THE PLAINS -- Violet May Christian Bryan, 92, of The Plains, passed away on Monday, March 31, 2003, at Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital in Tarpon Springs, Fla.
Born Jan. 21, 1911, in The Plains, she was the daughter of the late John Edward and Tess Vernon Christian. A graduate of The Plains High School, she also was a former cook for the school and for Athens City Schools. She was a member of The Plains United Methodist Church, a charter member of The Plains Garden Club, and a member of The Plains VFW Post 7174 Ladies Auxiliary, Daughers of the American Revolution and Chauncey Senior Citizens.
She is survived by a daughter, Jeanne C. Back of Huber Heights; sons, William E. Bryan of The Plains, Millard O. (Eileen) Bryan of Holiday, Fla., Robert N. Bryan of Albany and Jimmie L. Bryan of New Port Ritchie, Fla.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Clara deTreil of New Orleans, La.; and a brother, Edward (Lucille) Christian of Marion.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Millard O. Bryan, on March 17, 1949; daughters, Bette King Dresher and Patsy Morris Brown; sisters, Mary L. Miller, Elaine Mannon, Evelyn Ratliff; and two infant sisters; brothers, Amos B. Christian and Jim Bob Christian; a son-in-law, Charles N. Back; daughters-in-law, June Morris Bryan and Donna J. Bryan; and brothers-in-law, Wilbur Miller and Frank duTreil.
Services will be held Saturday, 2 p.m., at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home in Athens, conducted by the Rev. David Roach. Burial will in The Plains Cemetery.

John Henry Reeves
Died: Monday, March 31, 2003
Age: 72
ALBANY -- John Henry Reeves, 72, of Fort Thomas, Ky., formerly of Albany, died Monday, March 31, 2003, at Veterans Administration Hospital in Cincinnati.
Born Nov. 4, 1930, in Meigs County, he was the son of the late John Henry and Francis Bratton Reeves. He was a veteran of the Korean War, a retired railroad engineer and a member of the VFW.
He is survived by two daughters, Genia Gray of Alexandria, Ky., and Marcella Reeves of Fort Thomas; a grandson, Adam Tyler Gray; four sisters, Winona (Ervin) Tippie of Frazeysburg, Margaret (Jim) Tippie of Powhaten Point, Virginia (Bulford) Brown of Athens and Kay Ice of New Marshfield; three brothers, Arthur (Patty) Reeves and Bernard (Laura) Reeves, both of Florida, and David (Wendy) Reeves of Tennessee.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence O'Donnell Bratton.
Services will be held Saturday, 11 a.m., at Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home in Albany, with Pastor Bulford Brown officiating. Burial will be in Hewitt Cemetery, with military graveside services conducted by Albany VFW Post 9893.

Vicky Ann Gillilan
Died: Monday, March 31, 2003
Age: 60
REEDSVILLE -- Vicky Ann Gillilan, 60, of Reedsville, died Monday, March 31, 2003, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Parkersburg, W.Va.
Born in Nucla, Colo., she was the daughter of Mildred Bahr Lipsey of Utah and the late Victor Lipsey. She was a homemaker.
Besides her mother, she is survived by two sons, Mark and his fiancee, Cyndie, of Pomeroy, and Victor and his wife, Shellie, of Reedsville; three grandchildren, Jeremy, Aaron and Miranda; a brother, Jim Lipsey; a sister, Joyce Branson; two special aunts, Evelyn Wells and Lila Winters; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Besides her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack.
Graveside services will be held Friday, 1 p.m., at Silver Ridge Cemetery in Reedsville, with the Rev. Chris Stewart officiating.

Pauline Myers

Age: 86
LONG BOTTOM -- Pauline Myers, 86, of Long Bottom, died Monday, March 31, 2003, at her residence.
Born July 22, 1916, in Pomeroy, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Lelah Woods Mora. She is survived by a son, William Myers, and two daughters, Sue Webster and Nola Spears. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Myers.
Services will be Thursday, 1 p.m., at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home, Coolville. Burial will be in Sandhill Cemetery, Long Bottom.

