Freda Wagner
GLOUSTER - Freda Claire Wagner, 88, of Glouster, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at her residence.
Born May 6, 1912, in Darwin, she was the daughter of the late Bates and Alcinda Biggs Carper. She is survived by her husband, WIlliam K. Wagner.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Cardaras Funeral Home, Glouster. Burial will be in Liberty Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from noon to 2 p.m.

Myrtle Jordan
McARTHUR - Myrtle M. Potter Jordan, 79, of McArthur, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at Ohio State University Hospital.
Born May 17, 1921, in Shelby, she was the daughter of the late Hiram Samuel and Mary Hicks Laferty.
She is survived by her husband, Foster Jordan, and children, Margaret Winters, Richard Jordan, William Jordan, Gary Potter, Roger Jordan and David Potter. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Robert Potter.
Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at McArthur Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will be in Elk Cemetery.
Friends may call at Garrett Funeral Home, McArthur, on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m., and one hour prior to the services at the church on Tuesday.
Contributions may be made to the family in the care of Garrett Funeral Home, P.O. Box 302, McArthur 45651.

Mary Woolery
HILLIARD - Mary Virginia Woolery, 80, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, at Mill Run Care Center, Hilliard, after an extended illness.
Born Oct. 24, 1919, at Maple Hill, Athens County, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Bessie Lennox Mulligan. She was a homemaker and a 1937 graduate of Nelsonville High School.
She is survived by a son, David Louis Woolery of Dublin; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Lou and Bruce Dickson of Apex, N.C., and Patricia Ann and Heinz Schubert of Johannesburg, South Africa; and a brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Eileen Mulligan of Reynoldsburg.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis A. Woolery, in 1977.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, Logan, with the Rev. Robert E. Dauber officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville.
Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Mary Johnson
NELSONVILLE - Mary Lucille Johnson, 80, of Nelsonville, passed away Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at Russell Nursing Home in Albany.
She was born July 20, 1920, in Chauncey, the daughter of the late William and Clara McGhee Johnson.
She is survived by a sister, Helen (Mel) Smart of Buchtel; and many nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Susan (Phil) Faires of Glouster.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Madeline Corwin; and four brothers, Paul, Bob, Louie and Bill Johnson.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home in Nelsonville. Interment was in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Dorothy Baird
ATHENS - Dorothy L. Baird, 84, of Athens, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, at 9:15 p.m., at the home of her son in Hamilton.
She was born in Dayton, daughter of Roy Emerson and Anna Boham Linville. She married Frank C. Baird on June 15, 1940, in Youngstown, and he preceded her in death in 1981. She was an honor graduate of Denison University, a member of the United Methodist Church in Berea, an avid bridge player and a volunteer at Southwest General Hospital, Berea.
She is survived by her son, John R. Baird, and wife, Lynn, of Hamilton; three brothers, Norman Linville of Richmond, Va., Gordon Linville of Youngstown, and Malcolm Linville of Chardon; four grandchildren, Molly Christine Morgan and her fiancee, Tim Meyer, of Pickerington, Michael Todd Morgan of North Charleston, S.C., and Leslie Winter Baird and Rebecca Linville Baird, both of Hamilton. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Judith Karen Morgan in March 2000, and a brother, Melvin Linville.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, noon, at Athens First United Methodist Church, 2 College St. in Athens. Memorial contributions may be made to James Cancer Hospital, in care of Ohio State University, 10th and Neal Aves., Columbus 43210-1228; or Vitas Hospice, PMB:137, 407 Vine St., Cincinnati 45202-2806. Weigel Funeral Home is serving the family.

Donise Rader
WELLSTON - M. Donise Stroth Rader, 78, of 112 N. New Jersey Ave., Wellston, died early Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, after a long illness.
Born in Wellston, she was the daughter of the late Lowry B. "Fitz" and Dorothy Stroth.
Besides raising her family, her busy and rewarding life included graduating from Ohio State University, where she was a member of Delta Omicron music sorority and earned an English degree major and a music minor. Her love of music allowed her to participate in the once nationally popular Major Bowes' Radio Show in New York City. She was fortunate to have traveled all over the world, and visited many diverse cultures.
Prior to her illness, she enjoyed playing golf with friends and helping with the family tree farm business.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas, a retired U.S.A.F. colonel; daughter Linda and son-in-law, James, and granddaughter Jamie of Cleveland, Ohio; son John of Wellston; and son Steven and daughter-in-law La Rae and grandson Sean of Wellston.
A memorial service will be held Sept. 10 at 1 p.m. at Jenkins Funeral Chapel, Wellston.

