray City. Burial will be in Hilltop Cemetery, Millfield.

HOCKINGPORT -- Nina Rockhold, 90, of Hockingport, died Saturday, May 31, 2003, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Parkersburg, W.Va.
Born Sept. 19, 1912, she was the daughter of the late James and Minnie Buchanan Randolph. She was a homemaker and a member of Hockingport United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Arden Depoy of Little Hocking; two grandsons, Mark Rockhold of Little Hocking and Matthew Rockhold of Belpre; two granddaughters, Janice Dubois of Pasadena, Md., and Joyce Smith of Milton, Vt.; a great-granddaughter, Katie Marie Rockhold; and two special friends, Doris Atkinson and Judy Rockhold.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil; and a son, Russell.
Services will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m., at White Funeral Home in Coolville, with the Rev. George Horner officiating. Burial will be in Stewart Cemetery, Hockingport.

Wilda Irene Brogan

RUTLAND -- Wilda Irene Brogan, 88, of McCumber Road, Rutland, died Saturday, May 31, 2003, at Pleasant Valley Hospital, Point Pleasant, W.Va.
Born May 25, 1915, in Charleston, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Gerald P. and Eliza Williams Greene.
She is survived by children Joan Goff, Donald "Bud" King, Janet Haley, John W. Brogan Jr., Lawrence Brogan, Barry Brogan, Judith Collier, Joyce Rowe, Diana Godfrey, Stephen Brogan, Mark Brogan and Linda Dodgin.
She was preceded in death by children, James, Lester, Jerry and Joseph Brogan.
Services will be held Wednesday, 10 a.m., at Ewing Funeral Home in Pomeroy. Burial will be in Miles Cemetry.

Marguerite Virginia Clark Burdette

Age: 80
COOLVILLE -- On Saturday, May 31, 2003, at the age of 80 years, we lost the best wife, mother and mother-in-law in the world when Marguerite Virginia Clark Burdette went home to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Marguerite was born to Marcus and Minnie Clark on March 11, 1923, and lived most of her life in Coolville. She and her husband, Roscoe, owned and operated Burdette Camper Sales for many years.
She was a longtime member of Vanderhoof Baptist Church and an original member of the Jolly Workers. Many will remember her for her outstanding cooking, as she served many years as a cook for Lottridge School and then for the Best Photo plant.
She is survived by her husband, Roscoe; sons Scott (Sonja) of South Side, W.Va., and Jerry (Joy) of Coolville; a daughter, Shirley (Craig) Hapner of Hebron, Ky.; grandsons Steven (Janetta) Burdette, John (Jill) Burdette and Ryan McKinley; granddaughters, Stephanie (Phil) Abbott, Jill (Rich) Kasler, Jane (Kevin) Williams and Lisa (David) Jeffries; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Lou West of Albany and Eva Mae Leeth of Coolville.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Victor Clark of Coolville.
Services will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m., at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home in Coolville, with Pastor Craig Holler officiating. Burial will be in Coolville Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home today, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
