Dallas William McCune
COSHOCTON - Dallas William McCune, 72, of Coshocton, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at Coshocton County Memorial Hospital, Coshocton.
Born July 7, 1928, in Plantsville, Ohio, he was the son of Archie and Nellie Fawcett McCune.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Emma Kille McCune; and two daughters, Ellen West and Jackie Mishler.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Stone-Metheny Funeral Home in Chesterhill. Burial will be in Chesterhill Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Dennis Weekley
ATHENS - Dennis Weekley, 50, of Lakewood, Calif., died at his home on Monday, Jan. 8, 2001.
He was the son of Victor Weekley of St. Helen, Mich., and the late Bernice Helena Gaston. He was a 1968 graduate of Athens High School and a graduate of Ohio University.
He is survived by a daughter, Alison Weekley of Lakewood; a son, Joshua Weekley of Lakewood; sisters Victoria Ervin of Galion and Pamela Staley of Huntsville, Ala.; and a special friend, Lori Cassar of Lakewood.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, 2:30 p.m., at Athens Memory Gardens, with Msgr. Patrick Gaughan officiating.
Friends may call at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home, Athens, on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Donald Goins
AMESVILLE - Donald L. Goins, 51, of Plantsville Road, Amesville, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 28, 1949, in Chesterhill, son of Helen Mayle Goins of Amesville and the late George Goins.
He is survived by three sons, Donald, Allen and Matthew Goins; and a daughter, Diana Goins.
Services will be held Sunday, 1:30 p.m., at Mount Hermon Church. Burial will be in Mount Hermon Cemetery.
Friends may call at Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill on Saturday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and at the church one hour prior to services.

Earl Jenkins
CORNING - Earl W. Jenkins, 79, of Corning, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001, at Sunbridge of New Lexington care facility.
He was born Oct. 17, 1921, in Pike Twp., Perry County, son of the late William and Gertrude Ketcham Jenkins. He was employed by the Southern Local and Columbus school boards, and was a member of Bear Run Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Company B of the 315th Engineers. He was a member of Johnstown Community Sportsman Club.
He is survived by a daughter, Odessa Kelley of Dayton; a son, Ricky Jenkins of Buckeye Lake; a stepdaughter, Judith Pryor of Corning; a stepson, Rolland Braglin of Newark; a sister, Lola (Edward) Mongentry of Cambridge; a brother, Lloyd S. Jenkins of Zanesville; seven grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Rose Braglin Jenkins; a daughter, LuAnn Speakman; and a sister, Ester Culver.
Funeral services will be Friday, 1 p.m., at J.E. Humphrey Funeral Home, 118 W. Walnut St., Shawnee, with Pastor Jeff Armburst officiating. Burial will be in Springer Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and after 6 p.m.

Earl Hooper
ATHENS - Earl A. Hooper, 80, of Athens, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens.
He was born Aug. 22, 1920, in Athens, son of the late Britton Lash Hooper and Lena Woodworth Hooper. He was a 1938 graduate of Athens High School, attended Ohio University, and was a graduate of The Hartford School of Insurance, Hartford, Conn. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a flight engineer on B-29s.
In 1992, after 37 years in the insurance business, he retired as president of Mathews Insurance Inc. in Athens. Prior to his career in insurance, he was general manager of Nye Chevrolet Inc. in Athens and Nelsonville. He was a member of K.T. Crossen Post American Legion 21.
Mr. Hooper was past president of the Kiwanis Club of Athens, past lieutenant governor of Division 9, Kiwanis International; and, at the time of his death, was a member of Athens Noon Rotary Club.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mildred Yeager Hooper; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Gloria Hooper of Athens; a daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Dave Pellior of Galloway; two granddaughters, Christine and Brittany Hooper of Athens; two grandsons, Thomas Sommer of Chicago, Ill., and Robert Sommer of Galloway; two step-grandchildren, Jill and Josh Pellior of Galloway; a brother-in-law, Gabriel Pincelli of California; and a sister-in-law, Cora Mae Hooper of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Martha Hooper Pincelli of California; and his brother, George B. Hooper of Florida.
Services will be held Sunday, 2 p.m., at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tom Hanover officiating. Burial will be in Athens Memory Gardens.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the McClure Athens Education Foundation, c/o Athens High School, The Plains 45780; or a charity of choice.

