Robert Bethel
McARTHUR - Robert Edwin Bethel, 78, of McArthur, and a winter resident of Key Largo, Fla., for the past 25 years, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, at his residence in McArthur.
He was born Sept. 10, 1922, in McArthur, son of the late Percy J. and Myrtle Smith Bethel. He served two terms as a Vinton County commissioner, was the original owner of the Steer Inn in McArthur, and co-owner of Bethel Sohio. Mr. Bethel was a Coast Guard veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific. He remained in the Navy and Air Force Reserves after the war.
He is survived by his wife, Georgia Henderson Bethel; a son, J. Robert Bethel; a daughter, Barbara Ann Bethel; and a grandson, Joshua Agustus Bethel, all of McArthur; and a brother, John Arthur (Nelda) Bethel of McArthur.
As Mr. Bethel's requested, cremation has taken place. There will be no services or calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holzer Hospice, 16 N. Ohio Ave., Wellston 45692.
Arrangements were by Garrett Funeral Home in McArthur.
Raymond Landers
POMEROY - Raymond H. Landers, 73, of Nye Avenue in Pomeroy, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, at Pleasant Valley Hospital in Point Pleasant, W.Va.
He was born Jan. 6, 1927, in Pomeroy, son of the late Charles A. and Eliza Gregory Landers.
He is survived by children Hoby M. Landers, Mark A. Landers and Roberta Sellers.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ellennora Joan Landers.
Services will be held Friday, 1 p.m., at Ewing Funeral Home in Pomeroy. Burial will be in Gilmore Cemetery.

Paul Klein
POMEROY - Paul E. Klein, 42, of Pomeroy, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, at Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus.
Born Jan. 7, 1958, in Pomeroy, he was the son of the late Henry and Virgie Russell Klein.
He is survived by a daughter, Jessica Ackerman.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. Fisher Funeral Home in Pomeroy. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery.

Myrtle Folden
WELLSTON - Myrtle M. Folden, 89, of Wellston, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens.
She was born on Nov. 10, 1910, in Jackson, daughter of the late Vernie and Annabelle Lock Summers.
She is survived by a son, Clarence Folden.
Services will be announced by Jason R. Winters Funeral Chapel.
Marie Seitz
McARTHUR - Marie M. Clary Seitz, 89, of Edison, formerly of Vinton County, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, at Woodside Village Care Center in Mount Gilead.
She was born March 21, 1911, in Eagle Twp., Vinton County, daughter of the late Leonard and Rosa Mae Thompson Clary.
She is survived by daughters Ruth Wuertz and Rita Sams.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold T. Seitz.
Services will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Garrett Funeral Home in McArthur. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Vinton County.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, 4 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any charity of choice.
Marie Ackley
ATHENS - Marie Ackley of Columbus died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, at her residence.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vern and Sadie Morris Ackley; a brother, Carl Ackley; and a sister, Esta Ackley Bryson.
She is survived by a son, George Douglas; grandchildren Susan Gatewood, Denise Burkhard and David Wayne Douglas; six great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter; sisters, Irene Sickles of Athens and Dorothy Strawser of Columbus; brothers, Clarence Ackley of Nelsonville, Ernest Ackley and Pearl Ackley of Columbus, Vern Ackley and Robert Ackley of Portsmouth.
There will be no funeral services. Arrangements are by Schoedinger Midtown Chapel, 229 E. State St., Columbus.
Lena Miller
LOGAN - Lena Irene Miller, 53, of Logan, died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 27, 1947, in Hocking County, daughter of Thomas E. Miller Sr. of Logan, and the late Mary Magdeline Sigler Miller.
Services will be held Friday, 10 a.m., at Cardaras Funeral Home in Logan. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.