John Lewis
BUCHTEL - John R. "Rob" Lewis, 78, of 8583 Newton Falls Road, Wayland, died 8:11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000, at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna.
He was born Aug. 9, 1922, in Buchtel, son of Bert and Louise Dearing Lewis, and moved to Wayland in 1964 from Paris Twp.
Mr. Lewis was a press operator at Falls Steel Tube for more than 30 years before retiring in 1988.
He served in the Army during World War II, was a member of Newton Falls Veterans of Foreign Wars, Newton Falls AMVETS and Lake Milton American Legion.
Mr. Lewis enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
Survivors include his special friend, Mary Jane Grimwood of Wayland; two sisters, Clara Russell of Akron and Edith Johnson of Lordstown; a brother, Charles of Detroit; and several nieces and nephews.
Two sisters, Leona Wilson and Mary Johnson; and four brothers, Paul, James, Earl and Leonard Lewis, are deceased.
The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday at James Funeral Home in Wayland, where friends may call today from 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will be Newton Falls Cemetery.

Martin Argabright
WELLSTON - Martin "Newt" Argabright, 85, of Morgan Center, Gallia County, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, at Arbors of Gallipolis.
He was born Sept. 28, 1914, in Wellston, son of the late George and Gertrude Boring Argabright.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Ward Argabright; two sons, Keith and Bob; and a stepdaughter, Kendra Ward.
Services will be held today, 1 p.m., at Jenkins Funeral Home in Wellston. Burial will be in Hamilton Cemetery.

Jeanette Duffy
SYRACUSE - Jeanette K. Duffy, 56, of Third Street in Syracuse, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000, at the emergency department of Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis.
She was born Nov. 19, 1943, in Minersville, daughter of Icy Roush Miller of Pomeroy and the late Thomas Burton Miller.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Duffy; and three sons, Jack Jr., Eddie and David Duffy.
Services will be held Saturday, 1 p.m., at Cremeens Funeral Home in Racine. Burial will be in Letart Falls Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, 6 to 9 p.m.

Edith Covella
GLOUSTER - Edith Marie Covella, 78, of Glouster, passed away Friday, Sept. 22, 2000, at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens.
She was born Feb. 25, 1922, in Glouster, daughter of the late Fred and Gladys Williams Ivers. She was the wife of the late James V. Covella, who passed away in 1999.
She was a homemaker and a member of Glouster Church of Christ.
She is survived by three sons, Lewis (Midge) Covella of Bellevue, Terry (Terry Lynn) Covella of Kendallville, Ind., and Tom (Judy) Covella of Crooksville; a daughter, Lucinda (David) Clary of Kansas City, Mo.; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Pastol of Glouster.
She was preceded in death by an infant son; and a sister, Audrey Rice.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m., at Glouster Church of Christ, with James Osborne officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Glouster.
Friends may call at Cardaras Funeral Home in Glouster today from 5 to 8 p.m., and on Tuesday one hour prior to services.

Earl Poling
LOGAN - Earl Gale Poling, 88, of Logan, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, at Hocking Valley Community Hospital.
Born Dec. 7, 1911, in Marion Twp., he was the son of the late John William and Clara Belle Kistler Poling. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Retha Marie Deible Poling.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, Logan, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.

Margie Bevins
WELLSTON - Margie Thompson Bevins, 51, of Wellston, formerly of Athens, died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000, at Charleston Medical Center as the result of a motorcycle accident Saturday near Reno.
She was born June 9, 1949, in Athens, daughter of Lloyd and Dorothy Smith Thompson of Athens. She was a 1967 graduate of Rome-Canaan High School and was a production associate for T.S. Trim of Athens. She was a former employee of Judy's Dress Shop of Athens and a former Mary Kay consultant.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Donald Henry of Wellston; a son, James Dewey Dailey of Wellston; grandchildren Kaylin and Bradley James Henry of Wellston; sisters Patty (Bob) Barnhart of Guysville, and Penny (Tony) Brooks of Guysville; a brother, Sonny Thompson of Athens; her fiancé, Mike Shaver of Gallipolis; special friends Lois Shaver of Gallipolis, and Cindy Angle of Fridays Harbor, Wash.; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James E. Dailey.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, 2 p.m., at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home in Athens, with Pastor Rob Ervin officiating. Burial will be in Canaanville Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m.

Jessie Ferrell
POMEROY- Jessie Justice Ferrell, 81, of Pomeroy, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2000, at University Hospital, Columbus.
Born June 23, 1919 in Ottavia, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Landon and Josephine Hall Hackney. She is survived by children Stella Smith, Fonia Allen and Brian Justice.
Services are Friday at 11 a.m. at Hysell Run Holiness Church, Pomeroy. Burial is in Meigs Memory Gardens.
Calling hours are Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Birchfield Funeral Home, Rutland.
