Carl Williams
GUYSVILLE - Carl E. Williams, 70, of Greiner Road, Guysville, died unexpectedly Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000, at his home.
He was born Nov. 24, 1929, in Guysville, son of the late Raymond and Pearl Atherton Williams. He retired from Bank One in Athens after 26 years' employment, and was formerly employed by Ohio University. He attended school on Mill School Road and at Lottridge High School. He had lived in the South Rodehaver Road and Flanders-Greiner Road area all his life.
He is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Gary) Lanning of Guysville, and Susan (Jack) Gilkey of Guysville; two sons, John (Patricia) Williams of Anchorage, Alaska, and Don (Rhonda) Williams of Guysville; 11 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Opal Castle.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home in Athens, with Pastor Lonnie Coats officiating. Burial will be in Asbury Cemetery, Carthage Twp.

Carl Altier
NELSONVILLE - Carl L. Altier, 69, of Nelsonville, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, at University Medical Center in Columbus.
He was born March 24, 1931, son of the late Carl A. and Mary Corby Altier.
He owned and operated Altiers Complete Tree Service of Nelsonville, was a member of St. Mary's of the Hills Catholic Church in Buchtel, a lifetime member of BPOE 543 and VFW 3467 of Nelsonville, a charter member of the Nelsonville Police Auxiliary, and a member of FOE 391 of Nelsonville and Logan Moose Lodge 873. He was a Marine Corps veteran serving in Korea, and a former employee of the Logan Carborundum plant.
He is survived by his wife, Jennie Davis Altier; a son and his fiancee, Carl L. Altier III and Roni Keiser of Lancaster; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Patricia Altier of Nelsonville; a grandson and his wife, Corey and Sandi Altier of Nelsonville; a granddaughter and her friend, Jody Altier and Chris Hall of Logan; grandsons, Jan M. Altier of Nelsonville and Brandon Bailey of Lancaster; great-granddaughters, Tyann A. Altier of Millfield and KyLeigh Altier of Nelsonville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael and Jean Altier of Tybee Island, Ga., Paul and Shirley Altier of Nelsonville, and Ron and Karen Altier of West Lafayette; a brother and his special friend, David Altier and Jackie Sayre of Stewart; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pauline and Herb Riegler of Naples, Fla., and Helen and Lon Adams of Columbus; a sister, Rita Hillis of Dublin, Calif.; brothers-in-law and their wives, Darrow and Brenda Tolliver of Nelsonville, Charles and Dorothy Davis of Delaware, and David and Eve Davis of San Antonio, Texas; a sister-in-law, Marie Richards of Gallipolis; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and a friend, Heather Six of Millfield.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Josephine Wray, Alouise Altier and Marjorie Tolliver; grandsons Mark Altier and Bryan Altier; and a nephew, Rocky Tolliver.
Services will be held Thursday, 1:30 p.m., at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Glouster, with the Rev. Fr. John Mucha officiating. Burial will be in Connett Cemetery, Athens County, with military graveside services conducted by the Combined Color Guard Unit.
Friends may call at Warren-Brown Funeral Home in Nelsonville on Wednesday, 2 to 9 p.m. The Elks Lodge will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. Wednesday, and a Christian Wake service will be held at 8, both at the funeral home.

Wilma Ballard
LONG BOTTOM - Wilma Marie Ballard, 77, of Long Bottom, died at her residence on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000.
She was born in Bashan on Aug. 11, 1923, and was a daughter of the late Grover C. Sr. and Locie Pearl Groves White.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph Ballard; two sons, Melvin and David Ballard; and daughter Brenda VanDyke.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Ewing Funeral Home, Pomeroy. She will be buried at White Family Cemetery in Bashan.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 5 to 9 p.m.