William K. Wagner
Died: Monday, March 31, 2003
Age: 89
GLOUSTER -- William K. Wagner, 89, of Glouster, passed away on Monday, March 31, 2003, at Grant Medical Center, Columbus.
Born July 9, 1913, in Marietta, he was the son of the late Herman and Elizabeth Reynolds Wagner. He was preceded in death by his wife, Freda Claire Carper Wagner.
He was a member of Amesville United Methodist Church and the United Mine Workers.
He is survived by a son, Charles Wagner; two daughters, Betty Wells and Debbie Keirns, all of Glouster; three grandchildren, Ronald Brent Poches of Glouster, Kellee Wagner of Miami, Fla., and Kevin Wagner of Atlanta, Ga.; two great-grandchildren, Krista Marie Poches and Joshua Brent Poches; two nieces, Mildred Seese of Lowell and Edith Jackson of Macksburg; three nephews, Brady Rummer of Pennsville, Herman and Howard Wagner of Macksburg; and a sister-in-law, Goldie Wagner of Macksburg.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Ollie Wagner; half brothers Brady and Arthur Harris; and a half sister, Louise Rummer.
Services will be held Friday, 3 p.m., at Cardaras Funeral Home, Glouster. Interment will be in Liberty Hill Cemetery, Morgan County.

Kathryn Miller

Age: 88
WELLSTON -- Kathryn Miller, 88, of Wellston, died Sunday, March 30, 2003, at University Hospital, Columbus.
Born Feb. 24, 1915, in Wellston, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Maude Allen. She is survived by a daughter, Sally Phillips.
Services will be Wednesday, 11 a.m., at J.P. Rogers Funeral Home, Wellston. Burial will be in Ridgewood Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m., and Wednesday morning until the time of services.
William G. Decker
Died: Sunday, March 30, 2003
Age: 84
NELSONVILLE -- William G. Decker, 84, of Nelsonville, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2003, at Southern Ohio Medical Center, Portsmouth.
Born Dec. 29, 1918, in Coshocton, he was the son of the late Joseph "Joe" and Amanda "Mandy" Decker. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, DeMarius Sanders Decker of Nelsonville.
William served in Germany with the U.S. Army during World War II, in the 99th Infantry. He served in the Battle of the Bulge, Rhineland, Remagen and Ruhr Pocket, and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of Nelsonville First Christian Church and a life member of VFW Post 3467.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Lynn Decker of Athens, Jane Ann (Jeff) Springston of Boca Raton, Fla., and Jeanmarie (Mike) Beech of Peebles; three grandchildren, Eric (Stephanie Huffman) Sullivan, Jennifer Beech and Mandy Marie (Danny) Knechtly; two great-grandchildren, Cruz Beech-Turner and Rylee Sullivan; a sister, Mary Torgler of Coshocton; and a nephew, Dick Selders of Coshocton.
Services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m., at Nelsonville First Christian Church, with the Rev. Tom Hanning officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville, with military graveside services conducted by the Combined Color Guard Unit.

Danetta Campbell

Age: 64
MURRAY CITY -- Danetta Campbell, 64, of Murray City, died Sunday, March 30, 2003, at Hocking Valley Community Hospital, Logan.
Born April 15, 1938, in Jobs, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Wavalene Johnson Bateman. She retired in 2000 from Wm. Brooks Shoe Co. after several years of employment, and was a member of American Legion Post 420 and Eagles Lodge Auxiliary 1044.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Rolyn Campbell of Murray City; a daughter, Lori White of Murray City; grandchildren Jessica and Brian Smith of Buchtel, Steven White of Murray City and Ashley White of Murray City; great-grandchildren Tyler Baber of Buchtel, Robert Smith of Buchtel and Cori Hanson of South Point; a brother and sister-in-law, Hugh Daniel and Cindy Bateman of Ray; her mother-in-law, Lena Campbell of Murray City; brothers- and sisters-in-law John and Judy Campbell of Murray City, George and Helen Addis of Buchtel; aunts and uncles Helen and Roy Keller of Columbus, Sally and Bob McFarland of Columbus; very special friends Harry and Ruth Davidson and family of Granville; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and close friends.
Services will be held Thursday, 1 p.m., at Jobs Church near Murray City, with the Rev. Ernie Perkins, Dave and Bev Shoemaker officiating. Burial will be in Carbon Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at Brown Funeral Home, Murray City, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Wenesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.; and at the church on Thursday, one hour prior to the service.
An American Legion memorial service will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., and an Eagles Auxiliary service will follow at 8.
John Patrick Walsh

Age: 87
LOGAN -- John Patrick "Jack" Walsh, 87, of Logan, died Sunday, March 30, 2003, in the emergency room at Hocking Valley Community Hospital, Logan.
Born June 10, 1915, in Logan, he was the son of the late Thomas Aloysius and Emma Catherine Lecrone Walsh.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Wagner Walsh.
Services will be held Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at St. John Catholic Church, Logan. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, with military services conducted by the Combined Veterans of Hocking County.
Friends may call at Roberts Funeral Home, Logan, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:30 p.m., where Christian vigil services will be held at 8:30.
