David Michael Beasley

COOLVILLE - David Michael Beasley, 48, of Coolville, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at Grant Medical Center, Columbus.
Born July 7, 1955, in Athens, he was the son of the late Paul H. and Doris Buck Beasley Sr.
A 1973 graduate of Athens High School, he was employed at the Athens Kroger grocery store for 30 years. He was a member of Stewart Wesleyan Church, where he was a youth Sunday school teacher. He also was on the board of We’re Family Park. Mr. Beasley was an avid amatuer photographer and enjoyed gardening. He was a loving son, husband, father and brother.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Gail Coen Beasley; a daughter, Amanda Beasley, of Delaware; a son, Christopher Beasley of Coolville; sisters, Eleesa (James) Farley of Bel Air, Md., and Teresa Boudreaux of Athens; a brother, Paul H. “Skip” (Brenda) Beasley of Mesa, Ariz.; his father- and mother-in-law, Pearl and Wanda Coen of Coolville; sister-in-law, Dale (Carl) Inman of Grove City; brothers-in-law, Sam Coen of Columbus and Arthur (Desirea) Coen of Glouster; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Dustin Michael Beasley.
Funeral services will be Sunday, 2 p.m., at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home, with Pastor Roger McCoy officiating. Burial will be in Stewart Cemetery.

Russell Richard Lanning
Died: Wednesday, December 31, 2003
Age: 72
MURRAY CITY - Russell Richard “Russ” Lanning, 72, of Somerset, formerly of Murray City, died at 12:05 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at his residence.
Russ was born May 26, 1931, in Misco, son of the late Zephaniah and Maude Wolfe Lanning. Russ was a Korean Army veteran and a member of Somerset American Legion Leo Ryan Post 58 and Somerset VFW. He was a retired auto mechanic.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Effie Kreitz Lanning of the home; three sons, Richard Allen (Colleen) Lanning of New Vienna, Zephaniah “Buddy” (Beverly) Lanning of Florida and Michael Douglas of Somerset; a daughter, Mary Susan (David) Thompson of Grove City; eight grandchildren and a great-grandson; three sisters, Annalee Campbell of Florida, Judy Hollinshead of Newark and Marjorie Irvin of Canton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Janice and Barbara Lanning; and a brother, George Lanning.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset, where services will be held at 8 p.m. Friday.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Salem Cemetery, with Somerset American Legion Post 58 providing military honors.
Harriet Beth Pritchard
Died: Tuesday, December 30, 2003
Age: 68
NELSONVILLE - Harriet Beth Pritchard, 68, of Nelsonville, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at her son’s residence in Lebanon.
She was born May 31, 1935, in Dexter City, daughter of the late Lloyd Gray and Katherine Croy Gray.
The reitred teacher was a member of the Order of Easter Star and a lifelong member of the Church of the Epiphany Episcopal Church of Nelsonville.
She is survived by her sons, David (Pam) Pritchard of Lebanon and Jeff (Karen) Pritchard of Fredericktown; her former husband, Gene Pritchard of Nelsonville; grandchildren, Lindy, Tyler and Austin Pritchard of Lebanon, Amber (Lance) Rasnake of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Ian, Addie and Kinxey Pritchard of Fredericktown; a sister, Jill (Jack) Dyer of Jacksonville, Fla.; and niece Laurie Dyer and nephew Clay Dyer of Jacksonville.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of the Epiphany in Nelsonville, officiated by the Rev. Katharin Foster. Burial will be in Caldwell Cemetery in Caldwell.
Calling hours will be Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. and 1 hour prior to the services at the church.
Harold A. Pedicord
Died: Monday, December 22, 2003
Age: 82
GLOUSTER - Harold A. Pedicord, 82, of Glouster, passed away on Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at Bethesda Hospital, Zanesville.
Born Sept. 15, 1921, in Morgan County, he was the son of the late Dean L. and Edith Phillips Pedicord. He retired from Burr Oak State Park and attended Fairview Holiness Mission in Morgan County.
He is survived by two daughters, Karen (Roger) Mingus of Glouster, and Marsha Pedicord and special friend, Benny Jones, of Glouster; two grandchildren, Rhonda Mingus and Ronnie (Teri) Mingus, both of Glouster; a great-granddaughter, Adrieonna; a twin brother, Garold Pedicord of Bremen; and a sister, Wahneta Rutherford of Bremen.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorotha Nichols Pedicord.
Services will be held Saturday, 1 p.m., at Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville, with the Rev. Arnold VanHorn officiating. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Glouster, where military graveside services will be conducted by the Combined Color Guard Unit.