Joseph Vititoe
NELSONVILLE - Joseph F. Vititoe, 71, of Nelsonville, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000, at Pine Hills Nursing Center, Nelsonville.
He was born July 12, 1929, in Lawrence County, son of the late Amos and Nancy Null Vititoe. He is survived by a daughter, Linda Kupchik, and was preceded in death by his wife, Helen L. Henderson.
Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, Nelsonville. Burial will be in Ridgewood Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m..
Thomas Vititoe
WELLSTON - Thomas L. Vititoe, 59, of Wellston, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, at his residence.
He was born May 8, 1941, in Jackson County, son of the late James Edward and Florence Ireland Vititoe.
He is survived by stepchildren Dawn Simpson, Connie Smith, Standford, Dennis and Roger Lowe, and Fred Graham.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Williams Vititoe.
Graveside services will be held Friday, noon, at Elk Cemetery in McArthur. Friends may call at Garrett Funeral Home in McArthur on Friday, one hour prior to services.
Earl Seel
ALBANY - Earl H. "Spud" Seel, 83, of Albany, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at Grant Medical Center, Columbus.
He was born April 8, 1917, in Canaanville, son of the late Peter B. and Josephine Clark Seel.
He is survived by the mother of his five children, Marie Seel Zimmerman; sons Russell (Carolyn) Seel of Trotwood and Jan (Pam) Seel of Albany; daughters Sarah (Philip) Kasler of Amesville, Cathy (Silas) Montgomery of Westerville and Judy (Joe) Brown of Quaker City; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a sister, Marie Kempton of Lebanon; and a brother, Tom (Alma) Seel of New England.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens, with burial in West Union Street Cemetery.

Vada Mallick
WELLSTON - Vada E. Mallick, 80, of Wellston, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at Adena Regional Medical Center, Chillicothe.
She was born Nov. 5, 1919, in Jackson County,daughter of the late William S. and Jessie Tripp Beabout. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Mallick.
Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at McWilliams Funeral Home, Wellston. Burial will be in Hamden Cemetery.

Lydia Smith
POMEROY - Lydia V. Smith, 73, of Pomeroy died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2000, at Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis.
She was born July 20, 1927, in Kyger and was a daughter of the late Worth and Evelyn Darst Tate.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond Smith; and her children, Debra Rose, Janice Grimm and Donald Smith.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, 2 p.m., at the Rutland Nazarene Church. Burial will be in Miles Cemetery in Rutland.
Friends may call at Fisher Funeral Home, Pomeroy, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Larry Williamson
LANCASTER - Larry L. Williamson, 60, of Lancaster, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, at Hocking Valley Community Hospital, Logan.
Born Nov. 1, 1939, in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Grant W. Williamson and Nellie A. Anderson Williamson Ogle.
He is survived by sons Jamey and Tyler Williamson, and daughters Penny Noble and Joy Williamson.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan.

Kenny Whitmore Sr.
MURRAY CITY - Kenny E. Whitmore Sr., 63, of Murray City, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000, in Murray City.
Born April 18, 1937, in Nelsonville, he was the son of the late Eddie Whitmore Sr. and Adrienne Cox Shelton Whitmore.
He was a 1955 graduate of Nelsonville High School, an Air Force veteran, a member of the Upper Arlington Police Department and Buchtel marshal, and was retired from Yorde Machine Products. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and Murray City American Legion.
He is survived by daughters and a son-in-law, Kathy and Bob Newman of Buchtel, and Kimberly Whitmore of Murray City; sons and daughters-in-law Kris and Michele Whitmore of Glouster, Kenny Whitmore of Eaton, Kevin and Cindy Whitmore of Burlison, Tenn., Kirk Whitmore of Nelsonville; and Kerry Whitmore of Nelsonville; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brothers Frank Whitmore of Arizona and Eddie Whitmore Jr.; and sisters Theresa and Diane.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Doris Withem Whitmore; a brother, Willard Orndorf; and grandparents Ira and Minnie Whitmore.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Conner Cemetery, Buchtel, with The Rev. J. Gordon Sullivan officiating. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home, Murray City.
James Eakins
SYRACUSE- James Shelton "Runt" Eakins, 47, of Syracuse, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at his residence.
Born on June 4, 1953, in Gallipolis, Mr. Eakins was the son of the late James Edward and Dimple Louise Patterson Eakins.
He is survived by his spouse, Teresa Kay Hunt Eakins; and his five children, James Lee, Joseph Ray, Stacy Renee, Tara Marie and Sarah Lynn Eakins.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2000 at 9 a.m. at Letart Falls Cemetery.
Helen White
WOODSVILLE - Helen White, 86, of Woodsville, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at Woodsville Nursing and Rehab Center in Woodsville.
She was born Dec. 13, 1913, in Pursley, W.Va. and was a daughter of the late Ira and Ora Eggins Kyle. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. White is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Sue White of Belpre; a son, Norman White of Woodsville; a daughter, Mona Marcinko of Woodsville; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William White; and two sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at White-Moquin Funeral Home in Coolville. Burial will be at the White Cemetery in Bashan, Ohio.