Frances McDonald
LOGAN - Frances Ellen McDonald, 53, of Logan, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001, at Rockmill Rehabilitation Center, Lancaster, following a brief illness.
She was born July 14, 1947, in Athens, daughter of the late Richard O. and Hazel Pierce Heller. Mrs. McDonald was a postal worker for the Haydenville Post Office, and a former employee of Wm. Brooks Shoe Co. factory in Nelsonville and CrossRoads East in Logan. She was a 1966 graduate of Chauncey-Dover High School, and an active participant in water aerobics.
She is survived by her husband, Robert G. McDonald Sr. of Logan; sons Gregory (Jenny) McDonald of Stewart, Todd McDonald of Alexandria, Va., and Robert G. McDonald Jr. of Logan; a daughter, Rebecca McDonald of Logan; granddaughters Amanda and Ashley McDonald of Stewart, and Stephanie Warren of Logan; brothers Charles (Neva) Heller of Virginia Beach, Va., Richard (Susan) Heller of Zaleski, and John Heller of Glendale, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Jean Heller.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, 1:30 p.m., at Roberts Funeral Home in Logan, with the Rev. Paul A. Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Knollwood Cemetery, Falls Twp., Hocking County.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, Hocking County Unit, P.O. Box 944, Logan 43138.

Franklin Whitmore
NELSONVILLE - Franklin E. Whitmore, 65, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Nelsonville, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 25, 1935, in Nelsonville, son of the late Edward and Adrian Coe Whitmore. He is married to Sally Schrader Whitmore of Phoenix.
He was an Ohio University graduate and loyal OU supporter for many years. Frank was vice president of manufacturing at Anchor Hocking Corp., president of Midland Glass, and vice president of engineering at Anchor Glass Container. He retired in 1991. At the time of his death, he was CEO for Eftek Corp.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, was of the Presbyterian faith, and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the Elks and Moose lodges.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Stephen "Tony" Whitmore of Monterey, Calif.; an aunt, Wanda; two uncles, Warren and Gerald; and a half sister, Gloria Allen.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Whitmore; a brother, Kenny Whitmore; and an uncle, Thomas.
Mr. Whitmore was cremated in Phoenix. A memorial service will be held Saturday, 11 a.m., at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, Nelsonville, with the Rev. Harold McConnell officiating. Burial will be in Whitmore Cemetery, Buchtel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Nelsonville Alumni Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 472, Nelsonville 45764; or Ohio University Foundation, P.O. Box 869, Athens 45701-0869.

Hazel Gaston
ATHENS - Hazel Gaston, 89, of Athens, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg, W.Va..
Born Aug. 5, 1911, in Zaleski, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Minta Jones Webb. She was a graduate of Zaleski High School. She was a Christian all her life, member of the Freewill Baptist Church, and formerly worked for the Salvation Army and the Fair Store on Court Street.
She is survived by her husband, Harry Richard Gaston; a son, Herbert Knapper and special friend Hazel Campbell of Winchester, Ky.; two sisters, Mary Ellen Rider of Zaleski and Lula Williams of Galion; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, an infant son, three brothers and two sisters.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens, with Wilbert Lowe officiating. Burial will be in Athens Memory Gardens.
Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the services.

Jack Metcalf
CHAUNCEY - Jack T. Metcalf, 72, died unexpectedly late Tuesday morning, Jan. 9, 2001, at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Athens County on Feb. 7, 1928, son of the late Don and Catherine Conrath Metcalf. He was a retired electrician, having worked 40 years for Union Local 972. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of The Plains VFW Post 7174 and Appalachian Horse & Mule Association/American Belgian Association, and was a graduate of The Plains High School.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn O'Rouke Metcalf; a daughter, Rebecca Metcalf of Chauncey; a son, Jack (Rhonda) Metcalf Jr. of Jacksonville, N.C.; grandchildren, Jack T. Metcalf III of Washington, Pa., and Jessica and James Metcalf of Jacksonville; sisters Rosalee (Murven) DeWeese of The Plains, Mary Lou (Richard) Sietz of Mount Gilead, and Susie (David) Douglas of Columbus; and a brother, Thomas (Thelma) Metcalf of Coolville.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Metcalf; and a brother, Richard Metcalf.
Graveside services will be held Friday, 1 p.m., at Hilltop Cemetery, with the Rev. John Elswick officiating.
Friends may call at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home, Athens, Friday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

James Moore
LOGAN- James J. Moore, 68, of Logan, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001 at Hocking Valley Community Hospital, Logan.
Born in Haydenville on Feb. 20, 1932, he was the son of the late Porter P. and Kathryn Cheshire Moore. He was retired from Carborundum in Logan.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Anne Wollet Moore; his daughter, Retha Nutter of New Straitsville; a grandchild, Bryan (Kelly) Nutter of Logan; and two brothers, Paul (Bonnie) Moore of Logan and Herb (Jean) Moore of Vinton in Gallia County.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan, with Rev. Rick Bennington officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Logan.
Calling hours at the funeral home are today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Julia Camp
WELLSTON - Julia Camp, 82, of Wellston, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, at Jenkins Memorial Nursing Facility, Wellston.
She was born Jan. 15, 1918, in Vinton County, daughter of the late James and Nora Ward Salmons.
She is survived by daughters Betty Potts, Karen Angles and Joyce Krahel.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elza O. Camp.
Private graveside services for the family will be held Wednesday, 4:30 p.m., at Elk Cemetery, McArthur. There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are by Garrett Funeral Home in McArthur.
