Thelma Cox Graham

Age: 94
BARTLETT - Thelma Cox Graham, 94, of Bartlett, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, in Marietta.
Born Sept. 22, 1909, in Trimble, she was the daughter of the late William and Stella Cline.
She is survived by children Richard Graham, Gary Graham, Janet Fortney, Beverly Williams and Helen Bailey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Graham.
Services will be Saturday, 11 a.m., at Stone-Matheney Funeral Home, Chesterhill. Burial will be in Bartlett Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where Order of Eastern Star services will be held at 8:30.

Floyd M. Smith
Died: Saturday, November 29, 2003
Age: 85
VINTON - Floyd M. Smith, 85, of Vinton, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Huntington, W.Va.
Born Dec. 1, 1917, at Salem Center, he was the son of the late Theodore Elmer and Myrta Mae Titus Smith. He was a retired stationary engineer for Ohio University and a U.S. Navy veterans. Floyd was a member of F&AM, Orphans Friend Lodge of Wilkesville and Wilkesville United Methodist Church.
He was precdeded in death by his first wife, Lula M. Smith, and by four brothers and five sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Sayre Smith, whom he married on Jan. 7, 1989; a daughter, Barbara Alvarez of Columbus; a granddaughter, Jennifer Alvarez-Enoah of Columbus; and a great-grandson, Ryan Austin Enoah of Columbus.
Services will be held Tuesday, 2 p.m., at McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton, with Pastor Bill Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in Vinton Memorial Park.

Donald E. Grimm

Age: 85
BELPRE - Donald E. Grimm, 85, of Belpre, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at Overbrook Center, Middleport.
Born June 7, 1918, in New Haven, W.Va., he was the son of the late James Elmer and Anna Lawson Grimm. He is survived by his wife, Bertha Marie Duffy Grimm.
Services will be Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Cremeens Funeral Home, Racine. Burial will be in Letart Falls Cemetery.

Raymond R. Pesek
Died: Friday, November 28, 2003
Age: 78
SHADE - Raymond R. Pesek, 78, of Bucks Lake Road, died Friday night, Nov. 28, 2003, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 4, 1925, in Cleveland, he was the son of the late Arthur and Mary Pesek and the eldest of three children.
Ray was a true part of the “Greatest Generation,” serving as a flight engineer in the Army Air Corps in the China-Burma-India Theater during World War II.
He met and married Mary Demeter in Cleveland in 1947. They had seven children, Donald (Barb), Michael (Marsha), Robert (Chris), Richard, Mary Ellen (Mark), Larry (Chrystal) and Carol (Stephen) Duda.
Ray and Mary took special interest in an international student exchange program, opening their home to many students from around the world, including Roger Eriksson from Sweden.
Ray had a love for the outdoors that he passed on to his children. His enjoyment of hunting, fishing and country living was the motivation to build their retirement home on 78 acres in Shade, where he and his wife have resided since 1988.
Nothing provided Ray more joy than to see his children, grandchildren, other family and friends visit and enjoy the pond and grounds of his “farm.”
Ray is survived by his wife, brother Ernie, sister Ruth, children and 13 grandchildren, Sara, Elizabeth, Claire, Mickey, Lauren, Quinn, Whitney, David, Christa, Mason, Gregory, Matthew and Claire-Elizabeth.
A memorial Mass will be held at Christ the King Church, Athens, today at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ the King University Parish, 75 Stewart St., Athens 45701.
Mary Margaret Gristwhite

RACINE - Mary Margaret Gristwhite, 81, of Racine, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at her residence.
Born Aug. 17, 1922, in Sistersville, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late J.R. and Stella Stokes Sandy. She is survived by her husband, Simon H. “Si” Gristwhite, and a daughter, Judy Clark.
Services will be Wednesday, 11 a.m., at McClave-Chandler-Millers Funeral Home, Steubenville. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Steubenville.

RAY - Patricia Ann Thompson Ross, 37, of Chillicothe, formerly of Vinton County, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at University Hospital, Columbus.
Born Sept. 10, 1966, in Chillicothe, she was the daughter of Dale V. and Mary L. Speakman Thompson of Ray. She is survived by her children, Anna Marie and Brandon Keith Bennett and Joyce Lynette Ross.
Services will be Tuesday at noon at Garrett Funeral Home, McArthur. Burial will be in Bell Cemetery.

McARTHUR - Gladys V. Layton, 81, of McArthur, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at Holzer Medical Center, Jackson.
She was born Nov. 23, 1922, in Pickaway County, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Ryan Brady.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alva S. Layton, and is survived by children Connie Roberts, Marilyn Ward, Brenda Gambill, Sandra Davis, and Michael and Jeffrey Layton.
Services will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Garrett Funeral Home, McArthur. Burial will be in Elk Cemetery.

ATHENS - Emma Elizabeth Fox, 94, of Pomeroy, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital.
Born March 3, 1909, in Frankfort, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth Luzateor Dailey. She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis Fox. She is survived by her daughters, Iola (Ray) Howell and Ruth Douglas.
Services will be Monday, 2 p.m., at Fisher Funeral Home, Pomeroy. Burial will be in Rocksprings Cemetery.

Phyllis Kathryn Long Davis

ATHENS - Phyllis Kathryn Long Davis, formerly of Athens, died Nov. 22, 2003, in Dallas, Texas.
Born in Athens in 1920, she graduated from Ohio Univeristy in 1941. Her parents owned Logan’s Book Store in Athens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter R. Davis, and is survived by two children, Susan Van Duzee and David Davis.
Richard Dean Dotson

Age: 61
JACKSONVILLE - Richard Dean Dotson, 61, of Jacksonville, died Nov. 18, 2003, at his residence.
Born March 8, 1924, in Bellevue, he was the son of the late Carl E. and Elizabeth Spears Dotson. He is survived by his wife, Oma Carol Miller Dotson.
A memorial service will be Sunday, 3 p.m., at Cardaras Funeral Home, Glouster.