Glenn Edward McDaniel

GLOUSTER - Glenn Edward McDaniel, 89, of Glouster, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at Hickory Creek Nursing Center, The Plains.
Born Nov. 3, 1914, in Athens County, he was the son of the late John McDaniel and Mary Simons McDaniel Morris. He was a 1933 graduate of Ames-Bern High School and a member of Hooper Ridge Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Antle McDaniel, whom he married on Oct. 12, 1942; two sons and daughters-in-law, George W. “Bill” and Carolyn McDaniel of Pomeroy, Paul E. and Charlene McDaniel of Belpre; five grandchildren, Rochelle (William) Lawless of Middleport, Roxanne McDaniel (Sean O’Malley) of Chicago, Ill., Brant (Kristin) McDaniel of Parkersburg, W.Va., Todd (Nikki) McDaniel of Belpre, and Kristen McDaniel of Parkersburg; five great-grandchildren, Delana Eichinger and Cara Lawless of Middleport, Alex and Margot O’Malley of Chicago, Ill., and Hannah McDaniel of Belpre; a brother and sister-in-law, Siebert and Betty McDaniel of LaMont, Mo.; a sister, Eileene Bidwell of ElCentro, Calif.; a brother-in-law and his wife, Darrell and Frances Antle of Athens.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mae Koker and Ada Lawrence.
Services will be held Saturday, 1 p.m., at Hooper Ridge Church of Christ, with Pastor Don Seavers officiating. Burial will be in Hooper Ridge Cemetery.

ATHENS - Grace E. Richardson, 89, of Athens, died unexpectedly, Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at her home.
Born Oct. 9, 1914, in Pomeroy, she was the daughter of the late Hollie and Edna Carsey Hawk.
Grace was a graduate of Chauncey High School. She retired from Ohio University’s Alden Library and was a member of Richland Avenue United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two nieces, Yvonne Colleen Brickles of Shade and Ladona Garoldene (John) Stephens of Shade; and nine grandnieces and grandnephews, Lynette, Steve, Tami, Diana, Kim, Tom, Tony, Tonya and Jamie.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Healey Richardson; a sister, Audra Hayes; and a nephew, Hollie Hayes.
Services will be held Saturday, 1 p.m., at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens, with Norman Coleman officiating. Burial will be in Alexander Cemetery.

LOGAN - Gladys R. Flowers, 72, of Logan, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, in Logan.
Born Oct. 20, 1931, in Hocking County, she was the daughter of the late Ralph J. Flowers and Vergie Pittman Flowers.
She is survived by her daughters, Marcella Canzonetta and Alicia Semenchuk; and a son, Allen Semenchuk.
Services will be Sunday, 2 p.m., at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Hocking County.

James Daft
Died: Monday, December 22, 2003
Age: 78
ATHENS - James ‘Jack’ Daft, 78, of Athens, died early Monday morning, Dec. 22, 2003, at his home.
Born in Athens on Oct. 26, 1925, he was a son of the late Willard and Ila Knox Daft. He was a retired lineman of 37 years service with American Electric Power. A 1943 graduate of Athens High School, he was a veteran of the Navy, having served in the South Pacific on the USS Manatee. A member of New Marshfield Constitution Lodge 426 Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio, Athens Elks Lodge, K.T. Crossen Post 21 of the American Legion, Athens VFW 3477 and Athens AMVETS.
Mr. Daft is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nancy Sanders Daft; a daughter, Sarah Ann (Jack) Oakley of Buchtel; sons, Kenny (Cheryl) Ewing of Athens, Tim (Jane) Ewing of Coshocton, Tom (Steffany) Daft of Newark and Jay (Jennifer) Daft of Raleigh, N.C.; grandchildren, Heather (Heath) Clemens of The Plains, Paige, Tyler and Mitchell Ewing of Coshocton, Julia and Jacob Daft and Justin and Joseph Bee, all of Raleigh, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Kaden Edie, Taylor Clemens and Dru Clemens; and a sister, Betty (Bob) Wakefield of Athens.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob and Vern Daft.
Services will be Saturday, 2 p.m., at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. David Roach. Burial will be in West Union Street Cemetery.