John Wickline
ATHENS - John R. Wickline, 43, of Marshfield Road in Athens, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000.
He was born Aug. 7, 1957, in Columbus, son of Paul Wickline of Mount Sterling and Mary E. Ealey Yoe of Piketon.
He was a former manager for Carter Plumbing, Heating and Electric of Athens, a laborer for C&E Midwest Construction of Columbus, and a farmer. He was a member of Hocking Valley Sportsman Club, the Elks Lodge and BPOE of Athens.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his stepmother, Dolly Wickline of Mount Sterling; his fiancee, Llori Stump; a daughter, Victoria Wells of Circleville; two brothers, Michael E. Wickline and Jerry A. Wickline, both of Piketon; and special friends Mike Waggoner, Joan Waggoner, Jessica Buckley and Mark Mace.
Services will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Boyer Funeral Home in Waverly, with the Rev. Bubby Stevens officiating. Burial will be in Ladd Ridge Cemetery, Pike County.

LOGAN - Jeffrey W. Eggleston Sr., 42, of Logan, died Friday, Oct. 27, 2000, at his residence.
Born April 18, 1958, in Nelsonville, he was the son of Don R. Eggleston and Sylvia Todd Eggleston Brown.
He is survived by his wife, Pam Harden Eggleston; and two children, Jeffrey W. Eggleston Jr. and Drew E. Eggleston.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Cardaras Funeral Home in Logan. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.

James Welch
COOLVILLE - James Larry "Bucky" Welch, 37, of Jacksonville, N.C., died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville, N.C.
He was born July 25, 1963, son of Larry Welch of Coolville and the late Marlene Westfall Welch. He was a Marine veteran, a warehouse manager for Raven's Aluminum in Jacksonville, a 1981 graduate of Eastern High School, and a member of Mustang Car Club.
Besides his father, he is survived by his wife, Edna Welch; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Mike and Lisa Welch and Steven Welch, all of Coolville.; a sister and brother-in-law, Tammy and Frank Parker of Oak Hill, W.Va.; and four nieces.
Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Sabrina Welch.
Services will be held Sunday, 1 p.m., at White Funeral Home in Coolville, with the Rev. George Horner officiating. Burial will be in Tuppers Plains Christian Cemetery.

Helen Quest
ALBANY - Helen M. Quest, 84, of Route 681 in Albany, died Saturday evening, Oct. 28, 2000, at Riverside Hospital in Columbus.
She was born Aug. 16, 1916, in Athens, daughter of the late Delbert C. and Nora Matthews Gibson. She was a member of Alexander Presbyterian Church, a resident of Selby Road for 28 years and a former resident of North Congress Street in Athens. She was formerly employed by the Katherine Figg Shop for Women and Altman's. Mrs. Quest was a 1934 graduate of Athens High School.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Hal P. Quest; three daughters, Linda (Phil) Mazza of Athens, Susan (Todd) Beitelschees of Delaware, Ohio, and Cynthia (Gary) Klotzle of Ravenna; five grandchildren, Sean P. (Christine) Gabriel of Jacksontown, David Bryan (Andrea) Gabriel of Baltimore, Ohio, Erin Beitelschees of Delaware, Lauren Margaret Beitelschees of Delaware, and Colburn Klotzle of Ravenna; and three great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, David Hal Quest, in 1949; two sisters, Pearl Taylor and Clara Green; and six brothers, Clarence, Charles, Ernest, John, Raymond "Gibby" and Fred Gibson.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, 4 p.m., at Alexander Cemetery, with Pastor Ed Brown officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Alexander Presbyterian Church.
Calling hours will not be observed, at Mrs. Quest's request. Arrangements are by Jagers and Sons Funeral Home in Athens.
Helen Howdyshell
LOGAN - Helen June Howdyshell, 93, of Logan, died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000, at Hocking Valley Community Hospital.
She was born June 19, 1907, in Oblong, Ill., daughter of the late James Garfield and Sarah Ann Armour Wildermuth.
Services will be held Saturday, 2 p.m., at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home in Logan. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
